I personally always enjoy coming to Grandma's. The food has always been delicious and I'm…read morepersonally a fan of dishes coming out as soon as they're done. I do recommend making a reservation as they can be pretty slammed on Fridays/weekends. The Srirachi wings had a nice crunch to them while still keeping the chicken juicy inside. It would've been nice to have an even amount of wings to drumsticks though, as I like flats more, but thats just a personal preference. The crabmeat fried rice was amazing, a really good portion of chunks of crabmeat mixed in so each spoonful had some. The duck curry was a "Grandma's special" so a much bigger portion and cost - but reasonable. The duck wasnt dry and had a good flavor throughout, not relying on the curry to give taste. The curry also had a hint of sweetness to it which complements the greasiness of the duck. The papaya salad felt very refreshing - we got it at level one as to not overpower our taste buds with all the other food. I did get some chili pepper on the side to add in later. My one recommendation is having Thai peppers as an option instead of dried chili flakes. I much prefer the taste of fresh Thai pepper to add the extra heat. The mango sticky rice is always a favorite. The mango is soft and ripe, the right amount of sweetness. They also mix pandan in with the sticky rice for a more impactful umami (Im also a big advocate for pandan in desserts).

Very hip place in Center City. It was bustling around dinner time. We had to consistently ask staff when we would be seated and they never gave us an estimated time frame, which resulted in us awkwardly hanging out by the entrance until a table was ready. Our waitress seemed rather annoyed every time she visited our table (which was not very often). The food was solid, although I wouldn't say it blew me away. I had the Ratchada duck which was good and flavorful. We shared some small plates which were also good. Drinks were okay. I think it was worth trying, but I do think this place is a little overhyped. The mediocre service is probably enough to make it not worth the hassle of waiting.

We stopped by Saad's Halal Restaurant for lunch, and my guy ordered me the Chicken Shish Tawook…read morePlatter. It was absolutely delicious and very plentiful! I enjoyed every bite but definitely had enough left over to take home for a late dinner. That's always a win! Everything tasted fresh, and the food was prepared efficiently and made to order. The menu is extensive, with plenty of options to satisfy all kinds of tastes. Inside, the restaurant was inviting and pleasant, with a busy but well-organized atmosphere. There were plenty of employees working together to keep up with the busy lunch crowd, and there are great spaces for larger gatherings as well. Overall, a delicious and satisfying lunch with generous portions and fresh food. Definitely a place worth checking out!

Son's friend recommended this place for sandwiches and since he said the onion rings were good that made it a must go to place! We had the: Beef shawarma maroosh style 5/5: The best thing about this humongous sandwiches is the bread is crispy but soft. I was surprised at the price but the sandwich is so big we really could have split one but ordering two left us they both. The beef is so tender it reminded me of chinese beef stew for some reason. Not that it tasted like chinese beef stew but the texture was just so melt in your mouthy! Loved the veggies on it and the sauce! chicken shawarma maroosh style 5/5: Son and DIL loved it here and recommended it. Hubs preferred it cuz he's a chicken fan and loved it for all the same reasons listed above. Onion rings 5/5: Rings were nice and crisp without being overly greasy or fried. It's a nice place with just a couple of booths inside. Originally I was only going to give it 4 stars cuz the way it's set up is weird when they tell you where to stand and where to go...it just didn't feel warm and inviting when you walk in but honestly when I'm in philly again I will make it a point to stop by so that makes it a 5 in my book.
