Let me get to the basics, this NYC Halal Cart can dispute the Halal Guys on 53rd in Manhattan as being the best halal cart in NYC. This guy will make your plate heavy, and he is not like any other halal cart where they give you very little rice, a lot of salad, and one to two pieces of chicken. He will hook it up and make sure you get your $5 dollars worth of food. His white sauce is superb, and if you want it seasoned any way, he will do so in order to "Best serve the customer". The taste is also amazing, along with the barbeque sauce. You can't go wrong with this. Convenient enough, he is in front of the train station, Elmhurst Ave where the M and the R train go.

I adore halal food. It's especially something that's close to my heart during Ramadan. And nothing…read moresatisfies my craving for halal chicken and rice, after 14 hours of not eating, like quality halal cart grub. Living in Sheepshead Bay at the moment, there aren't many options to choose from... at all. I *could* drive all the way to Bay Ridge for the halal carts on 86th St. and 5th Ave. But that's a 15 min drive I'd rather not take - especially when I'm home in my jammies. But I do live in Sheepshead Bay, and when my ingenious boyfriend brought up the fact that he saw a halal cart on Sheepshead Bay Rd, I was *driven*, at 11pm, to go try some. Well, here's the verdict... What the heck just happened?! FIRST of all, the servings are pathetic. For $5, I got HALF the portions of the halal cart food I get in the city for $6! And in a lower-middle class neighborhood like Sheepshead Bay, that most definitely shouldn't be the case. SECOND, the hot sauce isn't hot at all. Halal carts are known for their awesome hot sauce, and this guy just seems like he poured some Franks Red Hot over my order of chicken and rice. THIRD, the white sauce - which I normally like a LOT of - is completely flavorless! This is, by far, the worst halal food from a halal cart that I've ever had. Not only would I never venture back here, but I advise anyone looking for late-night halal, to venture as far away from Sheepshead Bay as you can. There are no decent halal trucks here. Especially not XPL. So here I sit, in my bedroom in Sheepshead Bay, completely starving, because the 7 spoonfuls of tasteless halal food from this cart, couldn't have hit the spot LESS. I only give it 2 stars because it hasn't *yet* given me food poisoning - if that ends up happening, I'll lower my rating to 1 star. So disappointed.

obviously I'm scoring on the scale here, the food cart scale. Here's my biased grading system:…read more one star: major stomach cramps, vomiting and/or diarrhea two stars: unidentifiable meat pieces, overcooked/dry rice, mild upset stomach three stars: everything went ok, nothing to write home about four star: well balanced meats, fresh veggies, flavorful rice, good proprietor attitude five stars: must be pretty incredible This cart has two options - chicken and lamb. That is it. Oh, there are colorful photos of falafels, etc. Don't be fooled - they don't make them. But as far as chicken and lamb go - they are excellent. I am not sure how Lisa, the previous reviewer, feels cheated with a huge helping of rice, veggies and chicken for $5 but this lower-middle class Sheepshead Bay resident feels the price is fair for well made, fresh, quality food. I don't have it for a week - I crave it. There are two other things going fo this cart - 1. it's open 24 hours a day (guys working in shifts). 2. great attitude - 'a little white sauce, lots of red sauce and just a splash of green sauce, and no peppers in the veggies and just a couple of pieces of chicken and the rest is lamb" "No problem" Respectful, hard-working people. A halal truck in Sheepshead Bay that I can finally trust will give me my bang for my buck!…read more To be honest, I haven't tried too many halal trucks in Sheepshead Bay because (1) there aren't many of them and (2) the ones that do exist do not look too great. Typically, I would trek all the way to Bay Ridge on 4th Ave. to get some good halal, and I know that's a very long distance, but I swear I was crazy hungry every time I went! Anyhow, I did a little research online and BAM! Sammy's was the best and most rated halal cart on Yelp so I needed to check it out. My wife and I swung by, on a casual Sunday morning, and it was exactly where it was supposed to be located, on the corner of Coney Island Island Ave. and Brighten Beach Ave. As expected, there was no one waiting on the line on the busy street. What was surprising was that we were only charged $5 for each box of food! In the year of 2018, it's like finding gold when you find a halal cart that still sells chicken/lamb over rice for $5. By now, most carts are at $6 or even further north of that. So the verdict? Excellent quality! Being native New Yorkers, we considered ourselves halal cart food connoisseurs and Sammy's was right on with the best of them. We had a lamb over rice and a chicken over rice box and the meats were hot, fresh and tasty. The rice was also cooked perfectly. Besides the flavors, we loved the big portions too. We both added barbecue and white sauce onto our boxes of rice and the sauces were exactly as we have had elsewhere. Tip: Yes, barbecue and white sauce are the combination of sauces to go with! (not hot and white sauce) The bottom line is that you can trust the food quality and portions of rice from this halal truck. It's exactly what we were looking for. Best of all, now we no longer have to schlep ourselves to Bay Ridge for some good ol' NYC halal food because there's one right in our backyard!

But if you're willing to explore outside of Manhattan like Brooklyn in this case, then you should try one of the halal carts here. I've had halal food from Manhattan, it's good, it's delicious, it's nothing like anywhere else (*cough* orange county in CA). But I happen to have friends in the Brooklyn area who have their opinions on where to get the best halal food with the best value. So here we are...at this halal food cart in the brighton beach area of Brooklyn. We ordered the chicken over rice and the lamb over rice. I had the white and hot sauce put on the side for the chicken dish but went ahead and had them drizzle it over the lamb dish. Words can't express how much I enjoyed the food! We paid $10 for BOTH meals and was completely full and satisfied with it! Hot sauce is hot....so be careful with it. Every dish on the menu was priced at $5. There was no long lines, and the service was quick. It's cash only as expected.

A favorite among employees in Mt.
