Gyro and rice platter with pita bread and sauce
    Rozet S.

I love this cart! I first had Halal Guys when they opened their restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Since then, I've been hooked and have been wanting to go up to NY for Halal Guys from Providence. I finally made it out to NYC today and knew I needed to order their rice and gyro platter. For $7, the small plate is very filling and delicious. I love the pita bread that comes with it. However, the best part is their white sauce! I'm not exactly sure what's in it but it makes the platter so much better! Also the guys at the cart are super helpful and nice.

    Chicken & Rice...$4.99...Incredible.

This halal cart is simple and amazing. So amazing. It was the first one I tried because Halal Guys was too far of a trek, and I couldn't find Rafiqi's Halal Cart (another highly rated cart) because I'm an NYC noobie. My first visit here was more so as a last resort for lunch, but it was delicious and the man was SO nice (food carts can be intimidating for first timers). On a cool day, destined to experience the best chicken and rice, I made the trek to the notorious Halal Guys, to see what I (thought) was missing out on. Huge mistake. Compared to 'This halal cart' (don't know it's name) it blew Halal Guys out of the water and is less expensive, AND is higher quality. I have no idea how Antonio W. described it as "no Halal Guys", but I can only assume his taste buds were not working that day. The other day I ended up trying Rafiqi's, which was really good as well, but after just eating from this cart, I realized nothing compares and thought I should share how amazing and delicious this gem is on Yelp! Side note - I have nothing against Halal Guys, but I thought it was going to be like magic in my mouth after reading all the rave reviews on Yelp and from word of mouth, but I was left to be utterly disappointed and extremely, extremely confused.

Chicken over rice with grilled onions corn and tomatoes. White sauce and green cilantro sauce.

Come here about once a week. $5 for chicken over rice which includes olives, corn, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and peppers. You can add grilled onions too if you like. Love the white sauce and the green cilantro sauce. The guy is very friendly and always has a smile. For $5 you can't go wrong here.

The service is quick and efficient. The food tastes really fresh! Not as spicy as I would like but still flavorful.

Lunch yesterday was a plump tandoori chicken leg, two chicken samosas and a naan. I sat there to…read moreeat. I was the only lady there and as I have written in earlier reviews no women come here. The chicken was fresh and tasty but I could manage only half and had it packed. Now the naans here are not the delicate fragrant ones at fancy Indian restaurants. These are thick ones with or without ghee smeared on top (to request) meant for the lumberjack. Here these are in the form of cab drivers and delivery men who need sustenance and no froo froo cuisine. The gender neutral restroom is in my opinion the "Black hole of Calcutta." For men, it may be passable but for women absolutely verboten to enter. At a pinch, go to Kalustiyan where there is a restroom up the stairs. Ideally only should buy something before asking to powder one's nose. Service at Lahori is fine.

I love tasting new restaurants and wanted to stop by this place . Fantastic location . Right in the heart of Lexington Avenue . Lots of other restaurants nearby. Lots of space inside to sit and eat . Even though the ambience is not that great , it's ok for a quick lunch .. service could be better. All guys go inside the kitchen and hardly come out . Wish they had a bell or something in the counter outside for the customers to call them . Sometimes you keep waiting for many minutes before they come out . For the price , food was good . They have many food items on display and we chose some curries .. quantity was good . Naan , white rice and 2 non veg curries for 13.50$. Not bad. ... goat curry was good . Perfect Lahori taste . Chicken curry was average . Could have tasted better . My only issue is presentation. The y just mix all curries in rice and they are smashed all across the plate . Wish they give these curries in separate containers so we can enjoy the flavor of each curries . Another thing is they just reheat these curries . They are precooked . Sometimes with that , we wouldn't know if it is fresh . It tasted fresh though. Overall a good restaurant but giving them 3 stars . Will visit again and check and improve my ratings if needed
