The first thing that stood out at Hacienda Real was honestly the setting. The patio is gorgeous, the music was upbeat, and the whole place had that relaxed "I'm on vacation in Mexico" kind of energy. Food-wise, vegetarian options are somewhat limited, but there are dishes that can be customized. We tried several things, and the fajita chimichangas were my favorite savory dish. The chile poblano was another good choice and came with fried plantains. I also really enjoyed trying the different guacamoles. The blueberry-mint and pineapple versions were much more interesting to me than the classic. The meal moved at a relaxed pace, which worked perfectly with the patio atmosphere. But the dish I'm still thinking about was dessert: the Chocolate Volcano. Easily the standout of the entire meal and reason enough to save room at the end. Come for the patio, stay for that Chocolate Volcano. read more

I'd heard Hacienda Real was a chain, but I'm not from Illinois, so I wasn't sure. Either way, the décor was lovely and gave off major Mexican getaway vibes--you definitely wouldn't think you were in Illinois once you stepped inside. I'm a huge sucker for a good POZOLE ROJO, and theirs really hit the spot. The AGUACHILE DE CAMARON was also a great starter. I was honestly surprised to see such low ratings because we really enjoyed the food, and the servers were super attentive. Overall, a lovely experience! ENJOY! read more

Its like a mini Mexico getaway. Very colorful space that was playing upbeat music with fun vibes. The drinks were amazing and although the vegetarian options were limited but real good. Hubs had a gala time choosing as he is not a vegetarian. My favorite was the fajita chimichangas. read more

V wanted to go out for Mexican food, and he had his eye on Hacienda Real. He had eaten lunch here a while back and wanted me to experience the restaurant. We arrived on Friday at 8:30PM. They had a wait list of 30 minutes, though I think they seated us a little quicker than that. The clientele was a diverse group, families, and couples, and larger groups, with ages ranging widely, as well as ethnically diverse. That is really good to see, and speaks well for the appeal of the restaurant. The entertainment didn't seem quite right; they had a DJ playing loud club music, and not music one might expect in a Mexican restaurant. For me, forget about talking to anyone; it was so loud I gave up trying to hear the waiter and let V do all the talking. We ordered drinks and appetizers. A dish of nacho chips, with a very watery salsa was included. I'm not a fan of watery salsa, though V said he liked it. For drinks, A Mule for me and a frozen Mango Margarita for V. We could taste the alcohol in the drinks, and the flavor balance was spot on. The first appetizer was Crispy Calamari. V thought it was good, but the word Crispy wasn't quite accurate; it was a touch soggy to me. The second appetizer was Tiradito de atun, tuna on a bed of lettuce drizzled with a sauce. The Tuna was excellent; it paired well with the sauce and mixed greens. I'd highly recommend this appetizer. Shortly after we finished our appetizers, our entrees arrived. I was in the mood for something Mexican with rice, so I ordered Enchiladas de mole. It came with four enchiladas covered in Mole, with a small scoop of some sort of green rice on the side. The enchiladas were pretty decent, but the rice, for some reason, included green beans, like from a bag of frozen green beans. They were cooked, but why were they in the rice? V ordered the La Paella, flamba. He said it was the best Paella he's ever had, and he's ordered Paella in Barcelona Spain, and Puerto Vallarta Mexico, so that it saying a lot. We were both surprised to see his dish served with flames, it made for quite the show. Our waiter was fine; he checked on us and made an effort to interact with both of us. Frankly, my rating would be 3 stars, but V loved everything and thinks it's a wonderful restaurant, so our combined rating is 4 stars. read more

My husband and I celebrated his birthday here this past Saturday. I made reservations online for 6pm, we got there 10 minutes early and the house was full! We had to wait a few minutes to be seated. The place had a nice ambiance with a live DJ to set the mood. Even though this place was packed and full, we didn't feel smothered and had personal space. For starters, they served us chips with delicious salsa, you could really taste the chipotles in the salsa, next we ordered an appetizer with was shrimp ceviche. My main course was the sizzling fajitas and I chose two proteins (shrimp and steak), my husband got the pechuga which was a new item and it's slow roasted pork. When the food came out, I was disappointed the fajitas weren't sizzling!! That's what I was looking forward to because I saw other customers and theirs came out sizzling. I think the shrimp and steak portion was pretty small and I got mainly peppers and onions. My husband said his food was delicious but the only problem is the fact it wasn't hot anymore it was cold. Since we both don't consume alcohol, we ordered the Sundia mocktail. Our night ended with a birthday cake celebration for my husband but they got his name wrong during the birthday song and sang someone else's name. We still had fun regardless. read more

Food looks good, no much flavor ! Also I had a bone in my chicken , almost choked. Told the server. Didn't care. Said it came from chicken n it was normal!?!? Normal?!? Didn't care. Say she can replace it but I'm hungry and already messed up on my husbands food. read more

