Fun, Informative, and Totally Worth It!…read more The Halifax Harbour Hopper Tour was another highlight of our trip--and definitely worth the money. It's such a fun and unique way to explore the city! You start on land, taking in historic landmarks and beautiful views, then splash right into the harbour as the vehicle transforms into a boat. It's a cool experience whether you're a first-time visitor or a local looking to see the city from a new perspective. Our tour guide, Adina, was fantastic--full of energy, super knowledgeable, and made the whole ride engaging and fun. Big shoutout to Captain Geoff as well for the smooth and safe ride! We learned so much about the history of Halifax while also having a great time. Highly recommend this tour if you're looking for something a little different that mixes sightseeing with storytelling.

It was so windy and rough that you could not hear anything they said nor could you see out of the glass due to the water splashing up on the boats windows. While I understand they have no control over the weather, I feel they should have canceled the trip and refunded our money and we could have found something else to do that we would have enjoyed.

We met on a wet & soggy afternoon in front of the Fish Shop at the Halifax Market. Groups are limited to about 12 people. Forget your umbrella or poncho? no problem, there are some goodies in Emily's red tote bag. The longest walking segment is from the Market to Barrington st., then everything else is 2-3 minutes to the next location. At each location, we are told a nice tid bit of history about the area and the business we will be enjoying a tasting from. Here is what we enjoyed during our walk: The Fish shop - chowder with smoked salmon Uncommon Grounds - seedy oat cakes Talay Thai - spring rolls Morris Eats - pizza Rum Runners - rum cake Chives - biscuit with carrot soup Timing is important and the walk is relaxed enough so that we hit each spot on time. For 25$ per person, this is probably the best money spent for anybody who is new to Halifax, or visting family and want to discover great locales.

There was something for everyone, we started with the best fish in chips I have had, and ended with Belgium chocolate to die for! But along the way we discovered hidden gems in Halifax. Haliburton house "Stories" can't wait to go back, and I was so impressed with Elements, this is not your standard hotel restaurant people! They not only support local businesses buy using local food within a 50 mile radius but it tastes great too! How can I forget to mention the beer! The sweet beer! Garrisons brewery, wow! This was a first for me, but definitely not a last. I sampled the raspberry wheat beer...yummy. I can't' wait to go back and work my way through the rest of the selections. $40, well worth it, I promise you will not be disappointed. . This is a fresh idea if your looking for something new to try, highly recommend this tour.

I was rather disappointed with most of the stops, up till the end (Five Fishermen). When we went,…read morewe started at Goldwater in the market, where we had a bite-sized lobster roll; which was super fresh and quintessential Nova Scotia, but rather small. We went from there to Johnny Ks, where we had a bite-sized beef gyro, which while tasty, was a very small portion, and nothing special. From there we puttered out of the downtown area to the Chain Yard Cidery, where one of the managers met with the group and shared great details about their business, along with two shots of cider (which were both delicious), and a tasty treat. From there we went to Salvatore's for a mini slice of cold pizza (underline & italicize mini and cold), which was extremely disappointing. We wrapped up at Five Fishermen, for chowder and wine, which was the highlight (followed by the Chain Yard). The chowder was a good portion, and I appreciated the two glasses of local wines. I've taken food tours in other cities, and was expecting similar (more upscale). Their price is less than other tours I've taken (which helps), but I didn't take a food tour to have a bite of a gyro and a cold half-a-slice of pizza. I understand the lobster roll as a coastal treat, and it was very fresh, the other two stops were what I was expecting for the entire experience. With so many restaurants in the downtown area, I'm not sure why we drove to the outskirts and back. I thought there would've been a stop for a scoop of infamous Nova Scotian homemade ice cream (plenty of options, and relatively cheap). If Five Fisherman didn't accommodate our food-allergy (nothing was offered as an alternative at Goldwater), I would've been extremely frustrated, and our tour-guide wasn't sure they'd have something for us, even though we gave advanced notice of the shellfish allergy and they said it would be fine. On the plus side, the tour guide did a great job sharing the history of Halifax, was very knowledgeable about local wines, and enthusiastic about the food scene.

Very well paced, just enough alcohol to keep it fun but not get too crazy, and great food as well. They easily accommodated our vegetarian group, which was nice. I would easily recommend this if you have friends in from out of town and are looking for something more fun than the typical tourist fare.

Top of our list was to have a horse and carriage ride around that pretty town. It's a beautiful place, but Shay, our expert driver brought the whole town to life. Not only was it interesting to hear about the history of the architecture and who lived in these beautiful homes, but we also got to hear about what happened to the horses during the wildfires. Farmers all over the province came with horse trailers to help get horses to safety. Amazingly kind people love on the East coast! If you are to Nova Scotia , make sure to go to Lunenburg, put this on your list as a must do. It really does take you back to the early days when life was much simpler and it was a delightful ride. Shay's parents came for a visit with their family a couple of years ago, fell in love with Lunenburg. They found the horse farm business, bought it from a retiring farmer. Shay, was already a carriage horse driver in beautiful Niagara on the Lake! We plan to return one day and have a few lovely carriage rides. Thank you Shay and your parents "who bought the farm"! They were lined up right beside the wharf so we walked over and loaded up. The tour took around 45 minutes and was very informative. The ride itself was very comfortable and relaxing. The carriages only have a few seats but you have a good amount of room inside which is nice. The seats were soft and comfy. They also had blankets in case we got cold. We had a great time and would definitely recommend these tours for anyone going to Lunenburg.

It was my first attempt at taking a fully planned vacation, I usually do most of the legwork and itineraries myself. Having been a tour guide in my youth, I know what to look for in a company and Blue Diamond seemed to deliver. Be advised that they do not take credit cards, which for a company in business since 1995 is a tad puzzling. So I mailed my deposit check and got a prompt notification when it arrived in NS. Bob, the owner, stressed the flexibility of our itinerary and this was very true. They contract out to Van Tours of Nova Scotia and pretty much handed us over to them after we paid the balance, also by check?!?. We were greeted at the airport, whisked off to our hotel, given contact numbers and other info for our trip. Our daily forays into the beautiful province were comfortable, if edifying as to distances and local color. We got a lot from our drivers/guides, who were game with our changes, and we saw some great sights. If having a pre-organized vacation is your thing, if you value not having to get yourself from point A to point B and in-between, Blue Diamond and their contractors are your people.

The first place we were driven to was 1.5 hours away from the hotel and it was CLOSED! The 3 other places had NO tour bookings for that day and they even confirmed that with us via email. We did not receive a single tour. None of the locations even had knowledge that we were arriving. We had to pay additional money for all tastings. Even the driver was trying to contact his boss, on our behalf, to figure out what was going on. He was in way over his head. We felt bad for him. Our driver shared with us his, and his wife's, numerous health issues & hospitalizations and became lost between one location to another. We had to guide him with our own cellphone GPS. We did not receive anything the tour claims to offer other than a driver (who did not once speak of wine, beer, or anything related) and a Chevy. We called our travel agent during and immediately afterwards. We've been told that she, and her manager, have made numerous attempts to contact Blue Diamond Tours over several weeks to get us a refund and that they are avoiding any contact. We were informed by our agent that Blue Diamond Tours is now BLACKLISTED ACROSS CANADA by the travel agency.
