Jocelyn used the dryer to speed up color processing even though I had been sitting for quite a while. In the end, I had extremely bright highlights around my face, no highlights in my part where I was trying to blend gray (the whole purpose of color) and then brassy hair everywhere else. I called to schedule a correction and couldn't get in for 2 weeks. Then a few days before the appointment, I get a voicemail saying Jocelyn is no longer there but the owner, Helen, can do my correction in Acton. When I arrived for my correction, I told the owner about the issues with my hair - she acknowledged it and offered to fix it with a combination of foils and toner. She almost didn't do the toner, but I insisted as that was the correction I truly needed. She finally does it, dries my hair then starts trimming it as she said it was uneven and asked who cut it last; it was Jocelyn. As we are talking, she informed me Jocelyn gave a 4 weeks notice too so Jocelyn knew she was dumping me after a crappy color. When I go to leave, she was grumbling about what to charge me and charged me $120. I was upset and she went onto to say that this was more than just toner (ironically), and she was giving me a deal. No apology for anything, just asks for more money. She totally took me for a ride - I wouldn't have let her do anything had I known she was just trying to get money out of me. I just paid $155 the week before plus tip. So now I have spent $300+ in 2 weeks and my hair looks ok. I would look elsewhere - I've never been charged for corrections nor upsold in this way.

Things have come a long way since then, but - trust me - no current option comes anywhere CLOSE to the awesomeness that is Aglow. The most important factor for me is a natural look. Like I said, I do this mid-winter and I'm fair-skinned. Kara and her fellow geniuses at Aglow have helped me to figure out the exact right way to get that healthy, subtle tint without anyone stopping in their tracks to say "Whoa, did you just come back from vacation?!" The formulation is perfect - no hint of orange, just looks like an actual tan (a light one, in my case). They can customize to whatever you want, and take the time to figure it out. The Rapid Tan is great - rinse off in 2-3 hours instead of worrying about messing it up or leaving fake tan everywhere you go. I'm also pretty shy, so stripping down in front of a stranger with a (spray) gun can be very intimidating. The staff at Aglow is warm and friendly, which puts you at ease, but also super efficient. They know what they are doing and get you in and out within 15 minutes, tops. As a busy working mom, that is super important and appreciated. The online scheduling also makes everything super easy. The owner, Kara, is one of the nicest human beings I've had the pleasure of meeting. I cannot recommend this place enough. Go - treat yourself! You won't be sorry.
