Because I had a small number of people that needed makeup services (myself, my mom, and my sister-in-law) I worked with Taylor instead of Kate for my wedding, but both of them were at my trial and were super thorough and listened to exactly what I wanted, making adjustments as needed. They were also both very excited about my nontraditional bridal vision and created a look that complemented it perfectly. On the morning of my wedding, Taylor arrived promptly and was super warm, bubbly, and easygoing; we had such a great time getting our makeup done, she made it super relaxing and fun. After reading the reviews and checking out Vanity's website, I knew this was the salon for me to start my locs. Although they specialized in sister locs I knew I could trust them installing my traditional locs. Before installations you're required to the have a consultation. My consultation was with the owner Natasha and she was great! She explained to me everything I needed to know before I started my locs. She answered any questions I had and made me feel at ease. The knowledge and professionalism she had reassured me that I found a great salon and I couldn't wait to get started. I'm currently a few months into my traditional locs journey and I love how they're turning out. Not only do the stylist know what they're doing, they take their time and make sure you're satisfied. While getting your hair done they put on the TV for you in case you want entertainment and are always checking in with you to make sure you're okay. I changed up what I wanted and took in photos to show the new direction, but my stylist refused to give me the cut. Twice. Instead, she continued cutting in a shape that was unflattering to my forhead, all the while criticizing...my forehead. I was so unhappy with my hair that I didn't like leaving the house. My stylist also took to criticizing my hair and my cowlick "for my age," not something I needed to hear in a beauty salon. After the second refusal to cut my hair the way I wanted it, I moved on. I have found another place that I am happy with. It's a good salon for certain kinds of clients, but not for me. I'm going to a barber, who doesn't have hurtful commentary on my age.
