Although not Ukrainian, this restaurant has very similar flavors. The inside was incredibly charming and very cozy. The restaurant is inside of a small house. We were taken into a side room that did not have any windows, but was uniquely decorated. We shared the fruit compote drink, which was very good. We also had a Kachapuri bread with mashed potatoes and cheese and their signature dish which was meat and rice. Everything was very good in the service was great. I believe that the food was likely Halal, although I can't be for certain. They did observe the Muslim call to prayer while we were there and offered prayer mat to guests who wanted to pray. We felt very welcome here and I would recommend this restaurant to others.

It is unassuming from the outside and seems tiny when you enter, but don't let that fool you! First, they have an entire extra room of seating in a space next door (that seems to have been recently remodeled). The menu has a nice variety of options listing hot and cold appetizers, main entrees, sides and desserts. They specialize in Uzbek Cuisine which is quite different in some areas, but also similar to other cuisines with certain dishes. There are a variety of dumpling entrees and also fried dough/fried pocket items. One of the favorites among my family is the fried pelmeni which are small, beef filled dried delights. Perfectly fried, bite sized and packed with flavor. They are served with sour cream and a sweet chili sauce, but you don't really need any dipping sauce because they are so good on their own. Another appetizer we love is the cheburek, a beef filled fried pastry similar to something like an empanada. For entrees, I've had the Uzbek plov several times. Rice with carrots raisins and lamb. The lamb is tender and perfectly seasoned. It is one of those dishes that I am stuffed but can't stop eating because it is so delicious. The pelmeni soup is another highlight. Perfect for a cold day or to give you an ultimate comfort food meal. Service is usually pretty attentive (although if you end up in the extra room it will be on the slower side but still good). There is street parking right in front of the restaurant, but if there isn't space, there is also a municipal lot about a block away. The one down side is that if they are busy, it can take quite awhile to get food. But the wait is worth it! If you are looking to try something new and different, give this place a try. You won't be disappointed!

I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great cheap meal (my kind of place exactly). I tried the chicken over rice meal, which also came with fries and a side salad. The chicken over rice was delicious. The rice was well cooked, and the chicken was pretty tender. Well seasoned without being excessive. I loved the creamy white sauce they topped the dish with. Sooo good. And, great portion too. Enough to fill up a very hungry guy. The fires were also pretty great. A smaller portion, but still great (it's free fries). They top them off with a bit of that delicious sauce as well. Would have liked them to be a tad bit crispier, but still very solid. Finally, the side salad. It was simple, and nothing too crazy, but I appreciated them going out of their way to add some vegetables in. The chickpeas and beans were an awesome addition. The sauce for the salad want my favorite, but still, major props to them! All in all, I really liked this place. It greatly satisfied my hunger and they serve amazing food. 100% check this place out for a quick cheap meal.
