She personally redid my nails and was extremely careful and attentive. The second experience was much better, and I appreciated how seriously they took the situation and made it right. Because of that, I'm updating my rating to reflect both experiences and their effort to fix it. Here's new nails done. Much different experience this time much appreciated.

On top of dealing with the horrible attitude at one point in the conversation he told me I was young and didn't know what I was talking about when I tried to explain the reasons why I like living in Marathon and how I see potential for it to improve. Very rude and ageist. I'm in my 30s, I've lived here for over five years, have a house here, 2 businesses here and I've been coming to the Keys since I was a kid so I'm not clueless. He was so busy complaining I watched the clock and it took him a little over 30 minutes just to wash my hair and brush it out. I wanted my hair washed, blow dried and slightly curled with giant waves. I left there with crimps in my hair and my hair not even curled all the way. I do admit I was in his chair five minutes late but him not getting me done was definitely because he was unfocused. To make things even worse after having a weekend where I couldn't stop thinking about how rude this guy was to me I called the manager to see if I could have somebody else redo my hair. She only offered me 15% off which is a disgrace. Had she allowed for another stylist to do my hair again for 50% off at least I would have been a long-term customer (and I leave great tips) but now she has lost me and my friends as customers forever and I will always recommend against this place. Left John a $15 tip just because I pity him. I admit I'm too nice sometimes and I should have walked out while he was brushing my wet hair.

She was on the phone, rolled her eyes and asked them to hold, put her mask sort of up to her mouth and asked what we wanted. I said we were looking for nails for both of us and a cut for my bride. She got so MAD! Her: Harumph I couldn't get you in until 1. Me: ok, do you know of anywhere around here to get them done earlier? Her: NO. Me: You really don't know any other place in this tiny town to get nails or hair done. Her: NO. Me: I find that hard to believe. Her: ((wait for it)) you can try the nail place THREE DOORS DOWN in the SAME STRIP! Literally about 50 ft. I realize nobody wants to lose business, but that was just so beyond ridiculously rude for absolutely no reason. She could have been even the slightest bit helpful and suggest the nail place straight away, but felt the need to make visitors feel crappy on their special day. It really is hard to figure out who is open and when here in the island towns. We did our homework and their page said no appointment needed. Oh well. Her loss....and it's a big one. Good job lady.

I'm very particular about nail care, and Bettye consistently exceeds expectations. Bettye is incredibly talented, professional, and detail-oriented. My nails last about a month, never chip, and my pedicures last beautifully too. The quality of her work is exceptional and far exceeds places I've gone in the Keys. The salon is always clean, welcoming, and relaxing. The staff is friendly and attentive, and I always appreciate the little touches like offering drinks and snacks while you're there. It feels less like an appointment and more like visiting people who genuinely care about their clients. One thing I especially appreciate about Bettye is how accommodating she is. She stays booked for a reason, but if an emergency comes up she always tries to fit me in, or connect me with someone she trusts. That says a lot about her professionalism and how much she values her customers. I also appreciate the specials and discounts they offer, which is a nice bonus, but I keep coming back because of the quality, consistency, and service. I trust Bettye completely and will continue going to Dreams and Nails as long as I live in the Keys. My best friend knew I wanted my lashes back after being out of them for almost a year now after we bought a house in Northern Florida and not being able to find anyone in the area who could do any degree of mega volume that were to my liking (or honestly even just worth what I was paying for them).
