Craig B.

I had Hackney install a complete hvac system and insulation in my home in 2018, everything went great, Drew was there through the entire process. No complaints. Last month my heater would not turn on so I called the company that I've used for my PM service and they informed me that their was an issue with the installation of the unit that was causing the problem and it would cost$$. At this point I called the warranty company and it was suggested that I try Hackney first, but if not any reputable company would be fine. So that's what I did. And the screenshots are the response from Dallas Cox. So what Dallas is saying is even though I spent almost 20k for a system I'm no longer welcome because I chose to use a local a company that's 10 minutes from my home instead of Hackney for PM. What really upsets me is Hackney doesn't have the decency to call to see what my issue really was. I never told Hackney about the install problem because after several messages left with no response I finally decided to email and this was their response.

Hackney put in a new heating and air conditioning system in my house. They did an amazing job at a fair value. Drew and the team are very skilled and reliable and do very high quality work.

The first company I called I asked if he did repairs or only replacement systems. He said, "I do repairs. That's why it's in the name!" "Great!" I thought. When he checked our system he told me the compressor was bad, which was expected. I asked if he could replace it with a new or reconditioned compressor, but he said no, because the system was about 10 years old and used an older refrigerant. He said the only option wasto replace the entire system. He also said we had an asbestos-wrapped pipe that would need to be removed by another company before he could do the work. He offered to get me in contact with that company, but never did, even after I followed up. So, in the meantime I decided to call Mike's Air. It was late on a Friday. We had Slava out by Monday. He checked the system, confirmed the compressor was bad, and gave me a very different answer: yes, the compressor could be replaced. He was straightforward about the pros and cons of buying an entirely new system vs just replacing the compressor. No selling. Just facts. The price for replacement was very reasonable compared to a full system, so I figured it only has to last about 4 years for it to pay off vs buying a new system now. I gave the deposit and about a week later the compressor arrived. Slava came out the very next day -- on a Saturday -- and installed it. Everything is working again and we couldn't be happier. Not just cuz we saved money (short-term), but I felt confident that Slava was doing a professional job. What impressed me most was that Slava/Mike's Air actually gave us a repair option instead of automatically pushing a full replacement. Slava was knowledgeable, straightforward and professional throughout the entire process, as was Rhea back at Mike's. Highly recommended.

Thus, when our 20+ year AC unit went south on us recently, Manny's was the first place I called. After giving a quite reasonable and competitive estimate, I set things up with Cecelia....who arranged to have Andrew and his crew come out several days later. Along with arriving right on time, they worked fast and diligently moving out the the very large and heavy unit that I've used for many years, and then setting up the new one. In this regard, I should also mention, on Manny's advice, we switched from gas to electric...which seems to work far better than our previous unit which relied on gas. In addition, given the fact that our ducts were showing some of the wear and tear of the past 20-years (which included a few puncture holes in them), I arranged to with Manny to have a crew return to replace them. Again, the pricing was competitive and the job was done in less than a day. It's also worth mentioning that along with a very polite and courteous crew, everything in our backyard was left exceptionally clean. In any event, for anyone looking to replace their AC unit or simply in need of some general repair on their AC system, Manny's should be the first place to call. Their expertise, service, and prices can't be beat!

Michael handled all the business and clearly explained to me in my home what equipment options were available (all Lennox via Costco) and what payment options and benefits were available to Costco members. I took a few different estimates from other companies and although I found comparable equipment and installations that might have priced out cheaper than Around the Clock, the benefits received from Costco for CostcoCash along with direct cash refunds made them very appealing. Michael is very patient in the process of answering any and all questions regarding the equipment, installation, etc. The installation was smooth and painless. The team of two installers were polite and professional. They worked clean which is greatly appreciated. The installation took about a day and a half. End result: I'm very satisfied with my experience with Around the Clock. A very professional installation with great customer service. The new system has completely transformed the comfort level of my home. It's already been battle tested in this SGV summer and I couldn't be happier. If you're on the fence in deciding whether or not Around the Clock is a vendor you'd like to use, I whole heartedly recommend them.
