I walked into Hair Co very upset because I had gotten the worst haircut ever the day before. I told the man who answered the door that I desparatly needed someone to "fix" the mess. He scheduled me with Paige for the next day. I have to say that she gave me the best cut I think I've ever had, plus she's a great personality and it was an enjoyable time. Since then, several days later, my hair has still maintained the style she gave me, which means to me; a great cut. Not happy to do this but I think the owners should know, in the 45 yrs I have been getting mani/pedis this is the absolute worst and....one of the most expensive. It was so bad I walked out shocked and had to process. Sweet girl but zero knowledge. I said "my feet & nail cuticles really need work . No polish just attention. On my feet, no soaking, no scrub, (put a mask on for about 3 min which did nothing), used a grater for 60 seconds, basically just polished my nails. Not sure of breakdown but the total for both was $75.00!!!! On nails, I asked for clean up and buffing. Again no soaking for the cuticles, no polish and she had no idea what buffing meant. I tried to describe and she said she had no idea. When I questioned she said "we don't do spa mani/pedis. Icing on the cake, No massage chairs, just precarious climb to a chair on a pedestal. Not a second of massage Whole process was maybe 30-40 min max. I felt so ripped off and shocked when I left. I have literally had hundreds mani/pedis over the years in many, many cities. I love that this is a safe entry business! Just moved to Coos Bay. The salon has clothing and accessories inside. Indi totally rocked my new haircut. I swear this was my BEST EVER salon haircut experience. She has a light magical touch. She did a bunch of highlights for me, tinfoil galore and not once did she yank, or pull on my hair. I literally fell asleep in the chair several times. I came in with a big huge heavy haircut. Definitely going back again! Will need to try the spa and provide an update on those services read more

I had been a client of this salon for two years, and my first two stylists were exceptional - Jenna and Barri! My most recent stylist is Yvette and I certainly cannot give her the same glowing praise. I have been having my hair colored for many years now, so I have had experience with other stylists. The last visit I had with Yvette, I mentioned that I would like to change my color by adding red to my brown color. She was completely unable to give me a quote for doing this change. She told me that I would have to have a "color correction" and that this could cost anywhere from $150 to $300. Even then, she could not give me an estimate of what I would have to spend. Needless to say, I feel most people want to have an idea of what they are going to spend in advance. I spoke to the owner, Meagan, and she said that all of the stylists are independent contractors and can charge anything they want to. She did not want to get involved in any problem I might be having with Yvette. I think this is short-sighted of her, because her salon's reputation will be affected if customers are dissatisfied with any of the stylists and feel that they have to find another salon because of their dissatisfaction. I will not be going there again. I have found another stylist here in Coos Bay that has 100% positive feedback on Yelp. I am very disappointed about the experience I had with Hair Co. Also, I left the salon after my last appointment with Yvonne with hair dye in spots all over my face. I think it is pretty bad that she didn't take the time to remove the dye before letting me leave the salon. read more

We were traveling from Los Angeles to Coos Bay for a family reunion and we're lucky enough to book two blow outs at Hair Company Etc. before we left. Unfortunately our Airbnb wouldn't budge on our checkin time and it looked like we were gonna be late for our appointments. We called and they happily pushed them later so that we didn't have to rush. Their customer service isn't the greatest - it's actually pretty frustrating the actual services are solid but wayy overpriced. I get it though - it's coos bay what do you expect? Supply and demand - not alot of resources here so businesses jack prices simply because the can and are the only ones in town. Back to customer service, prepare to have your name misspelled thus having multiple accounts in the system, having the receptionist forget about you outside, and the receptionist talking over you on the phone. If there was a more professional receptionist staff and prices reflecting the actual service I would give a higher review. read more

Cannot rate the hair service this place provides because I never got in. I booked my appointment 7/11 for 7/22 at 12:45. I drove down from Eugene to go to this appointment. I get a call at 11:25 on the 22nd saying your appointment is cancelled (after I got a text and confirmed my appointment on 7/21 at 11:45am). She asked to reschedule for Tuesday, mind you I work and I'm not from here. Disappointed really as I made an effort to drive two+ hours for this appointment. I had heard from asking around that the Hair Co. is the best in town. I need my makeup done and my hair styled. Making an appointment was easy, she gave me price quotes and the lady on the phone was very friendly. I showed Nona a picture of the makeup I wanted. She said she could do it but it took her awhile to find the right palette. Besides that and putting on my own mascara (of a brand that clumped my lashes), the experience was fun. Nona was easy going and fun to chat with. All was going well until my brother came over and was like, "Uhh... I wouldn't look in the mirror if I were you." I had black and silver eyeshadow all the way up to my eyebrows and it looked nothing like the picture. I didn't have time to have her redo it, I ended up saying okay and taking off most of the eye makeup and redoing it myself at home. The lady that was scheduled to do my hair got busy with another client and told me that it would be another hour. Eventually she got another stylist to do my hair instead and I was fine with that. Until the lady was yanking strands of hair out of my head while curling it, telling me that they had no anti-frizz products and observing that I should "get something done about my bangs." She said that she would need to just pin little pieces of my hair back or else it would be too much in my face, I agreed and she did. Overall, my hair turned out great. When I got to the counter to pay, my hair was not the $30 that I was quoted on the phone. Oh no, couldn't have been that easy. I was told that I was being charged for an updo because APPARENTLY that's what those little strands she "needed" to pin back were, an updo. I paid the $55 for my hair and $30 for makeup and left. I've heard positive reviews from others but I do my very best to avoid going back to the Hair Co. The only reason I gave it any stars at all is because Nona truly is a very sweet lady. Rachael did a great job on my haircut! I have thick hair and it always looks very bulky. She was able to thin it out for me and make it look less chunky. No one has ever been able to do that for me! My first reintroduction to this salon after a disaster haircut two years ago was to have the stylist assigned to me change to someone else four hours before my appointment. Was not happy about that. I had wanted Jenna but ended up with Paige. It is obvious she doesn't have the experience I wanted. I didn't realize that she gave me such a bad cut until I washed hair the next day. Wanted to clean up the ends so not broken and frizzy. Ended up being worse and uneven. When she put "waves" in my hair she used the flat iron pulling my hair so bad it hurt. It hurt for three days. Didn't want to make a scene at the salon. Will not ever go back. I'm sure they must have some good stylists but I haven't gotten one. Don't take a chance here. read more

