The chicken burger

Absolutely insane food. Enjoyed every part of it. The chicken burger was perfectly spicy and the fries, oh my the fries. Perfection. 100% Suggest. Also very cool staff. Very nice atmosphere and a cool vibe.

Salmon soup

Food is okay. Salmon soup (Lohikeitto) in the photo. Simple, but good. Less creamy than I expected. Beer was fine too. They were not to happy that I sat on a tall table on the bar side, rather than the restaurant side. But service was fine too.

Great beers with several different styles. I'm the summer the Biergarten in the back is fantastic, but they closed early when we were there.

Starting off my brief weekend in Helsinki with a bang, my friends and I landed here for dinner on our first night. Warmly welcomed at the bottom of the stairs, we were fortunate to be early enough that there were a couple of tables available before the dinner rush starts to arrive. Finns seem to start dinner a little later, and we were already a little jet lagged so we're having dinner at 6:30 pm which is actually closer to 12:30pm in our heads. A bottle of wine, a few very good beers and a main course here. I had their witbier and it was excellent. Nice, strong flavor. Very cold. Beautiful glass. A proper pour. Delicious beer. For main course, the elk sausages were excellent. Not very thick - maybe half an inch - and covered with lingonberries. The sausages were rich and very flavorful. Easy to eat with knife and fork. Absolutely excellent. The menus are printed in Finnish and English. Prices are clear. Each item offers a wine and beer recommendation. On of my favorite meals in Helsinki! Excellent beer selection but pricey. I had an Imperial Stout and my wife had Weizen. Pleasant staff. Nice Bier Garten in the back

I tried 3 small sizes: The tea beer : the tea flavor was fairly subtle. I thought it was ok, might be more polarizing for others New England ipa: I'm not a huge Ipa fan but new England style usually means hazy. This tasted more like a traditional Ipa and had a nice fruit undertone. Too hoppy for me but I'd encourage Ipa fans to try it Gose with ligonberry: based on the description this beer could not be more up my alley. From drinking it, it's definitely my favorite of the 3 I tried. Definitely tart and the berry itself is tart so it doesn't achieve the same balance of Gose fruit mixes but if you like tart you'll like this! Cute little merch shop and a beer garden as well.

Chicken and Fries (So good!)

Had a phenomenal lunch here. Ordered the crispy chicken and fries. Both were excellent and the orange sauce made it even better.

Very good service. Both food and beer tasted so good. I liked thier options and prices.

Upstairs on tap selection

Initially just dropped in for a quick brew with a few friends. I took a Malmgård Emmer IPA from the tap -- I enjoyed it. But the upstairs bar was pretty packed, so we decided to grab some food downstairs and there was plenty of space in the restaurant area. I ordered a pork burger and fries from the bar menu, while a friend took a meat dish (elk?) from the dinner menu. The food was decent. Understandably ("Bryggeri" = "Brewery" in Swedish I'm told), the place has a good beer selection. On tap house brews include IPA, Pils, Weizen, Porter, and Winter Ale. I want to go back and try more, because I only had a half liter of their house IPA which wasn't my taste -- too fruity. The prices are reasonable, and you get all sorts of sizes from the tap to get more tastings in. I enjoyed the visit and I'll be back :)

Mmmm.. A selection of house beer at Bryggeri..

The beer is pricier than this Londoner is used to, but Bryggeri is still worth visiting for its chilled atmosphere (at least on the Friday in February that I was there), friendly service and, slightly surprising for a microbrewery, the beer. Yep, I'm going to say it: however warm it feels to support the efforts of plucky underdogs, particularly when they're local, all too often beer from microbreweries isn't that interesting. Namely it often looks the part but lacks the taste. The beer at Bryggeri on the other hand was pretty darn good. I bought a sample of five house beers (EPA, citrus IPA, winter ale, wheat, stout) and would happily have sunk several pints of the excellent wheat beer, IPA or winter ale. It is pricey compared to London: my one litre sample (5 x 0.2 litres) cost 16 euros, maybe 50% more than London prices. But I'm guessing that's a Helsinki-wide thing. Besides, it was more than made up for by the friendly, laid back service and the relaxed atmosphere generally. The interior is worth a mention too: wooden benches, stools and tables, a little colour, and downstairs, the copper tanks of the brewery itself. And it's on one of the oldest streets in Helsinki! I'm very glad to have dropped by here.

Great beer!

Great beers! I enjoyed the conversation with the bartender about craftbeers around the world. He was knowledgeable about the beers. I had a rye beer. I had two of them beers and they gave me a good buzz for this cool town. I recommend this place to all the craftbeers snobs like me visiting from around the world tasting different craftbeers. I like the beer he served me and love to visit this place next time I come to Helsinki.

