I'm so glad I booked my haircut at Gather! Not only is it a lively, welcoming, non-pretentious place (sometimes hard to find in the good salon world) but I honestly feel like I could get my hair done by any stylist in there and walk out with something I love. I've had cuts done by both Violet and Stephanie H. (both absolute rock stars) and I have never gotten this many compliments on my hair in my life! They really understand hair there. (I have wavy hair and only air dry now and I swear it looks better than when I used to heat style.) Janelle in reception is also fabulous and super helpful. The prices here are very reasonable for the excellent service they provide. Finally, they have the most amazing selection of hair products, fun clips, great brushes, jewelry, and styling tools, so you can peruse while you wait. Pop on by and check them out!

I've often ended up with hair shorter than I wanted in the past, but Dani really listened to what I was asking for. She delivered a beautiful long, layered cut that felt true to my goals while still giving my hair shape and movement. Even weeks later, I'm still loving it and constantly happy with how it looks. The atmosphere in the shop is calm and relaxing, which really sets the tone for a comfortable, easy, and unhurried experience. I'm already looking forward to going back to her for future services.

I wanted a short silver pixie with visible dimension and texture, and I was very clear that I was comfortable with having more hair cut off. I paid about $300, but unfortunately the result did not resemble what I had asked for enough for me to feel satisfied with either the color or the cut. The color came out much flatter and grayer than the dimensional silver look in my reference photo, and the haircut was much more conservative than I expected. What disappointed me most was the salon's response when I contacted them afterward. I was told that my hair was already very similar to the inspiration photo, that highlights could not be done because my hair was too short, and that once my natural color grew in I would have the "exact look." That explanation did not match what I was seeing in the mirror, and it also left me wondering why those limitations were not discussed clearly before the service was performed and charged at that price. I understand that inspiration photos are not guarantees and that every person's hair is different. I did not expect a carbon copy. I did expect the consultation to result in a shared understanding of what was realistically achievable before a $300 service began. I will be going elsewhere to have the cut and color corrected.

I didn't think it would be possible - but I liked this haircut even more than the last one she gave me (which I absolutely ADORED!). She just did a trim, and didn't take too much off in terms of overall length, but she added in a little bit more longer layers this time - which I love. When getting ready for work in the morning, I have the option of blow drying out my hair to make it sleek and styled OR just scrunching it up from the bottom and letting it air dry - and it dries on my way to work just perfectly. And, the highlight color she put in is just enough - it's noticeable but not in your face obvious that I got my hair highlighted, and looks totally natural while at the same time, lightening everything up. That's how I felt when I moved to Bend with pink and purple balayage on short hair filled with cowlicks. Then word-of-mouth led me to Meleni and I am so grateful! When she did my balayage, she managed to bleach my dark brown hair to a color lighter than ever achieved and didn't fry it. I was used to having to bleach my hair "punk rock style", but Meleni knows her chemistry. My hair still felt like hair after the bleaching! Among her talents: she's an artist with color. I've had three haircuts from Meleni now, and I feel like each time she gets to know my hair, the more amazing the cut. This last one she somehow gave me the perfect Louise Brooks bob that I coveted for decades and had given up on ever having. I'd gone to the Vidal Sassoon salon in NYC, used products and blowdryers, and here was effortless hair! Meleni is also fun and cool to talk with, she's a true gem in Bend!
