The typical old wood vibe of many UP establishments that have survived the test of time. A spot for pool in the back, guys pee in a trough instead of urinals LOL, there's chalkboard doors with drink specials, random musical performances, a patio out back for hangin and smoking, it's just a great place to enjoy the Yooper life and meet a local or five. It's an easy place to become a regular just based off of the bartenders alone (Tori is a gem, she won't fail to make you laugh). They have great merch like shirts, sweatshirts, stickers, pins, shot glasses, etc. (I designed a few of their stickers while I was in college a decade ago, so glad to see they still sell them grab a buffalo drinking a PBR that I drew while drinking a $1 PBR at the Nickel one night in 2015). Popcorn is available, bubble hockey is a must, try a Nickelade or a green tea shot. I know they had a build your own Bloody bar at one point but I'm not sure if it's a regular thing anymore, if you see it happening don't miss it. Good price for a delicious bloody with all sorts of toppings and fresh cooked bacon! Great prices all around, good people, always a fun time at the Nickel

All we heard from our local family was that we needed to go. So the day we were leaving we made sure to hit up the place as we left town. Bartender was an interesting character. Seemed unfriendly at first, but then warmed up and we were bantering in no time. Although I still got a weird vibe from him. I will say this, he made a bang on spicy bloody Mary and it is by far one of the best I have had in years! We definitely will go back when we come back to visit our family.

Food is decent but the service is just terrible. Ordered 2 meals at 1:30. Received our lunches at 2:50. I had to walk to the end of the bar and grab them myself. Mind you not all the bar stools at the bar were taken up so it was not like this place was packed. Getting a simple soda takes forever also. If you're in a hurry or on a timeline do not plan on stopping here. Plumbing is terrible too. Toilet will not flush and air bubbles kept coming up. Only nice thing about this place is they have gas for a reasonable price. Plan on this place being a gas stop only. Whitetail inn.......DO BETTER!
