They do senior save days to help seniors get there hours in if they need…read moreto make hours up for their attendance an order to graduate and then tell seniors the meetings and graduation practices are mandatory and they have to attend, but then tell the seniors if they go to the MANDATORY senior events they won't count those hours they are making up. If the students take a lunch break they deduct time from these students for going to eat but sit at their desks and munch away . This school is filled with rude, disrespectful, bad built teachers and staff that think they are "helping" the students when in reality they are making it worse. They are not organized with anything AT ALL, don't tell students about schedules, events, or anything important. Give information LAST MINUTE and then tell you "oh well nothing i can do" when it's genuinely their fault.They are setting these students up for failure, this school SUCKS the teachers are creeps and love kids do NOT come here. They gave these students hours A WEEK before FINALS and expected them to make them all up by the end of that week when most students had like 30+ hours to make up.. that's unrealistic especially for the students who have JOBS and finals to do. They are trying to hold students back from graduating with their classmates in June and telling these students who got the hours "oh you can always graduate in August" who wants to do that? No one. This is insane and unbelievable, you guys suck and need to do better. Organize better and communicate better. These staff members don't think about the students they only think about themselves and what they want to stuff their faces with for lunch. This year (2024) has been the WORST year for Klein Oak and klein isd period. I came to klein because my mom's friend told her that klein schools were great!! klein schools suck. they say they have a great education system, okay yeah maybe for some kids but most kids can't even tell the difference between a state and a country.That same friend has recently took her kid out of the district because of the RACISM , not only from the students but from the STAFF too. This school and every other school in the klein district stinks (literally stinks). This school NEEDS TO DO BETTER. They only care about the schools rating and ranking, they care more about your damn attendance than anything and if your child has had no problems with anything at this school it's probably because they don't speak to anyone and are a teachers pet. There is a rat infestation, black mold, rats falling from the ceilings, teachers crying because HISD is making them into slide readers. I see many fights.. some kid chucked a metal lunchbox at a poor teachers face. Mr. Espinoza told them to not press charges because that would look bad on their school. Some kids got into a fist fight because someone looked at someone. Parents, do your research, my parents didn't and now I suffer. There is so much homework, locker rooms have decaying rats. Wish I didn't go here. If I could give zero stars, I would. Communication from the administration is inconsistent, and concerns from students and parents don't seem to be taken seriously. The environment feels disorganized, and policies are enforced unevenly. Some teachers clearly care, but overall the school culture needs major improvement. Students deserve better support, structure, and accountability than what's currently being provided.

There is black mold growing from a lot of classroom, frequent rat infestations and roaches. Kids on the daily are either having sex, vaping or doing drugs which you will hear about and staff seems oblivious. Many of the decent teachers have already quit and just this year alone we have had 5 different algebra teachers and this year about 15 or more teachers have been replaced constantly. Admin and staff is very ignorant and rude, often making fun of kids and yelling at them over very mediocre things. Teachers aren't any better your kid will most likely not learn shit from this school like I have unless you have good teachers. Favoritism is HEAVY at this school, alot of the bad kids are favored by admin and almost never recive reprocutions for there actions Mr. Hill (Debate), Mr. Swann (Choir), Mrs. U (Karate) and Mr. Coyoy (Math) are people I think would be able to teach your child alot like they taught me but everyone else.... My first (and only) day there, I sat in on a SAT prep class. The teacher had trouble solving some of the problems and the istudents seemed bewildered. To make matters worse, the teachers berated students who had difficulty solving the problems. I have never seen anything like that in all my 15 years of teaching. At the end of the day, I tried to confirm with the head of the school (the person who hired me at $5000 per month) that my salary would be $5000 per month. He said, 'No your salary is going to be $25 per hour.' Not bad, but not close to the promised and confirmed $5000 per month. I had had enough, and I told the head of school that I was not interested in working at Van Houston. Incredibly, a few days later, I got an email from the school falsely saying that I was not selected for the job! I believe they did this so that they could deflect any bad reviews such as this one. The school building is not in good condition. For example, the a/c did not seem to be working well and the classroom I was in got very warm. There might have been drinking fountains, but I did not see any. There also did not appear to be a paper towel dispenser or an air dryer in the boys restroom.
