I was in search for a new hair stylist and my cousin told me about Ruby since she follows her on Instagram account. I get extremely nervous when anyone touches my hair and I've had a new hair stylist every time I did something new with my hair for the past four years. I decided to go for Ruby because I really like the way she markets herself on Instagram. She doesn't only post pictures of the work that she does, but posts tips on how to take care of your hair! Also, on her website, it shows all the training that she had taken and certifications that she has! This shows that she is educated and she knows what she's doing! When I was ready to book my appointment, I noticed that there are no Saturday appts available (the only time that I can get my hair done). I texted her and she was very responsive and friendly. I was able to get a Saturday appointment with her! Finally, the day of my appt came. Ruby first asked how I wanted to feel - calm, energetic, and I forgot the third option. I said calm and she turned on the air diffuser and change the music to something more calm! She asked how I felt about my hair, what I liked and didn't like about my last appointment and she was really trying to figure out what I really wanted. Throughout the entire appt, she let me know exactly what she was doing. I learned so much about hair from her If there is something I didn't understand, she provided really fun analogies to make sure I understood her! Towards the end of my appt, I filled out a little survey where it would help her figure out what type of products I will need from her and what kind of advice she could give me. I also decided to purchase a shampoo and conditioner from her and she explained to me how to use them. She even asked me to repeat what she just said about the products so she made sure I understood how to use them! I was also not feeling very well during my entire session with her. I took a lot of breaks, and she didn't seem to mind at all. I felt bad that I kept interrupting her but she was very understanding! Honestly I love Ruby Red Hair Studio. She definitely fixed my hair since pre-covid March 2020. I went from a horrible balayage to an amazing balayage that lasted me through the whole lock down. Really can't say enough great things about Ruby. Even before the appointment, I wrote in to talk about my hair and scalp concerns, and she offered to have me in just to chat about it and make sure I was comfortable with the options. Her replies were prompt and full of kindness - even before we got started, I was excited about the appointment. I hadn't had a good experience at a salon in about 6 years, including some very expensive places. I could tell this was going to be different. I opted to roll the dice and wait for our appointment, which was a full consult, color, cut, style. Ruby was amazing. She sat me down and talked to me about what I wanted and what we were able to do with the state of my hair at that time and we worked together to make choices. She was incredibly patient, talking through options, looking at pictures, making recommendations, etc. We went through a really lengthy appointment and never once did I feel rushed or that I didn't have her undivided attention. The color was great, the cut was awesome (I came there for her great color but - wow - she gets results with hair cuts too), we looked at before and afters, and she made great recommendations on how to care for my hair throughout and what to expect after the appointment/over the next few weeks. She mentioned products and touch-ups but never with the intent to pressure me into anything, just to advise. The other thing that makes Ruby awesome is her humanity - sure, it's just hair, but a hair cut can be traumatic and hair color expensive. Ruby could tell when moments would be stressful and acknowledged that -- it made me feel way better about such a dramatic change. Even now, she's following up on questions I have, etc. It's clear she cares about her clients and her craft.
