Updating last year's review to say this spot is slowly becoming a traditional for my girls and I…read more We went a few days before the 4th and they're so nice here. One guy even gave them some smoke bombs and a giant parachute on the house. Ok now for the nuts and bolts: When I was a teenager, I went nuts for fireworks. We'd stop on the way to the Lake of the Ozarks and just blow through money to put on a show for the family. Times changed and honestly I lost all interest... until my neighbors invited us over to play with their kids and some smaller fireworks last year. We determined we had to get at least some this year, and this was the highest rated spot on Yelp. It delivered! We weren't looking for much as I have two young kids; smoke bombs, parachutes, poppers, sparklers, and my oldest really wanted those flaming hens that lay eggs. We were in luck on a humid summer night before the 4th, finding everything we needed. I can't say the value was there.. these kind of tents are notorious for being overly inflated, even in more normal times. However, we don't do this often so whatever, we're paying for some fun entertainment for a night or two. Staff was very friendly, complimenting my daughter's dress and chatting her up. The look on my kiddo's face made it worth parting with $50-100, and I'd probably go the extra few miles out of the way to return next year.

Every single person was patient and kind to them and took time to answer the questions and engage with them. We got the fireworks that I took them there for and they had an amazing time, too. They even had little activity kits for them to take home. Wonderful people and customer service. Will go back next year.

I learned that several of the family members have been involved with fireworks for decades now. They have a HUGE selection of products and all of the tables are divided by the type of fireworks and what they do. This made shopping very easy. They also have several check out stands, have wagons and individuals to help you load your vehicle. They are located at the intersection of 169 hwy and 92 Hwy (between a gas station and car dealer) so it was really convenient to stop by while we were on the way to the lake. The best part, is that if you spend a particular amount you get an automatic coupon. Ask for Ron or Rick and they can help you with it. All in all a fantastic experience!

Usually if you go to a thrift store, the toy area is trashed from the kids playing with the toys. But they had the toys higher up on shelves and bagged with the pieces that go with the toys. So they actually had a better selection of toys because all the pieces are most pieces were intact. I ended up buying some toys there for my grandson and also some books. Their prices were good compared to other thrift stores. I did not look at the clothing prices which tend to be ridiculous at most thrift stores. We did not have to wait long at all to check out and the woman was friendly. I have been to the other Blessings Abound thrift store in Overland Park, but not this one. I would recommend it to anyone living in this area.

I was so impressed with the store that I did some thrift thing for the first time in a couple of decades. The staff was super helpful and kind, most folks there are volunteers. I was able to find a pin striped suit that fit me for $30. All I have to do is get the pants hemmed because I am short. I also got a couple of shirts, including a KC Royals shirt for five dollars because I didn't have one. Students and teachers get discounts on Friday and seniors 55+ get 25% off on Wednesdays. I love that this store works with people who are transitioning from being unhoused to housed and they let them come in and select whatever they need for their new place with no charges. For this reason, we will be making all of our donations at Hillcrest thrift store from now on.

They consistently have good and fun items. I've left with a huge cart full several times. My only issue is that it can get packed in there at times. There's often not enough carts nor enough dressing rooms when it's really busy. It's still not bad but I wish they'd work on getting some more carts donated and maybe find some space for a few more dressing rooms. They are raising money for charity and the people who are working there I believe are mostly volunteers so I don't want to complain too much. I'm sure if I'm overwhelmed by how busy it is, the volunteers and employees must be. I like to drop off things here and there to donate to them as well. That's an easy process here. I'm going to try to snap some photos on my next visit but considering it's a thrift store, it stays pretty clean and fairly well organized even on busy Saturdays and sale days.

Hillcrest Thrift used to be located in Shawnee and I really liked it when it was in our area…read morebecause I think the size suited the amount of merchandise. They are friendly and serve a good cause by the selling of their merchandise. But I think the location is too large for the amount of merchandise that they have now. It seemed more empty when we walked inside. They're well organized, but the merchandise seemed more outdated whereas some thrift stores have a little bit better quality. Some prices were fine, but then some of the clothing I felt like was overpriced. We ended up buying a little bag of toys that were four dollars, which were reasonable for what was in it and my husband bought two books. I think if they get more merchandise to fill out the space then it won't look so sparse. I feel like they should've stayed in the other space they had.
