I have been going to Barbara for myself and my daughter for many years now. The first time though, I sort of never told her my name and shied from her eyes. I was embarrassed this salon in SV butchered & burned my hair. I came in with the most fried hair, mismatched colors you could ever see, along with a whiny toddler in tow. She was so nice with me about bringing an irate toddler in. She brought out a bit of a momma tone, and was so sweet. Had my kiddo playing in some toys, and gave her a hair brush (like she was using on mommas hair) to play with. Next thing i know my hair is washed, deep conditioned, trimmed, and back to my natural color. I cant thank her enough. Now, years later, we are friends. My daughter has gone to her a couple times and loved the results. My 5 friends I referred to seen her and all looked amazing after and continue seeing her. She is a kind, gracious, caring, loving person. The fact she is an amazing hair lady is just a wonderful bonus. Oh, her salon is like a tree house. There is a redwood growing through the building. She offered to make it right when I complained on social media but I am too chicken to take her up on it. What a great experience. My 8 yr old feisty and very tender headed daughter had a massive dread in the back of her head. The human squirrel-nest formed after many weeks of early morning embattlements of me: "brush it or cut it" vs her "no no and no!" So we are driving along 9 and lo & behold a salon is open on Monday! School pics are tomorrow so my daughter and I go in, meet Barbara and she welcomes us like we've had reservations for weeks. She treats my daughter with respect and engages her. She offers great suggestions (I cut hair as a novice), and the experience is positive all around. In the end, my daughter leaves with a beautiful A-line, layered cut with side swept bangs (she has several cowlicks & wavy hair) Max her twin brother keeps telling her, "Wow, I really like you with short hair". Barbara absolutely BUTCHERED my hair. I came in asking for an ombré and I left with about ten different colors in my hair. I could probably have done a better job myself using drug store dye instead of spending $80 on this garbage. She faked confidence in her ability to do what I wanted and it wasn't until halfway through that she basically went "uh oh" and realized that she had no clue what she was doing. I've been dying my hair for a very long time and I've never had more damage in ten years than I do now because of this nightmare dye job. My hair was perfect and healthy this morning and now it is cracked, snapping, and so dry the Sahara seems like an oasis. I will NEVER step foot in this salon ever again. I have never cried over a dye job before, but I am bawling with both rage and sadness over the loss of my beautiful hair. It will take me YEARS to grow back and fix what Barbara killed. read more

Barbara keeps an "old-school" card file on your haircut, but it does lead to mostly consistent hair cuts. Barbara's prices are also reasonable. Call ahead to make an appointment. read more

I was very unhappy with my haircut. I went in to get my hair cut for a concert and she was rushing the whole time even thou i was 10 minutes early. The office is very unorganized and gross. The carpet is ripped and wet, there is a redwood tree in the middle of her office, it smells musky overall her office was unprofessional. I showed her three pictures of the hairstyle of all angels and from the start it wasn't anything like the pictures. She was talking on her phone for most of the time and just kept bad mouthing other salons and calling them chop shops. At least my normal "chop shop" can cut hair. I came here because my regular place "ideal hair" was booked. Never again. read more
