DO NOT MOVE HERE. I've been a resident for two years and when I first came to see the apartment I…read morewas bamboozled (because I cannot think of any other word) by the woman who showed us around. The apartments were built in the 70s so the exterior isn't modern looking but the apartments are super spacious, some units even came with a fireplace and you can literally get a place that is over 1500 sq ft for less than 1800/month (in 2020). Looks wise the place is nice and that I can't deny that but everything else about this apartment and the company that owns them sucks. The first day we moved into our apt the floors were absolute filthy, the toilet chain in one of the bathrooms was broken and it wouldn't flush, the second bathrooms toilet seat was that of the precious tenant, four of our window screens were missing, the tile floors in the kitchen were severely cracked, our microwave stopped working after a few days, the doorbell did not and STILL does not work, the dishwasher smelled of months old mold ", the utility closet leaked and still leaks constantly and both of the sinks had severe clogs. The ONLY thing they did was paint the walls and cover all the holes and paint the patio floor with paint that isn't meant for outdoors because it chips to this day. After a month we got most of the issues fixed and I received an apology stating "this isn't normally how we do things, blah blah". It was BS. The maintenance here sucks because they take their time to come fix things, for our unit each year we've had to call them during the summer because our AC doesn't work, the gym here has outdated machines and there is a constant smell of mold in the unit. My fridge worked for about 4 months and it broke down 4 times before they decided to replace it, lost a lot of money. We are planning to move out soon. Avoid this place at all costs... yes, the units LOOK very nice but overall this place is terrible and I wish I had looked into it more before moving in.

My apartment is large and beautiful and the kitchen floor needed some replacing and it was done beautifully. My neighbors are lovely, quiet and professionals to my knowledge. The maintenance staff is very responsive to any issue, even at all hours. The apt is a bit pricey but all my friends say..this is not an apartment..it is a home! Only negative is that the large garbage bins sometimes overflow..probably more because there are lazy tenant(like anywhere) that do not throw out their trash into the bins. All apts around make you pay the rec fee...yes I do not agree with having to pay it(as I don't use it) but that appears to be what the market will bear. Also you pay a pet fee up front...do you really need to add another one on monthly? These are more management issue with Kaplan not the staff at Hidden Lake. All I can say is I WOULD recommend these apts to anyone. I see a maintenance man every morning picking up the trash all around, and he is working hard, so it is more sloppy people than a maintenance issue!

I lived at Hidden Lake Apartments for seven years. During that entire time, I was late with my rent…read moreonly once, when I paid on the 6th. I never had any significant issues and considered myself a responsible, long-term tenant. I also felt that the rent increases over the years were reasonable by today's standards. I decided not to renew my lease and am preparing to move out on September 26, 2026. Shortly before my move, I experienced an unexpected $3,000 car repair after my radiator failed. Because I was waiting for an insurance check, I contacted management on September 5 and asked whether they would work with me by allowing my security deposit to be applied toward my final month's rent. My request was refused. At the same time, I was provided with a list of potential charges that could be assessed if management determines that cleaning, painting, flooring, carpeting, appliances, cabinets, bathrooms, or other areas require attention after I leave. Because of this, I intend to carefully photograph and video the condition of the apartment during my move-out on September 26. What disappointed me most was not simply that management said no to my request. It was the way the situation was handled after seven years of being a responsible tenant. Instead of taking my rental history and temporary financial situation into consideration, I received an email concerning possible legal action and an additional $250 charge associated with court proceedings. This was particularly upsetting because I was already scheduled to move out approximately two weeks later. If this matter is taken to court, I will present my payment history, security-deposit records, correspondence, photographs, videos, and other documentation and allow the court to determine what amounts, if any, are properly owed by either party. I was never asking to avoid my financial responsibility. I was asking for reasonable consideration during a temporary hardship while waiting for insurance funds that I knew were coming. In fact, the insurance funds arrived the following morning at approximately 7:00 a.m. I have retained copies of my documentation and communications regarding this matter. Over the years, I also received very small interest checks relating to my security deposit, generally for only a few cents, which I did not bother depositing. There are also maintenance issues that concern me. During COVID, while I was working from home, we experienced a storm and a ceiling window/skylight was damaged. Years later, it remains broken and is being held in place with tape. I believe a maintenance issue of that nature should have been properly repaired rather than remaining in that condition for years. I believe the way management treats tenants when everything is going well is important, but the way a long-term tenant is treated when experiencing one difficult month says even more. On September 16, I asked to speak with Property Manager Robin but did not receive a return telephone call. I also contacted Kaplan Companies on September 16 and spoke with Jason. I was told that matters such as this are left to the property managers. After seven years, I expected my history as a tenant to count for something. Unfortunately, the way my tenancy is ending has significantly changed how I feel about my overall experience at Hidden Lake Apartments. I am sharing my experience so that anyone considering renting here can make their own informed decision. I will continue documenting the condition of the apartment, preserve my records, and address any court proceedings appropriately if management chooses to pursue them.

