My roots had grown in and my ends were pretty badly splitting so I booked an appointment. First off, Alena was extremely friendly and personable! She made me very relaxed, even though I had a massive migraine. She took her time and didn't rush - I asked her to chop off my split ends, but to keep as much hair as possible. She recommended something shorter than I would have liked - but I trusted her opinion, and it was actually perfect, with not nearly as much trimmed off as I thought! She did a fantastic job with my highlights too, making sure not to further damage my hair but still giving me the sunny bump I was looking for. Something's weird here. I didn't realize it was the same shop- it's a duo nail salon slash hair salon. I felt like a not very smart person. But it was a relief to know that someone wasn't just out there copying someone else's work. Secondly- I clicked with Tasha. She has a chill vibe and the shop has character. I loved looking around at all the art on the walls while we were chatting. I think 50% of being a good stylist is the ability to be able to tell interesting stories and be an unofficial therapist. She kept calling him a "pretty girl" and gave him a girl's haircut, despite him stating exactly what he wanted. She actually cut his hair about 4" shorter than he asked, and cut off all the parts that were bleached, which he definitely did NOT ask for. Now we need to (hopefully) find a way to redo the bleach in his hair. She didn't even do a good job, it's very uneven in the back and we don't know how to even it out without making it even shorter. This is especially disappointing because the haircut was for an event this Friday, a formal event where there will be photos. He needed a specific length of hair and for it to be two colors (the way it was when he went in) and now it looks nothing like what he asked for. Yes, hair grows back, but not in three days, so Beverly has effectively ruined this event for my son. I. AM. FURIOUS.