Pretty interior decorating! (except for the fly that kept flying around the Bird of Paradise (fake) plants that surrounded our booth. My bench wasn't tethered to the wall and kept moving. We all laughed about that. Loud at 4pm! Family oriented and friendly atmosphere but be prepared to talk loud and or yell across the table. Specialty Drinks on the pricey side but good. Food, well, let's see, how can I explain? The Mole Enchiladas are only offered with chicken, No other meat. Nothing special. The Burrito steak meat bland nothing you can't get at the corner stand. Oh and the salsa black bean brown stuff? Awful, but Homemade chips very good. Rosa, Beautiful and attentive waitress. Simply lovely lady. Unfortunately we won't be returning. read more

Tuesday @ 5:30. Approached hostess stand and requested a table for four. We were asked if we had reservations, which we did not, and were then seated right away. I just found it curious to be asked. Wouldn't the average person state that they had reservations if they did? Anyway, we were seated at a very nice table nestled in the middle of a very lovely dining room. There were large decorative pillows in each chair. They were very pretty to look at, but very uncomfortable to sit on. We removed them, and placed them on the floor. We waited just under five minutes before someone dropped off chips and salsa, and then another five minutes before our server approached. He had a very strong accent, and he spoke very quietly ( and the music was very loud)...so none of us could make out a word he said. He then walked away before we could indicate that we were ready to order. He returned about ten minutes later to actually take our order. We ordered a Burrito Bandera, a Burrito Macha, a Classic Chimichanga, and an Arroz con Pollo. The food arrived in around 15 minutes, and it all looked beautiful. I only wish it had tasted as good as it looked. Nothing was bad; it just wasn't that good. I had the Burrito Macha. It was very dry. It would appear the chicken was dark meat (which was not noted on the menu), and it was very gamey tasting. Hubby loved his Arroz con Pollo. The other two diners indicated their food was just ok. They both complained that their food was dry. "Nothing special" Our server never checked in on us...not once. I wanted to get some salsa to add to my dry meal, but nobody came by, so I ate it as it was. When we were done, somebody came by and cleared every last item off our table...EVERYTHING including water glasses, beverage glasses, every plate, every utensil, every napkin, the chips....EVERYTHING! It was clear they wanted us to leave. Our waiter brought the check at this time. Then, he hovered around us waiting for us to pay. It was all very uncomfortable. If you've ever been "rushed" out of a restaurant, you know what I'm talking about. We will not return, and I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this restaurant. There are just so many better Mexican restaurants in this area. read more

Bolingbrook has a NEW GEM! Had the chance to check out this beautiful new upscale Mexican restaurant in Bolingbrook, and babyyyy... it was a whole experience! The decor is absolutely gorgeous -- elegant, sexy, and perfect for a date night or girls' night out. The ribeye was DELICIOUS , and if you're a tequila lover, this place is definitely for you because they have every type of tequila you can imagine! And then came the icing on the cake... I was serenaded by the saxophonist . The music, the ambiance, the food, the drinks -- everything came together perfectly. Definitely adding this one to my "I'll be back" list! 10/10 for the vibes, food & experience! #BolingbrookEats #MexicanCuisine #DateNightVibes #FoodieAdventures #Ribeye #TequilaLovers #GoodFoodGoodVibes #ChicagoSuburbs #GirlsNightOut read more

Omg killer food!! My husband kept saying he wanted to go try it but we weren't ready after working in the yard so he opted to order and pick up. We both got taco salads. He got the regular beef and I got the chicken tinga which was much more flavorful! He already said next time he'd definitely get that. Both were good though. We cracked into it so fast we didn't take any pictures. We definitely will go in next time. My Hubby said it was very beautiful inside. Good job Hacienda Real!! read more

Extremely high in price!! Food was not that great. Waiter didn't understand options for vegetarians. Tacos with beans and lettuce and 2 huge tomatoes that weren't diced. No cheese! I will stuck with Taco Dale. They give vegetarian options. read more

The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, from the elegant seating and décor to the stunning artwork throughout. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The food was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and was one of the best I've had. Everything we ordered exceeded my expectations. I had such a wonderful experience that I've already recommended this restaurant to my family and friends. I will definitely be returning and can't wait for my next visit. Highly recommend! read more

We came here for a Friday lunch and we were immediately taken aback by the beautiful space. We all agreed that we felt like we were transported to a tropical resort and we didn't feel like we were in Bolingbrook anymore! I made reservations and it was probably a good idea because the place was hopping even for lunch time. They offered their regular menu as well as a lunch menu to choose from. I opted for the steak and eggs on the lunch menu and my friend and I shared the margarita flight. The skirt steak that I got was so tender and flavorful. My eggs were cooked perfectly. It also came with some potatoes and tortillas. It was perfect for lunch. The margarita flight came with 3 different margaritas. Since it's was lunch time, it was nice that my friend and I shared it and we got to try a little bit of everything. If you haven't been, I highly recommend visiting. The space is gorgeous and our server was amazing! The price was also decent considering the whole experience. read more

