She took great care of me and was very detailed when prepping my nails, all while being personable yet professional. She truly cares about sanitation and even gave me the file she used at the end of my service. Her station was clean and organized. This is coming from someone who holds 3 licenses with the State Board of Cosmetology, so I know what to look for! I have attached 2 unedited photos taken right after checking out. He is fun, he listens, he goes above and beyond in customer service, he is realistic about what can and should be done with hair in order to maintain the health of your hair in the process. He is passionate about using the best products and techniques and is on the cutting edge of what's current. My cut and color were superb and when he noticed a few weeks later that it was getting brassy, he went out of his way to fit me in for additional toning because he takes so much pride in his work and in his client's satisfaction. One of the only people I've ever encountered who has told me I tipped too much (and, tried to give some back!?- ) I tip high because my hair is a beast that must be tamed. But she thoroughly explained the vision she had for my hair and made it happen. We went with a full highlight while smudging the roots to create a more cohesive blend, toner to take away the brass and a trim. The environment of the salon was calming and relaxing. The best designer in Hilo!…read more I have been in Hilo for a few years, and a great haircut is not easy to come by. Especially if you have curlier hair and cowlicks. I asked Jon (the stylist) to bring life into my shoulder-length hair, that was at this point, a blunt dull drag. He added some bleach-free highlights or "lifts" and blended all of my layers back in. There was a time in my life when I had luxurious Victoria's Secret-esque layers...and I have had so many janky cuts over the past few years that I pretty much said goodbye to that style. Jon gave me a heavy trim, and evened things back out. He is from this island, however he has done hair in California for over a decade and done a wide variety of work, including male cuts.
