She even texted me to let me know she was running a little late due to another customer and wanted to offer me some extra time. She made it all work in the end and my color is perfect for my skin tone and hides the gray I was hoping to cover. My cut was so complimentary to my face and I've got lots of unexpected compliments. They offer a Groupon for a haircut and conditioning when I booked the appointment she asked me if I had long hair and I said medium length. She made the appointment for me and said nothing. When I arrived and sat down I was told because my hair is longer than my shoulders I would have to pay an extra $35 totally unacceptable!! The stylist was rude about it and I left! I went here because of a groupon I purchased. I got my hair cut, full foiled, deep conditioned and styled for a deal. There is a long hair fee, but i chopped all my hair off so that didn't apply to me. When I went only 1 person was working so she had to manage the phone, taking care of me and cleaning up after herself. It was a little crazy but nothing terrible. I still was able to relax and enjoy the process. Since I got foils, I had to sign a sheet of paper basically saying I can't get mad if my hair color doesn't come out just like the perfect little sample which made me anxious. I haven't gotten my hair colored that much and this didn't happen at the last salon I went to but they must have had a bad experience. The stylist was shocked I never colored my hair before, and I'm only starting now since I've getting more silver threads of wisdom. I went in saying I wanted a long bob and some natural highlights. I ended up with my hair more in a 'true bob' then a long bob. I also requested natural blonde highlights. I ended up with my hair wayyy shorter then i requested and my hair blonder then I asked for. HOWEVER! I've had my hair my natural color and long (mid chest length) basically my whole life. I kept telling myself to trust the stylist since she knows what she's doing (just like you trust a Dentist and don't question them or a surgeon doing surgery). So I kept just trying to relax and enjoy the 'pampering time'. I also kept reminding myself 'hair grows back, it will be long before you know it!' In the end I LOVED MY HAIR!! I'm just a control freak/type A person so new things scare me, but in the end i'm glad I got 'short' hair and 'blond highlights' and now what I wanted. I also decide to enjoy the short hair since they can't glue/tape it back on. There are also much worse things in life then 'too short of hair' (First world problems!). It's good to relax and let someone else control the situation and trust an expert in the field. I had Saquana and she was very sweet and had great hospitality! She was easy to hold a conversation with. I don't mind not chatty people since they're 'focusing' but she was the perfect amount of conversation but focused. I'm seriously considering coming back to get my roots touched up before I go in vacation because of my positive experience. If you're in the area, I recommend trying it! Saquana took SOO MUCH time on my hair and was attentive to every detail! Go see my girl Saquana if you want a fresh & adorable look! Trust a expert and their opinion! Only recommend if you don't have long hair. The upcharges are ridiculous. I realize it's more work to style, but a cut is a cut. My child had a trim and layers. That's it. Yet we were charged more than double what I paid for the Groupon. At the end of the day, I paid over $100 for a limited cut and style. Never again. Came in for formal Prom hairstyle. When I scheduled the appt I was told that we were scheduled with someone that was familiar with formal styles. Showed 4 pics to Carly. Carly glanced at them and said "I looked some up too" My daughter has long, thick Asian hair and questioned the hair almost immediately when Carly saved front pieces for face framing. My daughter thought the pieces would be too long for Dave framing and didn't want them, Carly said it would be fine when she curled it. My daughter wanted a "poof" on top, no face framing. The hair looked nothing like the pictures. I even asked her to redo the braid. It looked pretty awful all around. The curls were gone 45 mins after we got home. We were specific with our hair style and it was awful. We had to scramble to find some one else to redo it. We lost another 1.5hrs of our time and money. The end result with the new stylist was exactly what she wanted but caused a lot of stress. read more

My daughter and I had previously tried this place out. I had my my hair colored and was charged extra for length. However, my daughter got asked for the exact same service as last time. Only this time this chic says it will be $35 extra if it takes her more then 30 mins. Umm, NO- I'm not paying you $60 to wash and flat iron my 12 year olds hair. (I'm not sure if the girl was hard up for cash today or what) I want to say that black chic is the owner who observed all this and had to have remembered us. She's the one who did my daughter's hair the last time without incident. Shitty Customer Service to say the least. Waste of my time and energy. Not to mention I told the chic over the phone what I expected PRIOR to me booking and having her grandma buy the Groupon. Do not go here unless you want to be up charged, leave with wonky color, and no eyebrows!! I came with a friend who had the same appt time as me and was taken about a half an hour late. I was charged for long hair even though during the consult I suggested I did not want the color.pulled through the ends. The stylist spilled dark brown color on my 100.00 shoes, but of course they make you sign a crazy contract before your services so they are not liable. I purposely wore old clothes in case they got stained with color did not think my shoes would be an issue. I also had my eye brows waxed and asked for a clean up, but she completely removed all of them except a tiny strip. My cut was fine but the color was extremely uneven and patchy. Meanwhile my friend was spending around 100.00 on highlights that were literally not existing. We left and looked in the sunlight and realized the stylist did not leave the foils in long enough or did not use a high enough developer because the foils underneath were bright blonde but the ones around her hair line and in front *the most important!* were left yellow, dark, and brassy. ( even though she paid extra for toning!) This place is basically like going to Sam's or great clips but paying like your going somewhere luxury. Bahhh never again. read more

