Horrocks Market, Lansing, Michigan…read more WHOA! This place is HUGE! We walked into Horrocks Market expecting a market, and what we found was practically a small city devoted to food, flowers, gardening, and just about anything else you can imagine. The variety is incredible. Fresh produce, prepared foods, a bakery, flowers (including some gorgeous exotic varieties), gardening supplies, paper goods, wind chimes, specialty items, and so much more. You can wander around for ages and still discover something you missed. I even counted the soups, and they had around 36 different varieties available to take home or enjoy there. THIRTY-SIX! At that point, choosing a soup becomes a serious life decision. There is also plenty to tempt your taste buds, with freshly prepared food and all kinds of goodies. The popcorn-making area caught our attention, and the popcorn looked wonderful. The only catch? You had to buy a gigantic bag for about $8. We were a group of four, not a family preparing for winter hibernation, so we passed. The cinnamon rolls looked equally tempting, very much in the Cinnabon style, but at around $9 for one, we decided that our sweet tooth could survive without one. Coming from the Chicago area, I found many of the prices surprisingly high. There is certainly a lot to choose from, but your wallet may need a little pep talk before you go shopping! One of the nicest surprises was the atmosphere on Friday. There was a live band playing, and lots of people had gathered to listen. The music was free, and you could grab a beer, a glass of wine, or another drink and simply sit back and enjoy the scene. It was a fun, lively atmosphere, although the music was a little loud for casual conversation. What impressed me most was the sheer variety. This isn't just a place to buy groceries. It's somewhere to explore, browse, grab a bite, admire the flowers, discover unusual products, and enjoy a little entertainment along the way. My advice? Definitely visit, but go for the experience rather than planning to fill your shopping cart. There is so much to see and enjoy, even if you decide to keep your wallet firmly in your pocket. Horrocks Market is an experience all on its own. Come curious, leave yourself plenty of time to explore, and don't say I didn't warn you about the size of the place!

There's always something (snacks) that I have to add to my basket. If you need fun and interesting gift ideas - there are an array of goodies you'll find from lotions to toys to food. There's even jewelry and clothes. My favorite sections are the snacks and drinks. There are an array of beer and wine from all over the world as well as coffee and tea for those who don't consume alcohol. I was looking all over town for lady fingers to make tiramisu a few months ago. I went to several grocery stores and they don't stock these anymore. The only place I found some were at World Market. There's even a kit with all the ingredients to make this dessert. They also have some clearance snacks, at the very back of the store. Be sure to check the expiration dates! My siblings also have gotten some hot sauce here. It's a fun store to explore.

The salesman who came to our house was great, informative and helpful and the installers of both the vinyl plank and the carpet were friendly, prompt and seemed to take pride in their work. The process should have been one day, but turned into multiple weeks. The initial installers did not have enough product to finish the job. They also were not sent with the correct quarter round to put along my oak trim...white was not going to work Empire. They contacted the installation manager who then said that she would call me later that day...she did not. A week later they sent a new installer since the other installers did not do things correctly. He did what he could do but was unable to finish the job because they did not send him with enough quarter round. he then had to come back a few days later. During this time it was discussed to have someone come out and look at my less than 3 year-old carpet because of how horrible it was holding up. The installation manager and one of their senior installers came out and agreed that the carpet was hot garbage. They took several pictures and told me they would get back to me because they needed to file a warranty claim with the mill. A week later they had a salesperson come out to have me pick out new carpet and I sent them info on when I had the carpet cleaned. A week later I reached out to the general manager to see if we had a timeframe for replacement. We set up for 8/18/26 (this was on 8/8/26). Sent a message on 7:57AM on 8/18/26 to confirm to no response. received a phone call from the Install Manager 30 minutes later asking which day this week was good. I was a bit livid at this point. They "didn't know what happened" and didn't even have the carpet at their warehouse!! What a complete cluster F. Now, I have to give up my Saturday because, allegedly, they are coming to replace the carpet then. I'll believe it when I see it. Bottom line, stay away from Empire Today.

I was leery that I had to call for pricing and thought it would be much more expensive than what I had seen in my search. I got a great deal. Danielle was awesome. I completed the transaction late in the day (after 5pm) on Friday 11/7, they shipped 11/10 and I received the rug on 11/12 via UPS. It was well packaged. I love this rug. I thought the main color would be more blue but it was more gray which I was told and did the purchase knowing this. The gray did not disappoint/bother me because it is stunning with the contrasting colors. It is in a room with baby yellow walls, soft blue contrast, white trim and silver accessories. I got 5X8 perfect sizing, superb quality, heaviness and thick pile. This room is being designed for my 15 year old daughter and she will love it. This rug is a beautiful statement piece. I wish I was closer to this store. I am sure there are a lot of goodies to find. I'll keep an eye out for sales because I'm sure I'll be purchasing for this business again. I place the pricing as moderate for this store based on the one purchase but I haven't checked other items for comparison shopping.

I always thought it was super high end and expensive for some reason. We decided to just browse one Saturday morning and we ended up having a great experience! There is metered street parking in the front of the store, but there's also a large free parking lot behind the building. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and asked if we had been in before. When we said no, the friendly employee gave us the lay of the land and told us there are three floors to the store and that it's much bigger than it seems from the outside. Totally true! I always thought this store was small, but it's really huge. We started browsing through all the setups and were immediately impressed by the styling of each area and all the different items. They have all kinds of furniture, decorations, and rugs. Prices were clearly marked which I appreciated since it shows they're not trying to hide anything. I was pleasantly surprised that I found quite a few things that would fit into our budget, along with higher-end, more expensive pieces. They also have a clearance section which we looked through. The pieces I saw mostly swayed more modern and a little less traditional, which is more my style anyway. Upstairs we found a coffee table that was a major upgrade from our current table, but still in our budget and actually quite affordable. It has a metal base and a glass/ceramic top that looks and feels like marble. Super sleek and sophisticated! Christine was upstairs and asked if we needed any help. We asked her about the process for purchasing as we wouldn't be able to fit the table into our car. She told us that we could pay for it and come back with a larger vehicle, or we could pay $60 for local delivery. SOLD! I am all about that convenience and for $60 they can pack and carry the pretty heavy table. We paid for our purchase and Christine was super awesome with the whole process. I am so glad we finally stopped in to Stonesthrow and I can't wait to go back! She did say that they also do special orders if you know something you want and they are able to get it in store. Highly recommend looking here instead of Wayfair etc. for a local option. They also provide interior design services!
