My stylist has left this business so I followed her to her new establishment. I love the way she cuts and colours my hair... and honestly the other stylists they never seems to be someone I would trust with my hair. Now as for the vibe... there isn't a vibe. I cannot say enough positive things!! I was having a crisis where my usual stylist had cancelled an appointment for my routine bang trim to make room on her schedule for a higher-paying job. Not only was I hurt and frustrated, but I was panicked because I was graduating in a couple weeks and didn't know who else to go to. Any girl with bangs will understand that it's so rare to find someone who listens and cuts them just right, and when they're messed up there is NO hiding them. I saw a girl in my work parking lot with amazing bangs and ran up and asked her who did them. She sent me here to see Jamie, and I immediately called and left a voicemail. Jamie called me back the next day and saw me the following week for an appointment. She looked at my pictures, listened to me, and asked questions to make sure we were on the same page. She took her time and made sure that they were exactly what I wanted. I was so happy that I got in my car and teared up afterwards. Never underestimate the impact of a stylist who cares and treats your bang trim like it's the most important cut of her day. She was so kind and I will absolutely be coming back. read more

I walked into Hair Expectations early Wednesday evening with the intention of receiving a medium-lengthed haircut. I showed the beautician several photos of what I wanted, not only on myself, but on other people. She confirmed and pointed to another client in the building with very short hair. I specifically stated NO and explained why that haircut would not work on me. I continued to explain as she was washing my hair the length I wanted. As we got to the chair, I noticed extremely long pieces falling into my lap. I was less than thrilled. She thinned out my hair and it was literally an entire wig full on the ground and when I brushed my fingers through it. I went home and immediately after leaving, started CRYING in my car, because she did not do any of it as directed. My hair is now just below my ears, when I asked for it to be longer than my shoulders. I waited about an hour to contact the place because I was extremely upset/angry. I called over there and discussed this directly with the beautician who did my hair. I maintained my composure and asked for a refund or for her to actually fix it for me. She argued with me and told me that I would not be getting a refund either and then proceeded to hand up on me. I was VERY disappointed with my service and will NOT be going back to this place. It's unfortunate that her unprofessional, ignorant attitude lost a client that would most definitely refer if I had a good experience. After going to Thuan Le for 3 years for bleach & tone for my blonde hair, something awful happened. She was having an off day. Bleach on for 40 minutes & rinse & tone is the process. She sets a timer. I must have Redken products to avoid allergic reaction. It was time to rinse bleach & I was at the sink which she made comfortable with a pillow. I also always wear a smock & remove my blouse after having had several t-shirts ruined by bleach. She stopped the rinsing & said I needed more. Again put bleach on some spots & I sat & waited again. What happened is that she burned my hair & scalp!! A spot on my bangs is still not growing normally. This is 6 months later. I called Thuan & she refused to accept what happened. Did not offer refund either. The place is very clean but smocks are not offered until you ask. It is a beautiful salon. No Senior discounts days offered. Loyal customer for 3 years did not matter. read more

While I can't speak for any of the other stylists, Thuan Le has been cutting my hair for over 15 years and I WILL NEVER go anywhere else. The salon itself is clean and inviting and I'm always greeted as soon as I walk in the door. Based on my experience I can DEFINITELY recommend this business. I have wanted a Brazilian Blowout for some time. Jamie was recommended to me by a friend. I am so glad I had it done. Jamie worked with purpose, completely attentive to her work with me. She was very pleasant, but not overly talkative as she worked diligently and calmly. My hair came out even better than I had hoped- my colleagues at my workplace were amazed and extremely complimentary. Never has my hair been so soft and healthy! I went in for partial highlights- $55. Very good price- UNTIL Jamie sat me down & told me it'd cost $145!! She was quite rude when i asked how could a $55 job turn out to cost $145! She added a timer, which i told her i didn't want. She insisted. (i've gotten my hair highlighted for years- i've never had a toner pushed on me) She added a long hair fee (only my roots needed color). All this from a stylist with ashy blue tips in her own hair- I KINDLY DECLINED. THIS PLACE WAS AN "ADD ON" HELL. It tells me their business isn't doing well. read more

