Thank God for other online retailers. Only thanks to them I was able to navigate the nightmare of windscreen wiper selection in this store. The online selector in in the store is absolutely useless, only recommended Halfords brand and it was not in stock. If I had the time to wait I would buy the wipers online, for less than half price and from a website that easily filters all search results based on my car model. Never again I will look for wiper blades in Halfords... plan ahead, buy online and save a bunch. read more

Brought in a scooter to repair a punctured tyre and came out with a scooter that no longer runs. General staff could not have been more helpful and genuinely tried everything they could to help but the managers might as well not have been there. They did nothing, only willing to "stand by his technician"!?! Worst of all they charged me full price. I'm now left with a scooter that no longer works and a maze of customer service calls with Halfords to get this sorted. Do not go here, if anything goes wrong they will not help you. Hello, On December 16th I went into Halfords to buy a bicycle for my daughter's birthday. I spoke with a sales person and explained I am only interested in the bicycle if it is in stock, as with the holidays -- I would not have faith that they would be able to order one for me to pickup on the 27th of December, the day before my daughters birthday. They checked the backroom and told me it was indeed in stock and I could take it in the box that day, or have it assembled by the staff and pick it up on the 27th. I agreed to have the in stock bike assembled, with the addition of stabilisers, and pick it up on the 27th. I was then quoted a price for the bike, assembly and stabilisers for €192. I paid that in full on the day with a credit card. I noted to the sales person that the assembly and stabilisers were not on the receipt. He told me not to worry, that they are included in the price. On the day I was to pick up the bike I got a telephone call at 9:56 am to tell me that they did not have the bike I had purchased, that they sold it to someone else. I asked if the in store display was in good condition, as if not I could still go to another bike shop. The store employee agreed to check and ring me back. I never got a call back and spent the next four hours at work trying to ring the store, they never answered the phone that day. The next day, the 28th (my daughters birthday). I finally got through to the store to -- and then to the manager. He said he would look into it and call me back. I missed a few of his calls as we were driving in the car to my daughter's birthday party when he rang. Though I rang him back and he said they could give me a 15% discount on the damaged in store display (prominent scratch on the frame and badly discoloured white tyres) -- or that they would build a new bike the following Monday -- but would not do anything to remedy selling the bicycle I had already purchased to another customer. Then when I went to the shop to pickup the display model, they told me they would need to charge me extra for the stabilisers, even though this was included in the quoted price on the 16th of December by the sales person. In my view their are two deceptive practices here: * Selling a product as in stock -- then selling that stock to another customer. I would have left the shop and gone to another shop if they were honest and told me they were going to do this. I stipulated upfront I was only interested in purchasing the bike if it was in stock. * Claiming the stabilisers were included at time of the sale and then changing this when I went to pick up the bike. I left the shop without the bicycle because it was clear to me that they are engaged in deceptive practices. I felt bullied and condescended-to (even threatened) by the manager when I brought up these deceptive tactics. read more

Having taken the skin of most of my knuckles last time I tried I was understandably reticent to try to and put in the front bulbs of my car this time round. Passing Halfords I noted that they had a big sign saying this was the sort of thing they will do, so, happily willing to risk the knuckles of a complete stranger, I wandered in. The bulbs were a bit cheaper than buying from a petrol station and the staff are happy to help you choose the right ones. I proceeded to the checkout and paid, mentioning that I was not man enough to fit my own bulbs and could someone do if for me. The bill seemed high but I wasn't really thinking so just paid and followed the very helpful guy to my car. He fitted the bulbs in about 3 mins... it took me half a day and a lot of swearing last time. ...now this is where I admit I had just presumed the fitting is an added service to get customers in. Not so, it cost 10euro extra. Worth every cent for the front lamp. Could have done the back myself (said quentin, trying to regain some semblance of masculinity). read more

I was in the Carrickmines Halfords store on the 16th of November 2018 at 10.30am. I was looking to get the right spray paint for my car. There were 2 particular staff members behind the counter that were very rude and unhelpful. One female employee behind the counter was extremely rude, had a very negative attitude and treated me as if I was annoying her the whole time. One male employee behind the counter was also unhelpful and quite dismissive. They were more interested in the conversation they were having between each other. I didn't know what the paint color code was or where to find it. The male employee asked me to call my manufacturing car dealership to find the correct paint code for my car. I called them and they helped me locate the code on my car, the manufacturer also said Halfords should've been able to assist me locate and select the correct paint code, which Halfords did not. I had to search for the paint code on my car myself. I believe the male employee would've likely known all this information having worked at Halfords, where they help customers like this on a regular basis but he never offered to help with this. When I went back in to order the paint, the female employee then doubled the price of the paint because she said she had to order it, when she hadn't even checked if they had the paint in stock. When she asked what size spray can I wanted, I said "I don't know what size I need" because I only needed a small amount. She then treated me as if I was annoying her again. Overall, I found her attitude very disrespectful, when all I wanted to do was buy a small amount of spray paint for my car. Both employees could benefit from proper staff training, manners and courtesy. read more

Its such a pity as I was really excited going in here to get my first tent. All the advice I can give is not to trust Halfords. I was told to wait for about 25 minutes in store for my reserved tent only to be told they didn't have it anywhere in the store. I was then told that someone may have cancelled my order for no reason whatsoever. I'm not sure if this was something they made up on the spot to have some sort of excuse (which was still saying they messed up). I was offered other tents for similar prices NONE of which were waterproof or else ones that were way too expensive or large for what I needed. I had driven an hour to collect this tent and I had to go camping the next day so it made quite a stressful situation for me. The laxydazy attitude of the staff was very frustrating. They were almost laughing to each other about what cold have happened to the tent. I had an important appointment I had to go to that I was made late to from all the waiting, or I would have tried to find a manager. The tents were sold out except for two I could see behind the counter for another customer that they DIDNT mess up the order for. I was told that they couldnt give me one of those because that would upset the OTHER customer. Safe to say I was made feel very unimportant. They kind of just waited for me to get bored of waiting for something that wasn't there so I would give up and go. Some of the worst customer service I've ever seen. read more

I cycled up to Carrickmines one day in March and soon after I had left my house it started snowing heavily .. I left my bike in the shop for a service overnight because I knew it would be too dangerous to cycle home that day .. The following day I returned and a lovely manager named Cormac had given me a service free of charge because he knew that I didn't really need to get a service done .. Hi i purchased a bike a few days ago in halfords carrickmines for a christmas present and the security guard was very helpful he made sure i was looked after and when i was leaving the store i asked him for directions to the motorway and he guided me directly thank you sir you made my day. Also great shop and great staff thank you i will be back again. read more

Rude staff in bike section. Guy didn't lift eyes from computer to answer polite query about piece of equipment. Condescending. Put item back and left store. Generally sell low quality bikes anyway, was just going to buy a small item. Won't be back. read more