The management team has changed and Michelle in management fit right in with the former team. Her beautiful personality, her smile and her professionalism makes you feel like you're her family. With everything I need to report, repair, replace or even just a sit down for a minute and let my hair down with her is a blessing that she is around. She is genuinely bubbly and welcoming to all. I can't leave out my maintenance team led by Dave. He makes sure the job is done and done well. No short cuts. He is very approachable, especially with the kids. I attempted to put my 11 year olds grandsons bike together. After it broke down a bit, Dave had no problem helping and teaching him each step it took to fix the problem. Who does that? Dave does. The Cranbury community is well groomed, the amenities are the best and did I say I lived here for 5 years and still in love? From our spacious and beautiful apartment to the facilities to the management, everything about Plaza Square is wonderful. As a result of the pandemic, many amenities (gym, pool, lounge) were restricted but accessible nonetheless. It actually meant a lot that management cared so much for the health and safety of its residents and did their best to accommodate everyone's need for leisure and exercise safely. I love that Plaza Square has many unique layouts for its apartments, and is arranged in a way that allows a lot of light into the rooms. Our early days weren't very smooth (high utilities bills, internet issues) but management was super responsive and did their best to resolve them. Management makes a HUGE difference in the quality of where one lives, and I honestly believe Plaza Square has the best of the best in NB. They have been so responsive and engaged with the community since we moved here. A few friends who live in neighboring complexes have outwardly expressed feeling envious when they hear me rave about this place. Besides that, Plaza Square has outdoor and garage parking options, a cute dog run (with lots of pandemic doggies!), a gym, a beautiful lounge and pool, a great mailing system and clean and renovated spaces. There's not much else one could ask for. The only tip I would provide is to pick apartments away from the highway. They cost a little more, but are completely worth it for the lack of noise at night. We will unfortunately be moving out of state in a few months due to work, but if we could stay or had friends looking for a place in New Brunswick, we would recommend and sign with Plaza Square in a heartbeat.

First of all, don't be fooled by all the good reviews in 2021. There were actually several…read more"contests" that were held from June onwards for reviews for prizes to boost their past rating. Honestly, this place is OK if you want to worry about your car being damaged and being submerge under water during rainy/hurricane season. Or having the fire alarm constantly go off. Or having to step in dog poop every few days. Or having the sprinklers broken, leaving your doorway soaking wet and stinking of mold and being a health hazard. Your car parking spots would be taken up by random cars from the public (esp if you're parking on the top deck). Hallways are not camera monitored, so you'll probably end up finding dog poop at 8am in the morning while you walk to the nearest elevator and there's nothing management can do about it. Let's see what else? Your neighbors can be inconsiderate and the walls are paper thin. Garage doors actually never works, (but you wont know this until you're already deep 2 months into your rent and you constantly see everyone complaining and management does nothing) & there have been a lot of thefts. Garage panels are caving and falling in. The side doors (by the parking deck) do not lock, so anyone can come in. You pay trash fees, but you got to constantly bring your boxes down to the trash area? Not a big deal, but I am saying you're going to pay money for something that does not make sense, Plaza square used to be great prior to Covid, but boy are we glad to move further away to the city and pay more to experience nothing of the above! The only great thing about plaza is their OG maintenance crew. Over the past 2.5 years, we've made at least 30 friends (those kind where you actually have their numbers) in the community, there's only 7 who is currently living there now due to the increasing number of issues happening within the apartment complex. Also heard (and was verified by a few current tenants) that new management lacks communication with their tenants. There was no communication/updates about the recent water pipe burst that damaged over 30 apartments and the garage. That said, we don't care if they increase the rent, but why are we paying for the same things year after year and the building 's integrity is turning for the worse?
