I hesitate to complain about this salon because the people there are friendly and aim to please, BUT, I booked an appointment online with a "master designer" and it was pretty obvious to me about 5 minutes into my haircut that she had no plan on how to cut my hair. She barely combed it out before she started cutting, and never put one clip in my hair to section the areas she was about to cut (I have thick hair) with layers. When I told her the back needed to be shorter, she basically just started grabbing clumps of hair and started cutting. I'm lucky that my hair has natural wave so it will grow out okay - but beware of the "master" designer title, cuz this one had nooooo clue. Very nice but clueless. read more

I am usually very supportive of businesses and even when I see a lack in services I let it go but when businesses are focused on dishonesty and falsehood then I try to show the real picture. I called before I went to this establishment and asked about the prices. I was Told that the ladies aircut costs $25 and color is according to aur length and all so cannot be quoted over the phone. When we reached the establishment the lady at the counter called the specialist and she took me away for consultation. Came back to the counter and started doing something in the computer and than said the total would be $125, I asked how much you guys are charging for the cut and how much for the color (remind you it was just a toot touch up). She said we charge $25 for the cut and we have a special if you get it done together and it about 125-120 I don't exactly know but around that number and right behind her I could see the banner saying special for cut and root touch up for $65 or $75. I believe in long term business partnerships and I think this establishment lost a potential customer. read more

I checked-in online to get a haircut here as I was in the area and was due for a haircut. I had been here before but not in recent time. When I checked-in, I got three options for choosing a hairstylist. First one was with a (senior?) master stylist for $23, then a (junior?) master stylist for $20 or $21 and a regular hairstylist (Whitney, at that time) for $18. I was going to get just a standard haircut (no shampoo or blow dry business) so I went with Whitney. When I got here, I checked-in and I was told that there was just a few minutes wait. They were somewhat busy. I didn't have to wait long. Once I got seated, Whitney asked me how I wanted my hair cut. And after my explanation, Whitney worked her magic and gave me a proper haircut that I was looking for. She was friendly and helpful. I would recommend going with her. I had a good experience on this visit. I was satisfied by my haircut and the service I received. I have had good experience here in the past when I lived in the area. Let me just start off saying I love this place. Even when I was new going in for the first time, everyone was SUPER friendly and helpful and that was really reassuring. I went in with badly damaged hair and after treatments and finding the right color for me thanks to the magician Jenna, it's been great! She gestured me to try treatment for my hair and everyone there always says they can tell I'm using it and that my hair looks super healthy and that they're proud:). I've been growing out my pixie since January, i asked the stylist to trim the back since it grows faster than the front. I told her to not touch the front at all, she then proceeded to chop my hair. The haircut looks sloppy, there are chunks of missing hair since she started to cut around the ear which I asked not to do, the back is a disgrace. I asked her to trim the neck hair and she ignored me. This is the third time I am leaving a hair salon in tears, hair cuttery has lost a customer, beware of this place. You're taking a gamble because you don't know how much experience each stylist has. worst of the manager didn't even apologize and didn't look clearly and the damage that was done. read more

If I could give 0 stars. Most rude and racist salons ever. I had the same experience thrice and hence I am writing the review now. The stylists (few of them) are rude, racist. If you are late by 2 min they will cancel your appointment (had happened to me 3 times) but if thr delay in their side, they will make you sit. Specially in my case when tried to ask the stylist after waiting for 20 min(who was chatting with other client who arrived late) refused to provide service. Their customer service is even worst. No action is taken so far (that's why the stylists was so confident that nothing will happen) Worst experience ever and despite of being their loyal customer for 9 years unfortunately I will stop going there. Dont fall for their "standard" reply to all the reviews. Yes I submitted the experience on link given in the reply long back and multiple time. I tried to tweet but no reply. You proved my point that reviews from people from certain race doesn't matter for you. And yes we are good tipper and still we face most arrogant and rude behavior. You know, the kind that makes you cringe when you look at yourself, and the insincerity from those who tell you your hair looks nice is so transparent? Why would I get my hair cut in Hoffman Estates? I was in Schaumburg for a really fun family picnic at Busse Woods. Some of my former students invited me. We had a blast. Before we headed back to Chicago, I decided to get my hair cut (something I do at most 3 times annually), and figured if I drove east or west on Golf Rd., I'd surely find a Hair Cuttery. Why a Hair Cuttery? I had a decent haircut last time I tried it, and I like the $13 price. So, why I drove west rather than east, I don't know. But in fact, I found a Hair Cuttery a few miles west, in Hoffman Estates. The girl who cut my hair was one of the sweetest morons I've ever met. I told her to give me the same haircut I already had, but to take off an inch and clean it up. She wacked the crap out of the back of my hair, which has been on the long side for years. It's all gone. My curls are gone. She tapered the back. It's not me. I'm so bummed. Apparently, I am stupid. read more

This is one of the best hair cutterys that I have been to! Everyone is super nice and make you feel at home. The hair stylist Amy Sutherland is phenomenal. Anything I throw at her she can do! She is honest about your hair and gives good advise if needed which I do often! She is an expertise when it comes to hair! I've had my hair go from bright purple to platinum in a pinch for a wedding I was in and Amy took care of it no problem. Was scared the purple wouldn't come out but she is so awesome it was more beautiful then the blonde before it she had done! Ask for Amy you won't be sorry!!! read more

