I am genuinely sad to be writing this review because we really liked Ivette and had every intention…read moreof continuing to come back to Salon Cora. Unfortunately, the way the owner, Denise, treated my mother and me at the end of our appointment completely changed that. My mother and I arrived at noon and spent hours at the salon. My daughter and I had approximately $300 in services, and my mother's service was approximately $200. This was my mother's THIRD visit with Ivette and my second. We have also brought additional customers to the salon, including my sister and my daughter. We were not first-time clients walking in off the street. At checkout, Denise suddenly demanded that my mother provide an email address so she could be charged a deposit for a future appointment, claiming that we had switched appointments at the last minute. That was extremely frustrating because we had already discussed the appointment situation by phone beforehand, and TWO people had told us the deposit requirement would be waived. My mother also does not have an email address. Instead of simply allowing us to pay and leave, Denise began arguing with me about it in front of everyone. I repeatedly told her that we were tired, extremely hungry, and simply wanted to PAY OUR BILL AND LEAVE. We had been there since noon, and I had been driving since around 9 a.m. getting my mother and making it to the appointment. Even while I was standing there attempting to pay more than $300 for our services, Denise continued arguing with me about the deposit. At that point, I told her I was no longer going to engage in the argument and just wanted to finish paying. Her response? She told me that maybe Salon Cora "wasn't for us." Imagine being a returning client, spending hundreds of dollars, bringing your mother, daughter, and sister to a business, and while you are literally paying your bill, the OWNER essentially tells you that perhaps you should go somewhere else because you questioned a deposit requirement that had already been discussed with her staff. My mother and I walked out feeling embarrassed, uncomfortable, and honestly just awful after what should have been a relaxing day together. And that is what makes this especially disappointing: Ivette has been wonderful. My mother really likes her, and I was genuinely happy with my hair. Losing a stylist you trust because of the way the business owner handles a customer interaction is incredibly frustrating. There were so many professional ways Denise could have handled this. Instead, she chose to argue with a paying customer publicly and then suggest that the salon was not for us. Apparently, she was right. Salon Cora is not for us--not because of the stylists, but because I will not continue spending hundreds of dollars at a business where the owner thinks this is an acceptable way to treat returning customers. Ivette deserves five stars. Our experience with Denise at checkout does not.

Enough was enough so I called Salon37 today and asked for a haircut appointment. I was placed with stylist Linda and she was very open to what I wanted to do with my hair. Called, let them assign me to a stylist, and went for my appointment. (About a 4 day lead time for an evening appointment - not bad at all!) Ended up with Abby - she was willing to help consult with me on my hair, and helped me pick between a few options (something I find a lot of hairdressers can't do for some reason) - so I appreciated that. Abby asked at each step of the way what my preferences are - and the end result - I'm happy with my cut. Booked to go back in a month. I may end up bumping this review up to a 5 - too early to tell just yet - but so far, so good. Oh yeah - prices are reasonable, and they have many other salong services - body wraps, manicures, massages, etc. It's a little hard to figure out where it is initially - it's in behind the BP Gas Station across from Walmart. (Who knew there was a named street back there?!?!) It looks like you can get into from the BP, or you can turn onto County Line, then turn left almost right away onto Commerce.