I first tried this place with a groupon and Rachel did my hair. It did cost more for my long hair. My hair was lighter than I had expected but I loved it! I am the type to find a great deal and then look for another great deal. Well, I decided i wanted a new haircut style and I knew i should go back and see Rachel. I am so happy, I did. I now have a shoulder length style with one side a little longer than the other. It's so cute and i didn't even know my natural wave could look so healthy since it's shorter. I haven't been in since January of this year (because of me, not them!) I decided to try them because they are close to my house. I was a big skeptical because the prices seemed kinda low for the services that they were offering. I loved it! The two stylist that were working that day were fun and engaging! I had hair 3 inches below the shoulder. I was in one of my "cut it all off!!!" phases. She played with my hair for a little while because I have a ton of colics and she wanted to make sure that the type of cut I got would work with hair that literally goes everywhere. We talked about coloring option for me which I will likely to do next time. I am 65% gray and she provided me a lot of education about why the all over colors are hard with my type of hair. She showed me all sorts of options so that I wouldn't have to get my hair re-colored every 3-4 weeks. My cut was really great. I headed off to central america for a week after that. I got tons of compliments and she did a really wonderful job of giving me a cut that works with super obnoxious "humid hair". The cut made my hair just look cute and curly! Overall, I was really impressed with the experience top to bottom. The staff was awesome and fun. They do amazing work for more than reasonable prices. I think their hours are flexible enough for most folks. I will return, it's on my list!!! read more

I live just blocks from here and found a Groupon (Cut, single color, and style) so I was excited to try this place out. It had been years since I had my hair done properly so I was really looking forward to it. Three and half hours later and an additional $120 dollars (not including my $40 Groupon) for full highlight, long hair fee, conditioning treatment and her tip) I'm not satisfied. The stylist was nice enough and talked me into highlights and the conditioning treatment. I figured I'd treat myself. The colors I was shown before dying my hair is not even close to what it turned out looking like on my head. I thought it was okay when I left the salon but now that I'm home I'm still seeing the grays that I specifically wanted completely gone and according to my mom and husband I spent a lot of money to hardly see a difference in my hair. While I do see it's much lighter on top it doesn't blend and show contrast the way you would expect when getting a solid dark color with highlights. Overall, the color isn't bad (not at all what I wanted) but I paid a lot extra for something I wasn't expecting. The stylist kept saying how pretty is was and I told her I was surprised at how light it turned out and she said "Me too." She explained my hair holds color a certain way and that going forward we'll get it to where it "should be." I'm guessing she meant the color I actually wanted it. In addition, it took forever to do everything. Three and half hours is just way to long. I would have liked more layers and, to be fair, she offered but I just wanted to leave at that point. I might have considered another star but while I was in the chair a client in the next chair started saying derogatory/negative statements about my religion (obviously not knowing that I practice that religion) and the stylist/owner jumped on her bandwagon. I spoke up to the client but the stylist continued with her "thoughts" and so I tried to ignored her since I was upset. My stylist later apologized for the client and I didn't get into it further other than saying people don't understand. Despite the pleasantries with my stylist, when leaving and talking about coming back, in reality, I will not be returning. read more

Called and made an appt for my hair, which was a mess. I had three inches of gray and then a mix of brown and highlighted hair. I am sick of paying huge bucks to get it colored and even tired of doing it myself. I was a bit nervous when I was able to get in in only one day and the whole Groupon thing. (isn't that usually a sign that businesses are not doing well?) By the time I got there, I convinced myself that no matter how much it cost, it would be a relief to have the mess taken care of. Within about two minutes, any fears that I had were laid to rest. Carle is a real gem. It seemed like she put about two hundred foils in. I had told her as far as what I wanted to be done that I didn't know and didn't care, just fix it. (Did I tell you that we really hit it off?!) She is extremely skilled and when she turned me around and I discovered that I now have blonde hair I had to laugh. I am always jealous of my blonde friends because their gray doesn't show and now I am one of them. I cannot sing the praises of this salon loudly enough. If you want chic and trendy the decor will turn you off, but if you want to feel like you just had lunch with friends who happened to be taking care of the disaster that is your hair, then you will love it. Their prices are incredibly reasonable. Even without the Groupon it would have been half what I paid for the same services last time. I will DEFINITELY be back. read more