I went here for a pedicure. They were able to schedule me the same day I called which was nice. They don't have the massage chairs I'm used to for pedicures, or the bubbling water foot bath. Still a great experience. Krista was sweet and put a lot of time into the pedicure. I got a 10 minute foot massage which was amazing and the paint looked great. A tad on the pricey side for a pedicure ($45) but well worth it. I'm pretty picky when it come to manicures/pedicures and I would definitely go back again. The only reason I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the lack of massage chairs that I so look forward to during pedicures. read more

I went in yesterday for a hair cut, and asked if they took walk in's. The girl up front looked at me like i was stupid so that was my first bummer, i should have turned around and went somewhere else right then... plot twist I STAYED! After she told me someone could squeeze me in (sorry for the inconvenience but here take my money) she asked me to sit and wait or look around in their shop. Now i will say the aesthetic of this place is great! I really really loved the lay out, the decor, the lighting. It was all really beautiful, and looked luxurious! Once i got to meet my stylist I let her know i had some photos of what i wanted, and photos of what i DIDNT want. I do this every time so i don't end up with a hair cut i hate (you see where I'm going with this don't you?) very long story short, she kept my semi long hair behind my shoulders so i couldn't see how much she was cutting off. By the time she pulled my hair to the front it was too late... as I'm sitting there explaining to her I'm engaged looking to take some dead ends off to grow my hair for the wedding she is hacking away. I left with a soccer mom bob (the photo i showed her and begged her not to give me) instead of a light trim with layers. I have never had my hair this short in my life and i hate it. Unfortunately it is too short to put in a pony tail which is what i planned to do until it grew back out. Never have i cried because of a hair cut but sure as shit as soon as i got in the car... the tears just came. Such a bummer. Beautiful building, and the gals were very polite. Unfortutantly i just had the worst eyebrow waxing of my life. Pretty dissapointed, i clearly stated i do not like thin eyebrows, i like them thick and with an arch. All she did was have to follow the line from where i usually get them done in Portland. They came out thin and flat and very uneven on the top. Usually the top isn't waxed, she waxed it and now it's much lower on one brow then the other. I have engagment pictures tomorrow! I would like to give them a better rating but it seems impossible to get in for a haircut. I have tried calling several times, no one answers the phone. I tried leaving messages no one calls me back. I tried walking in and the people who were working ignored me and just continued on with their personal conversation for at least 5-10 minutes while I stood at the counter. Very friendly staff, they even held my baby while my hair was cut. I was able to get an appointment for about an hour after I walked in, which isn't bad. I came back in an hour later to have my hair cut by Mindy (Mandy?) and thought it was going to go well. I will admit I told her I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted but that I was trying to grow it out. We discussed my hair a bit more and I decided I wanted some bangs cut and some layers put into the ends of my hair. She told me the back of my hair was shorter than the sides and that she'd even it out. After the bangs and layers were cut we agreed on face-framing layers. End result? Awesome bangs and horrible rest of my hair. The layers in back are super awkward, the bottom layer is something like 2" longer than the sides. the face-framing layers are not actually face-framing and were cut in a way that is absolutely awful for fine hair like mine. I expect the front ends to split straight up to the roots in the next week; it's happened before. All the time and effort I put into getting my sides and back to be the same length (after an a-line bob) has been wasted as I now have to cut 2" off my length to even it up, again. Which makes it a total of about 3-4" off what I had this morning. Frustrating. Lovely woman, great with bangs, and probably awesome with thick or curly hair. She did not do a good job with my fine hair and our communication sucked. I'm not sure if I wasn't clear or she wasn't listening, but it didn't turn out well. I will be going somewhere else tomorrow to get it as fixed as possible. read more

I absolutely enjoy my time at The Hair Co. Not only is everyone nice and welcoming, but Myka Steele is a wonderful colorist and gives a super haircut. She always asks me what I have in mind when I want a new style or color and gives me great advice on styling tips and the best products to use . I always get a reminder text or phone call the day before my appointments which I really appreciate. I went in for a massage, too expensive, she made me hurt worse. Then went to have my dark roots highlighted blonde. The first words out of my mouth were I want the light brown gone and I don't want to see any red And I want to hide any white hairs I may have- guess what!!! She added dark brown and red brassy highlights to the top of my head I never got any blonde. She was very rough with my hair yanking out the foils in my hair instead of unfolding them. She really pulled and yanked on my head. I didn't get what I asked for even though I said what I wanted over and over. I didn't have my glasses on so I couldn't see what she had done. I want my $ 105.00 bucks back cause she did nothing for me. Now i have to pay someone else to fix what she did to my hair. Had surgery the next day so I couldnt go back. Will try to have some one else fix my hair. Don't go here they don't know what they are doing. read more
