Haikaranpesa hearkens back to a very traditional and very Finnish eating experience. From a coat check man at the entrance to the decor and food selection. I don't think you will get much more of a real Finland experience than here.
For a lunch-only restaurant, it is extremely expensive. The buffet is mostly cold fair, with a large selection of fish and various meats including moose, deer, duck, chicken, and beef. There are a few warm items such as traditional Finnish cream potatoes. The desert selections are quite varied - we had a choice of 11 different cakes.
Here's the thing: the food is decent but not 50e worth. But the view is spectacular and I really feel this is one of the best ways to really get a feel of Finland and the food. I can't help but feel that this is a 'client lunch' or 'special occasional' only type of restaurant, though. read more
