Finally, I just called Women's Group of Franklin and made an appointment with whoever they had available. Lucky for me, it was Dr. Montville. Dr. Montville is relatively new to the practice, so her schedule is easier to get on, but I imagine it will be filling up fast. She's great. She didn't give me grief about my historically laidback approach to preventative healthcare, she addressed my questions, and kept me informed on what I need to know. The exam was quick, but it didn't feel rushed. Dr. Montville is kind, actively listens to you, and brings a comforting personality to an awkward situation. And since I tend to joke a lot, it was very important and comforting to me that she joked back. I highly recommend Dr. Montville to anyone looking for an OB-GYN. She's awesome.

The first visit was 90 minutes late, but as a new patient and given the fact that her bedside manner is tremendous i thought it fluke. Many third visit back today, it was 120 minutes and i went to ask how much longer they told me another 30 minutes. Advice: the providers are WONDERFUL. The time management is not so great (healthcare bureaucracy). If you have a full day off --- do yourself a book an appointment. If you took time off work... don't bother and find another group.

Today, I spent TWO HOURS trying to reach someone. No answer. No callback. Nothing. When I finally got through, I was told there were "no providers" available to help me. I questioned that because this is a large OB/GYN practice. Suddenly, after the front desk spoke with the medical director, the story changed: there actually WERE providers there -- they were just fully booked. So after wasting two hours trying to get help from my own OB's office, I asked if someone could squeeze me in. Their solution? Go to the ER. What exactly is the purpose of having an OB/GYN if your own office is completely inaccessible when you actually need medical care? And this is not a one-time issue. At my previous appointment, I sat in their office for TWO HOURS because the provider I was scheduled with had called in sick. No one bothered to call me beforehand. No one apparently thought my time was valuable enough to notify me before I showed up and sat there waiting. There is a staggering level of disorganization and indifference at this practice. I understand that doctors get busy. I understand that schedules fill up. I understand that providers sometimes call in sick. What I do NOT understand is an office that repeatedly fails to communicate with patients, leaves them trying to get through for hours, gives conflicting information, wastes hours of their time, and then essentially tells them to go somewhere else when they need help. Patients should not have to fight this hard just to get basic communication from their own doctor's office. If you value responsiveness, organization, respect for your time, or having any confidence that someone will actually help you when you need care, I would strongly recommend finding another practice. Based on my experiences here, this office seems far more concerned with managing its schedule than taking care of the patients on it.

Unfortunately, they never mailed me my pre paper work for a first time appointment so I had some homework to do once I arrived but no biggie. I waited for a bit longer than I would have liked but no longer than 15 past my appointment time. Once seen by the doctor, I was quickly examined and out the door within another 15 minutes. The doctor pushed for some tests that I didn't want and politely declined. She didn't push me and I really appreciate that in a doctor.

I LOVE Dr. Macey and his nurse Lori. When I go to them I feel like a real human and not part of a cattle call. They are very thorough and you can ask them anything without feeling embarrassed... but you probably wont have to ask anything, because they will tell you every scenario of anything you could think of before you even have to. I would never go to anyone else... if I had to move to Australia, I would fly back to Nashville once a year to see Dr. Macey. My daughter is grown now and goes to Dr. Macey. When she goes in, they ask about me and told her that I really needed to get in there. I would never recommend going to this office if you're looking for a doctor that makes your health and well-being their #1 priority. My personal experience was awful. Dr. Oldfield was recommended to me by another doctor during a completely unrelated visit. I have previously visited another doctor in the same building but she is so fantastic that it became a challenge to see her so I decided to give Dr. Oldfield a chance instead of making an appointment with my previous doctor. When I made the appointment, the person on the phone acknowledged that I used to be a patient of another doctor and I confirmed. I updated all of my information, made my appointment and anxiously waited (I am a PCOS patient and I've been dealing with some stressful symptoms so I'm VERY nervous and ready to get everything under control). I received a call confirming my appointment 3 days prior- everything seemed fine. Long story short, I showed up and was informed that I have a balance due ($324) from my last doctor that I haven't been to in YEARS. I had NO idea. I offered to make a payment and apologized but I was also confused as to why this wasn't mentioned when I made an appointment almost a month ago. She gave me a statement of my charges which was from 2012... I was beyond confused and embarrassed! She said that a partial payment may not be enough but she said the doctors do make accepting so she would ask Dr Oldfield and see if she would still see me. So I sit down, fill out ALL of the paperwork to be called back up and told that Dr. Oldfield refuses to see me until I pay the full balance. It took everything I had not to burst into tears!!!! I had been waiting for this appointment, had NO idea that there was a balance due and then $324 was holding me back from getting treatment that I desperately need???????? You have GOT to be kidding me!!!!! This doctor cares so much more about such a minuscule amount of money than treating her patients!!!!! I walked to my old doctors office and they were floored. They confirmed that it was wrong for an appointment to be made without telling me about the balance due, and that the doctor shouldn't have turned me away- ESPECIALLY over such a small amount of money! They felt terrible and they confirmed that my account was in a category that would have prevented me from getting statements- there's no way I could've known that I owed anything still. They allowed me to make a partial payment and schedule an appointment. I am appalled and so disappointed in doctors like Elizabeth Oldfield who obviously think that the value of such a small balance is much more than the health of their patients. My recommendation would be to avoid this office if at all possible. There are so many other doctors in Nashville that won't make you feel like dollar signs are more important that your health. Dr. Oldfield, you should be ashamed of yourself.

New patients start out with their WHNPs rather than with an MD, which makes total sense to me. There are detailed bios and availability calendars online for all of their providers. If you've never been to this office before, parking can be a bit tricky to figure out. There's a garage for patients off of 20th Ave., and the easiest way to find the entrance is to turn right on State St. and then left into the garage. After parking, you'll want to take the elevator to the second floor walkway over to the medical building, and then follow the signs in there to another elevator and take that up to the fifth floor. It sounds more complicated than it is, and it's easy to remember after you do it once. The office waiting room is beautiful, with lots of natural light, plenty of seating, and a gorgeous view of the Nashville skyline. There were dozens of women waiting for appointments, but the check-in process is all done online through a QR code, making it super quick and easy. Their team is efficient - and it makes sense why they can see so many women in one day! I saw Elizabeth Napier (Lizzie) and have nothing but wonderful things to say about my appointment. To any women who are putting off their well women exam because they don't know where to go ... this is the place!
