My…read morehair desperately needed color and my stylist in NC had to cancel before I left for vacation so I found myself looking quite drab and in need of color and highlights for our first trip to the Keys. I was nervous choosing someone after only looking at photos and reviews on Yelp but after the owner, Melissa was kind enough to make time for me in her already booked schedule and seemed as excited as I was to give me a new look I knew I had made the right choice. I had chosen a photo I loved from her website which happened to be one of the more involved processes - Bayalage and takes quite a bit longer. She came in early and spent over half a day giving me the look I had dreamed of and even did an extra treatment on my hair to keep it from getting too dry since I already had color and went blonder. I love Aveda, and while you sometimes pay a little bit more at an Aveda salon, I think it is 100% worth it. I left feeling like a movie star with my silky blowout and natural highlights. I also love that Green House is a smaller salon, more intimate setting and in a beautiful location. You can even stroll to view the beach while you are processing. I got to see the plans for the upcoming renovations and can't wait to go back to see the new zen look of the space. Thank you Melissa for making me feel like a customer you had had for years. She knows what she's talking about and even let us know the product that was being used on his hair from the other stylist wasn't for him which was causing his hair to fall out. I have an AirTouch technique in my hair, and since the salon does not offer AirTouch services, I wanted to confirm in advance that we could achieve a similar look using balayage or highlights. I was assured we could proceed. At the appointment, I waited a bit (which I understand happens in Miami). Once seated, the stylist examined my hair carefully and suggested doing a half head of highlights first to see how my fine, chemically damaged hair would react. I appreciated the caution and explained my previous negative experience with another stylist. When I left the salon, I was happy. The result wasn't identical to my inspiration photos, but I felt good about it. However, after washing my hair once, I noticed obvious orange foil spots and poorly blended areas near my ears. I immediately contacted the salon, and to their credit, they accommodated me the next day for a correction. Unfortunately, the solution offered was to darken my roots to cover the orange spots. This left me questioning why I paid $450 to lighten my roots, only to have them darkened again. Now, just a little over two weeks later, my hair already looks grown out because of the darker roots. For the price point and reputation of this salon, I expected better execution and a longer-lasting result. I truly wanted to love the experience, but overall, I'm very disappointed.

Coming from NYC I was a little anxious about my hair/makeup, as I didn't fly down to do a trial. Robyn (makeup) and Jena (hair) NAILED both my looks, and were so amazing to work with. Robyn even drove me to my first look bc it was a little windy for me to walk (so sweet, thanks girl!). For my rehearsal dinner Robyn gave me a perfect little retro cat eye and the most flawless skin of my life (seriously I have NEVER received more compliments on my makeup), and Jenna nailed the sexy tousled waves I wanted. For my wedding day we did a more natural smudgy eye, the same flawless skin, and a berry lip stain that I'm still obsessed with. Jena swept my hair into a loose, sexy and undone low bun with the most perfect pieces pulled out. We added a beautiful flower pin and I've seriously never felt more stunning in my life. My vibe for the wedding was ethereal, relaxed, and a little vintage and I felt absolutely flawless I will update my review with pictures when they come in, I was just so excited to get this posted!! It's so nice being able to trust someone with your hair color who not only listens to your direction but has an inherent intuition about how to make hair look awesome. I was trying to go from a warmer blonde to a white platinum and another stylist totally botched the process -- my mom actually sent me to Jon Carlos, and he saved my hair and transformed it to the beautiful platinum I had originally wanted. He's incredibly knowledgeable about all things hair and has so much experience -- he knew how to take my hair to where I wanted it to be without damaging it, and was great about communicating throughout the whole process -- including where we could go in future sessions and how I could maintain my hair in between.
