Great place - 5 stars!…read more I've been buying most of my meat products from Coborn's in Ramsey for many years. But I haven't been very happy with the "Four Brothers" brand. (The previous "Kretschmar" brand was even worse.) Fortunately, I visited Anoka Meat and Sausage for the first time and I'm very impressed. This is definitely my new go-to spot for my zero-carb, meat based diet. This place has nearly everything you could ever want from a meat market. Plus, they have tons of extra specialty products like spices, rubs, sauces...and more. And they're the ONLY place I've found (so far) in my local area that offers bacon with no added sugar! I don't know why it's is so hard to find processed meat with no sugar. Companies insist on throwing sugar in every damn food product and they even do it with meat...rotisserie chickens, hot dogs, sausages, hot dogs, jerky, brats, bacon, braunschweiger, etc. Don't believe me? Read the labels. They try to hide it by listing sugars on the ingredient label as organic cane juice, turbinado sugar, sucanat, molasses, honey, dextrose, kings syrup, invert syrup, maltose...you name it...they try to sneak it in everything. I found a website that lists sugars by 65 difference deceptive and sneaky names. It's sad. I guess the big food companies want everyone to be diabetic. Last but not least, the employees are very friendly and I feel the prices are very reasonable. You can go to Main Street Anoka and buy a high end product for the same price (or less) than the big box grocery stores with questionable quality. What's not to love? Thumbs up! -Maxx

This high-end meat shop has the best, most expensive cuts of meat I have ever seen. The MS9+ cuts of wagyu are gorgeous. The marbling! Wow. In addition, there are freezers with an incredible selection of sausage and ground varieties of game meat along with import butter and locally-made dumplings. We needed a nice cut to feed the two of us for Father's Day, so my husband selected the smallest wagyu tomahawk available. We had a fantastic meal.

Part of the reason it is all gone is well, it was super delicious. If you are worried about the amount, get a second pan; it'd be great leftover sandwich meat; cold even. The heating instructions are a bit lacking. I heated it at 350F until the meat was 165F. It was about $20 for the container and worth every dime. Anyhow, I walked over to marathon and got some buns. Then I dipped the sandwich in ghost pepper chile sauce. Easier to control the heat that way. At the end, I was eating a few last tidbits without any sauce and I'm still lickin my lips when noone is lookin..

Dear Von-Hanson's,…read more Is it wrong that I love the smell of meat markets? I mean sure, home baked cookies and the tops of babies heads smell good too, but there's something about that smell of dry rub seasoning melding with fresh meat that's sort of intoxicating in a completely carnivorous sort of way. I live downtown so there's unfortunately not a super convenient VH location for me to patron more frequently. But whenever I head out to my friend's house in Woodbury, I always make a stop here. Hands down, they have the best marinated chicken breasts in the Twin Cities. They trump Lunds/Byerly's in the categories of: - Sheer size (one breast is easily enough to feed 2 adults) - Seasoning variety (garlic, bbq, cajun, dijon, lemon pepper, tomato basil to name a few.) - Price (consistently less per pound than the Lund's equivalent) And we haven't even talked about the beef, the chops, the sausage or the jerky, which are all super high quality. Von Hanson's also gets an extra star for selling Heggie's Pizza out of their frozen coolers. It feels sacrilegious to enter a meat market and buy a frozen pizza, but if you've never had Heggie's you'll have to trust me that this is no Tombstone. By far the best frozen pizza on the market. (I know because we did a taste test of 8 frozen pizza varieties last month: http://bit.ly/bjmZu2) Von Hanson's - you consistently make me the star of my summer BBQ circuit (i.e. my patio) and for that I salute you!
