The shop offers hair and waxing only, so there is no strong smell of artificial nails permeating the area. Oakland is a small town, but folks come from other area towns because Renee and Diann are so good. This shop has the feel of a corner coffee shop in that the owners are approachable, friendly, and kind. I always see someone I know. Gossip is not the main focus. I leave with an excellent hair cut. But that could have been handled a WHOLE lot better. The next day (!) someone called and let me know there would be a credit for the cost of my haircut if I wanted to call and reschedule the color, which is really the LEAST anyone could do, but honestly it was such an afterthought that I just have no desire to ever go back, credit or no. The haircut was ok (the second one) but I think I'm going to pass; this salon had one chance to make me feel pretty, and like I mattered. No one even offered to wash my hair, which I had specifically left filthy for the color. Boo