Be careful if you're having Thuan Lee (Twan) cut your hair at Hair Expectations. I came in months ago just wanting a color. She convinced me to get a cut. Had longer hair..middle of my back. I told her as long as it's not at my shoulders. She replied that she wouldn't do that to me. Well, when she was done the color was great, but sure enough she chopped it off right to my shoulders!! I could not believe it! When I confronted her she lied & said she only cut a little. She said that SHE liked it as if that mattered. Well, I told her I didn't! It may have looked healthier, but it was the opposite of what I wanted. This lady will do whatever she chooses. If you don't care about your hair at all just go to her. I later went to a salon in Chicago for a blow dry. They ended up having to clean up the bad haircut. By the way, my pic here from last year. read more

The whole salon is very nice; clean, classy and pleasant. Jamie is the best. She's been cutting my mother-in-laws hair for some time and usually does mine. I made the mistake of going to Touch of Class on Taylor across from Public and had the worst experience of my life. Thank you Jamie for fixing the mess they created. read more

I have been going to this salon for at least 5 years and have always had a good experience. The shop is clean and welcoming. Everyone is friendly and aim to please. My original stylist, who I bonded with on my first visit, got married and moved out of town. She recommended Shannon, who I have been seeing now for a more than a year and happy to report she has stepped up to the plate and I am very happy with her style. Twan, the owner, is fabulous! We were passing through town and I needed my color done. On blind faith, I walked into her salon and I was happy that she could get me in that day. Afterward, I was thrilled that Twan did my hair! She did a great job! She applied an all-over color AND highlights (a nerve-wracking experience when you don't know the stylist) but I couldn't be happier! In fact, we're passing through again in November and I'm already planning to have Twan do my color again! read more

First off a stylist who says she has done hair for over 20 years totally fried my hair and left me with a bald spot on the front hairline from breakage. I had very long hair and because of the condition my hair was left in, it is now shoulder length. When I went back in to show Twan the owner she tried to say it looked ok and that's because I already had 4 in. Removed. It was suppose to be a spiral. Not what I got. I wasn't paying for ok. So I went ahead and let another stylist there try to fix the mess with color and cut. The stylist chose a color for me which I liked but the owner told her to use something lighter. It did not cover the grey. Owner said well there are just a few grey hairs they will blend in. Again not paying to blend grey in, paying to cover grey. Thank you Lesley for the attempt to correct someone else's mess next time go with your gut and don't ask someone else's opinion ultimately I believe you chose the right color.. Twan is not very good at cooperating with her patrons. Ok rant over. Bottom line is owner needs to correct her stylist problems and not try to tell a patron something looks good so she doesn't have to give money back. If I could give 0 stars that's what I would give. Also stylist who attempted to fix my hair told Twan that I needed to come back in for conditioning treatments cause hair was so bad, but Twan would not do that unless I paid for them. Terrible! ! Rude staff, bad lighting and mirrors, bad haircut every time. Try too hard to get money out of you and being watched by the asain lady. The asian woman there is not polite and these women all seem catty and gossipy about clients. Never again!! They want to seem professional but all you get instead is an uppity attitude and bad service. I went there 2 years ago without a good idea what I wanted done with my hair. I asked for something cute and fun bc I was trying to grow out my short hair. I got a SUPER young razor cut style that would possibly look good on a 21 year old. I did not like it. I am sure there people are good, but they did not do well on my hair. read more

If you have long thick hair do not go here! Jaime took several chunks out of my hair when she thinned it out & several thin pieces. My hair is so uneven now & ruined! I've never had anyone mess my hair up so bad! I always tip well to! It's really a shame! read more
