Equal Image Salon is now my go to hair dresser. Family owned business they are friendly and actually know what they are doing. I was served by Ashley the other day ( Who is currently in the top 6 for Apprentice of the year awards) and loved it. She was absolutely lovely not to mention did an excellent job on my hair. Previously, I had my hair cut by her Father, Paul. Embarrassingly I was a bit apprehensive about a male cutting my hair but he gave me the best cut I had ever had and straight away regret my quick judgement. No longer will I have to say "Oh that looks good" without meaning it . I love this salon and would recommend it to anyone and everyone !

I had been searching for a good, local beauty salon and hairdresser after I had one of the worst experiences ever at another (look at previous review). I searched google and Insignia Hair & Day Spa had a few 4-5 star google reviews. I booked a massage and facial for my sister and I and we both went in not knowing what to expect. It is a little obscure to find (on the top level of a small business lot in the back of Penrith) but once you're up those stairs, it is incredibly deceptive! Behind the counter are countless awards and trophies - all well deserved and earned I believe now. The receptionist is lovely and always smiling. The salon is broken up into two areas; on the left a beautiful well-lit open space hair salon, to the right, a relaxing and dimly lit series of hallways and a serene waiting area for the massage and treatment areas. My massage was incredibly relaxing and my therapist was lovely, my face felt like a million bucks after the facial. My sister had the same thoughts. A few days later I booked in for my brows and a haircut (I love how you can get everything done here!). I have never had such a great haircut and brow job. I was incredibly relaxed and accommodated the whole time. The scalp massage I received while getting my hair washed was the best scalp massage I've ever gotten, ever. And the chairs that you relax in are the most plush, comfortable chairs I've ever experienced at a sink. My hairdresser Jessica was truly awesome and understood my needs completely. Her professionalism and passion for the job made me feel at ease and confident in her abilities - she truly loves her job and loves working for the salon! I will definitely be back for ALL my hair and beauty needs and I will be telling everyone about this place. It really is a gem in the middle of a sea of mediocre and dodgy places in Penrith.

I think I may have just gotten lucky or something the first time I visited this place several…read moremonths ago. I was in need of a haircut badly, my other hairdresser had closed down/moved and I just left my hair for too long. I walked past this place in Westfield Penrith and decided to impulsively do a walk in. The girl I got several months ago was great, couldn't fault her at all. But let's fast forward to the last few times I've been, including the very last time I went and will go. They sat me in a sink and did a regular hair wash as per usual. I requested a treatment for my hair, which I normally get and know what to expect from it. Not only was I just sitting in the sink for 20 minutes as my hairdresser wandered off, I wasn't even sure she had put the treatment in because it wasn't happening like it normally would. I then had someone else ask me who was dealing with me. I'm fairly certain they put a junior on my hair. I asked if the hair treatment was done, and they half-heatedly told me they thought so. I had another hairdresser blow dry my hair, and burn my ears, repeatedly. I told her that she was catching my ears after the first few times and she just said, oh sorry and kept doing it. She wasn't looking at my hair half the time, instead looking over the room. The original hairdresser (the junior I think) than began cutting my hair..... very slowly. Like so slow that I knew something was up. I also nearly lost an eye because she accidentally stabbed me in the face with her scissors. I'm so happy I didn't ask for some complex hairstyle, because I'm sure she would have mucked it up. Instead I just got a basic trim and cleanup, but even then she left my front layers uneven and blocky. I'm not very good at confrontation, and I paid my $65 (so cheap, but I guess there's a reason why it's so cheap, and I think I paid for a treatment I didn't receive) and went to the bathroom and miserably looked at my hair and thought about the money I wasted. It wasn't a great experience at all. The last few times I've been I've had a similar experience to this, so now I'm on a quest to find a decent hairdresser in the area!

Send her to Management School! I went in there today to try to go a colour down, my hair is ruined, despite paying for a 'Keratin' treatment'! My hair feels like FAIRY FLOSS! OUch, don't do it! It is CHEAP FOR A REASON! YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET!