DO NOT GET EYEBROWS DONE HERE. Haircuts are hit or miss, and I'm giving an extra star because we're in a pandemic and I truly feel bad putting a business down but people need to be aware. I've had my eyebrows done here (Hoffman location) at least 10 times over the last 3 years and with many different people. Some of the times have been satisfactory, others okay, but today was the last straw. The girl literally waxed a huge section of my eyebrow with hair on each side (see picture). I thought it was odd she didn't pluck that side at all, and then flashed the mirror at me when she was done so I couldn't see but I didn't think too much of it. She also asked if I was going anywhere after to which I said no and asked why, her response was she was putting aloe on (which she smothered all over, way more than usual). Although it's not weird to put the aloe on, her asking if I was going anywhere as well as putting a ton on should have been another red flag but I didn't see it at the time. Gave her 30% tip and went to my car, started driving, looked in the mirror and immediately went back to the store. She straight up lied and said my brow was like that when I came in... lol absolutely not. I had pictures and videos I had taken of myself an hour before with my normal, full eyebrows. The other lady (perhaps manager, not sure) was polite and gave me a refund without asking, but had the girl who botched my brows admitted her mistake and not lied to my face I would have respected her mistake way more and probably wouldn't have shared this traumatic experience with the public. It's now 4 hours later and my eyebrow is still red and hurts, I seriously don't understand how she could have messed it up so bad. I've been getting my eyebrows done for 15 years and have never had an experience like this. I always figured Hair Cuttery should be a respectable place to get eyebrows done since they advertise it and have licensed people working there, but I will never recommend getting waxing done here and ESPECIALLY not at this location. read more

I wanted an overall trim and shaping to my very curly hair. Whitney spent about 10 minutes (including the wash) trimming some parts, mainly the front and bottom. She didn't touch any of the layers. When she was done, I looked at the floor and commented, "is that all you took off?" There was maybe a tablespoon of hair dotting the floor. She said she got all the dead ends. This morning, very unhappy with the sham cut, I went back and asked for someone other than Whitney to trim it. OMG, another employee started arguing with me, telling me that if I wanted to notice the cut, I should have asked for at least an inch to be taken off. Together they ganged up on me and made me feel like I'd never gotten a hair cut in my life. Wow! I thought they guaranteed satisfaction. Instead, I got beat up because I'm unhappy with the sham of a cut. Avoid this place like the coronavirus! Avoid Whitney. Do yourself a favor, go to the hair cutting joint down the street. If i could gove 0 stars i would. Went there ONE time, my first time, some 22 yr old girl who was still in school was cutting my hair. I only asked for a trim, 2 inches off. When i left and got home, i realized one side was COMPLETELY shorter than the other by at LEAST an inch. NEVER go here. I will never come back. read more

She literally did my hair for 10 minutes, didn't even ask me where I part my hair, she assumed it was on the right side and finally told her um no it's the other side. She commented on my color , I have balayage and I did my roots and she's like "ya I could tell" wow! It's fine if she has been cutting my hair for years, but no don't be rude and comment like that to your first time customer!! I was shocked! Anyways she cut my layers so short that it looked like I had a wedge in the back and didn't not look like a lob at all! I left my name, went to lunch, and returned to find I was 1 on the list, was seated soon after. Emily S. listened to what I wanted and cut my long, elbow-length hair. It turned out shorter than I thought, but when it's wet it always appears longer, then draws up when dry. Emily asked permission to use a couple of hair products, did a thorough blow dry as agreed, and said she loved helping people feel good about themselves when they walkout. I always get my hair cut here and I never ask for a certain stylist but I chopped off a good 5+ inches and I absolutely love it! Ask for a woman named Angela, she is awesome! She communicates with you as she cuts and asks you how you want it. If you're planning on going for a completely different look, bring in pictures and show her! I was in town for a concert and I wanted to get my haircut but I didn't arrive into town until late and I had thought I would have to wait until the next morning and possibly ruin some of my plans for the day. I stopped into this place right at if not after closing times but Danni happily greeted me inside and another nice couple. She seated me right away and we had a nice conversation about different topics and she really listened to me about what kind of style I was looking for and it turned out great! Most others would not try their best after a long day at work and then still after knowing I was from out of town and would not be a repeat customer in the future(unless i'm in town again lol)...Danni was pure awesomeness and even recommended some nice restaurants in the area. I had originally seen Annalise when I started coming here. Once she went on maternity leave, I started going to Chloe. Chloe was amazing, refer to my original review, but she moved out of state. I started seeing Annalise again and I am so happy I did. She is absolutely fantastic. I brought in a picture and she knew exactly what to do. Needed a haircut on a busy Sunday afternoon. (Good luck with getting immediate attention from ANYWHERE without an appointment) Was told the walk-in time would be about an hour but I could check-in online and that would help the wait time a little. Went online, checked in (They already have everything on file through my phone number so that all was linked nicely) ran a couple errands, and within that hour I was in a chair getting my hair cut by Vilma. Such a nice woman, and super attentive to my needs. She was able to offer up a bunch of suggestions for my dry, damaged hair. I have been trying so hard to get my hair's integrity back after a massacre of a dye job earlier this year. (that's another story and HC has been instrumental in keeping my sanity.) She gave me a fabulous treatment, cut, and blow-dry. I can't stop playing with my hair, I love it so much. A total 180 from the day before. She also shaped my eyebrows beautifully while I sat during my conditioning treatment. I'll definitely be a regular at this location. They seem to be a well-oiled machine and know what they're doing. I needed a haircut and I made a check in with Emily, but one of the associates asked if i wanted someone who's available now, so i said sure. I never had a bad experience with them before so i was open to it. The lady Diana was pretty specific and looked like what she was doing. As she kept measuring my hairs to the shortest one, i felt iffy. The haircut itself took around 10ish minutes, usually for me it lasts around 30. The end results were not how i expected, my haircut looked like a bunch of staircases and she didnt bother trimming any portions to even anything out. I was surprised on how her technic was so different compared to others. I asked if she could trim a little to make everything more flowy, but she said that it would mess up my length. I had to go home and my grandma had to fix all of my layers without making my hair shorter. read more