Bought a groupon for this place. My hair was down to my waist. The purpose was to donate my hair and that I wanted it off my neck. I kept telling her that. She kept saying not to worry about donating it, it was going to be a shock going so short. I'd say I realized it was going to be REALLY short and I was ok with that. She'd say it was best to cut it in stages to be sure I was happy with the length. I'd reiterate my goal was to donate and I didn't care that it would be all gone. Finally she rubber banded 2 pony tails. I thought finally I'd gotten my point across. She cut it below my shoulders & TOO SHORT TO DONATE. I could've died. At that point, I just kept with "I need it off my neck... either long enough it put up or short enough to be off". What I ended up with was a cut that came to my collar - too short to pull back or put up and long enough it was ALWAYS on my neck. She kept telling me how great it looked, etc. I was miserable. I ended up going back the day to get it fixed hoping to get one of the other stylists. No such luck. She was pleasant but it felt very awkward. All in all it was the worst hair experience of all time for me. read more

I bought the Groupon and had a great experience. I will return. The information about the extra fee is on the Groupon. My hair was way below my shoulders; since I wanted it taken up almost to the shoulders I did not have to pay the full $25. I thought it could have been reduced a bit more but it was still a great deal. And like I said, the length fee is noted on the Groupon. The salon itself is pretty small, it's not the shiniest place but everything seemed clean and nice. Best of all, my hair looks great. It is the best cut I have had in a long time. I got very nice layers, she took her time and put some extra effort in to make them look good with my hair type - something I think has really been lacking from the other stylists I've been to recently. Beware of the groupon. According to the woman I spoke with on the phone, if your hair is even a little bit past your shoulders, you will pay a $25 fee. The place is so rude, I walked out before they even had a chance to touch my hair. I wasn't impressed when I walked through the door so I think a bigger headache was avoided. The place is unkept, and I wasn't even greeted, though the employees had no problem talking among themselves. 20 minutes after my appointment and still no smile, I was told it would be higher than the advertised price. I purchased the groupon and also got an all over color. Brandy initially said the all over color was $46, but then corrected herself and said $49. Yet, I then heard Rachel tell a customer it was $46, but I was charged $49. Then for the "partial" highlight Brandy told me it was actually the "Mohawk" section. Because she did such a small portion, she had to go back and do additional foils, yet she didn't tone the additional ones so the highlights vary in color. I ended up spending the same as I would at my typical salon, yet I received less highlights which are all different colors and the service wasn't the best....not to mention I feel like I was ripped off and maybe $3 is petty, but it's bad business. Not to mention was rushing at the end and I left feeling as if she didn't even style my hair. That was a waste of $99! read more

I went in for a cut and color. I was getting about 6 inches cut and the stylist did not listen to how I wanted my haircut. There were 0 layers and the back hung much longer than the sides- no style or shape. I was disappointed. The floor was very dusty, hair everywhere, and not well kept. There was no clean area in the bathroom, either. Lastly, I was using a Groupon and they charged me an extra $16 fee for "long hair", even though my hair was above my shoulders before she did the foils. Very deceiving to add that on top of the Groupon- which was covering a Cut & full foil. I will not return. The two ladies were really nice, so it's sad the customer service was not up to par. This is my first ever yelp review and I'm sorry to report that I was "inspired" by my worst haircut ever. I purchased a groupon for single process color (that worked out well, hence the one-star rating) but the cut was so bad I am embarrassed to leave home without hair in a ponytail. The cut was lopsided and I did not realize this until I flat-ironed it at home. When I arrived back to the salon to have Brandy even out the cut, she immediately picked up the thinning shears (scissors with "teeth") and spent 15min on the side that was SHORTER despite my asking her to stop and focus on cutting the longer side to balance with the shorter. Also, she did not wash my hair or even wet it, she just immediately picked up the thinning scissors I had asked her not to use and did not listen to me. Short of jumping out of the chair or yelling I did not know what to do to stop her after I had asked her to stop with no response from her. I was too polite (MN nice) to jump up or yell so I just sat there and watched her mutilate my hair further. That's on me, but really Brandy, it's important to listen to the customer and at least pause to look at the hair before cutting. I kept hoping for the best but when she finished I had longer strands just hanging off on one side in the front. In summary: the first cut was lopsided and the "fix" was worse. If you want a single process color see Brandy, just don't let her near your hair with scissors read more