Did a 3-Day stopover in Helsinki on my way to China and I like to try local breweries whenever I'm in a new city. came across Byrggeri and the tap list meant I had to stop and try them. I had the Elk Sausage with Roasted Root Vegetables and washed it down with a couple house pints. Old Berry Ale, APA, and the Sofia to end the evening. All three beers were good, my favorite being the Sofia. But that is a beer to end the evening with, not to start. For everyday drinking, I'd go with the Old Berry. The food was equally good. I was surprised that the root vegetables were roasted skin on, but after a few bites I was over my surprise and they were delicious. The staff is friendly, especially Emanuel who was so interesting to talk to. Will I be back? Yes! Every time I'm in Finland.

Outstanding food. I had the vegetarian special, which was squash in a creamy sauce. The sauce was a bit heavy, but otherwise, everything about the dinner was great. Nice location, big dining area, excellent service. A little pricey though.

Order the salmon soup, and pair it with one of the craft taps. You will not be disappointed.

The bar owner is a total fan of the Texas Tornadoes and anything Texan. He's a Finn, but has traveled to the Lone Star State several times to take in the beauty, and is bringing a little Texas to Finland! I felt like this bar would be right at home in the Texas Hill Country. Around the bar, you'll find posters depicting the likes of Doug Sahm, Dale Watson, and Willie Nelson. There are Lone Star flags up over the register! God Bless Texas! The owner is a bigger Texas Tornadoes fan than I am, and I love their stuff- I thought I knew all their songs, but they've worked some Texas Tornado references into the bar that even I had to stop and think on. On Monday nights, they hold a jam session (no cover!), where local musicians get together and jam on a country/rockabilly rhythm, and crank out the jams. The best was hearing Johnny Cash sung with a Finnish accent! They have an extensive beer and liquor list, and the staff is friendly. The place feels safe, and clean. There are plenty of places to sit, along with some slot machines. They offer the national beer of Finland on draft, Karhu, but most of their best beers are micro-brews from a bit further north in Finland- amazing IPAs. The prices are quite reasonable, and it's warm inside. I had an absolute blast hanging out here, and reminiscing of Texas with the owner- he brought out his guitar and jammed out some acoustic Texas Tornado music. I'll certainly be back next time I'm in Helsinki!

This is the largest selection of beer I've seen at a bar in Finland -- I reckon that's what they're aiming to be known for. While the on tap selection was rather limited (8 taps or less maybe?), their bottled craft brew menu spanned a whopping 9 pages (yes, 9!). I tasted Mission Brewery IPA, Sierra Nevada Flipside Red IPA, and Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale. I haven't seen these anywhere else in Finland. I could tell the staff were still learning the menu -- a few blank stares when ordering. The place just opened, and given the broad, exotic menu I sympathize. Their extensive selection comes with a price -- be prepared to drop some dough if you want to sample the tasty brews. Definitely worth checking out -- stop by and sip something new!

So if there is one in the party who can't drink alcohol for one reason or another, they can't join the fun. Because otherwise this place is fun! A very impressive selection of beers on bottle, and some interesting choices also on tap. I very much like the idea of a tasting menu, where you get 5 different beers for 12,50€. This is a concept I very much like. The place is a bit dark, not very spacious, and the bathroom capacity is limited. That, and the lack of non-alcoholic beverages, result in only 3 stars. It's close to 4, but not yet at least.

The fun is everywhere, from a large mock-up of VHS cases to the left of the bar, to the industrial-looking steps to nowhere that punters can sit on, to the cheeky message below a high window that states "This emergency exit may require Parkour." Unlike too many BrewDog bars in the UK, it's quite well lit too, making the whole experience less gloomy and instead uplifting. That's all backed up by really friendly staff, who were happy to point out local Finnish beer including an extraordinary one that tasted of ripe banana. There's also free wifi, the password seemingly the same as that found in other BrewDog bars.. The beer is expensive, no doubt, but that seems to be a Helsinki/Finland-wide thing rather than particular to BrewDog. It was kind of sad and pathetic but it also gave him back his will to live, which I had taken from him some time ago. Thanks, BrewDog! His newfound vigor for life can be attributed to your presence just a three minute walk from our home. Score! This is the kind of bar I was missing after (I always mention it...) moving here from San Francisco, the land of beer and wine bars and craft/artisan/mixologized (insert anything really here). BrewDog is so awesome I wish they'd let me bring my baby here. Because if I they did, I'd be waiting outside their window right now, queuing up for one of their delicious craft ciders. On the topic of craft beer, they do it right and they have very knowledgeable bartenders to steer you in the right direction should you not be so knowledgeable. I am, my husband is, but we heard the experts dropping some education for the lesser-familiar several times last night. In the nice, helpful way - not the hipster-glare-y way that one may be accustomed to at some other choice spots. Great interior - very San Francisco, London, New York. Love the attention to detail but in a very Devil-may-care fashion, loads of seating, I think there's a pool table? (Ok. I was really intoxicated last time and sitting in a dark corner). The mood is congenial, people are in high spirits, the bar is hopping, and it is the least-Finnish bar I have been to in Finland. Which is to say: It's my new favorite. All Hail the Dog!
