I had taken off of work and needed my hair colored for an event. I couldn't even find an appointment elsewhere in time. Bait and switch, unfriendly. I walked in to get a trim and a little shaping. The stylist said it would be 22 dollars for a cut and dry. That seemed reasonable, since I didn't need much done. The stylist had no interest in talking to me. The only time she spoke was when I asked a question or try to initiate conversation. Then her answers were a couple words, then back into silence. When finished, she walked me to the cash register and the charge was 32 dollars!! I asked what the extra 10 bucks was for. She said my hair was long, so she had to charge me 10 extra dollars. I walked in with the same length hair, and she quoted me 22 dollars. My hair didn't grow longer between the front door and the chair! I am giving this store 2 stars instead of 1, as I noticed a couple other stylists were friendly and actually spoke (and smiled!) with their customers. I won't be back. There are 3 salons at the mall across the street, all less expensive and more courteous. read more

I can't remember my hairstylists name, he was very nice so I kind of feel bad posting this. He asked me if I usually wear my bob haircut angled (longer in front, shorter in back) I said no, but still walked out with an angled bob. He asked me if I normally have layers in my hair, said yes and showed him a picture from the last time my hair was just cut. No layers were shaped up or cut into it. I have side-swooping bangs and he cut them by placing the back of his hand on my face and chopping them diagonally. They were so uneven due to his hand running over my nose, eye socket, etc, while he was cutting. Against my better judgment I continued with the second part of my appointment which was an eyebrow wax. He told me he wouldn't wax under the eyebrow since it wasn't bad although I asked him to do so anyway because hair does grow there. Half of my left eyebrow got ripped off, and is only now grown back fully. Nice man, not a super great stylist. read more

Since moving to Bourbonnais 8 years ago this has been my go-to place however given my experience the last three times I have been there I will NOT be back. The most recent visit put the icing on the cake and confirmed my already back and forth decision about not returning. The stylist I had could careless if she spoke to me or not, very dry and more concerned about the other stylists in the store. I could tell she wasn't paying attention to me, her customer because she asked me three different times how old my daughter was. Everything I said she was spaced out on. I watched very closely as she made sure everything was even all the way around but it wasn't until 4 days later when I straightened my hair that nothing was even. It was so noticeable that my husband walked into the bathroom and without me saying anything he says, well that girl from the Hair Cuttery butchered your hair. He asked to take me back to make it right but the two inches I wanted trimmed had already turned into 3 because her lack of attention and I didn't want that to turn into 5 or 6 so I'm wearing it up alot and letting it grow.