Food, decor, and service are, in a word, impeccable! We've done both done-in and takeout and we've never been disappointed. Family and I have had their ceviche de camaron, sopecitos trio, taquitos, molcajete, ribeye, camarones al mojo de ajo, taco salad, kids steak taco meal, churros and volcan de chocolate, and every.single.one was a hit. Also had their Margaritas trio and sangria - top notch! When dining in, everyone checks in on you regularly, food comes out fairly quickly, and so much detail and attention was paid to the furniture, lights, tableware, music, etc. Takeout was ready when they said it would be. Best restaurant we've been to in a long time and we can't wait to go back again soon. Congrats to the whole Hacienda team! read more

Unfortunately, our first experience at this restaurant was disappointing. We were looking forward to trying it, but some of the food lacked flavor and the overall flavor profile simply did not meet our expectations. We were also there to celebrate a birthday and had indicated that it was a special occasion. What was especially disappointing was finding out that the restaurant would not acknowledge or accommodate the birthday unless we purchased a cake through them. Since this was our first time there, we had no idea this was their policy, and unfortunately the birthday went completely unrecognized. For a restaurant where people come to celebrate special occasions, better communication and even a small acknowledgment would have made a difference. Between the underwhelming food and the disappointing birthday experience, our first visit unfortunately did not leave us wanting to return. read more

Drinks were amazing and the plating is unique. Everything tasted wonderful. Great ambience.

Our party of six was seated at 4:50 p.m., and we planned to order Happy Hour margaritas before dinner. Our waitress arrived a few minutes before 5:00 p.m. and took our orders but quickly returned to say the ordering system would not accept them because Happy Hour had ended. I showed her on my iPhone that it was exactly 5:00 p.m. and reminded her that our orders had been placed before 5:00 p.m. She replied, "I'm sorry, but do you still want the margaritas?" It seems reasonable that she could have asked a manager to review the situation and override the system so we could receive the Happy Hour price. Instead, the experience suggested that the restaurant's staff training could use a stronger focus on customer satisfaction. I ordered two enchiladas and a taco. The food had good flavor, but the enchiladas had very little filling and were dry. Others in our group ordered fajitas, salmon, and a quesadilla, which they seemed to enjoy. Conversation was difficult because of the loud music and poor room acoustics. Overall, there are better places to spend your money and enjoy a good meal. read more

Real review for Hacienda Real in Bolingbrook -- for real, I really love this place! Vibe is so good, staff is friendly and nice and they actually greet you when you walk in. They had a DJ AND a saxophone player live. Like, the whole atmosphere is just different. And the food is wonderful. I've been trying a lot of stuff already, I haven't even tried everything yet and everything I've had is good. I'm so pleased with this restaurant. Bolingbrook needed this! read more

Great food reasonably priced. The service was good could have been better if more waiters had been working. It could have been due to us dining Wednesday at 2PM. Despite that the staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The vibe/ambiance was great with a great decor. Be sure to get the Texas Margaritas. I highly recommend the place and will be returning. read more

First time here and sat at the bar . Bartender super slow and had to keep getting his attention for more drinks for us and or anything at all . We gave him many chances to ask us if we needed anything or more drinks ....never did one time . Wasn't just us he was like that to the people on both sides of us also and all we heard was - great place but a Sad bartender ruined it at the bar . We did notice also how he grabbed ingredients for drinks with his hands and no tongs and then turned around and would touch / grab everything else YUCK !!! Bar view was very busy and a lot going on as the garbage can was over filled and in plan site and unpleasant. But besides the Slow horrible bartender that seemed lost and spent 80% of his time at the computer / register staring, at it looking lost ....the food was good and simple drinks were ok . We would have ordered more and spent a lot more but not from Slowpoke Rodriguez!!!!! Very disappointed and was happy to have a Hacienda closer to us and brand new ! read more

Be very careful if you're allergic to peanuts because we ordered fried ice cream. The menu doesn't mention peanuts at all. We asked about the ingredients, and they completely changed them. They put in Mazapan, which is made of peanuts. I mentioned all my allergies in my reservation, and they didn't pay attention. The food was very good, but it was very bad that they didn't pay attention to something so important. We had to run out to the emergency room. read more

My wife and went to the bolingbrook location to experience what are friends spoke highly about. This was on Friday 5/19 @7 pm. As we had no reservation we didn't mind the forty-five minute wait for a table. What struck us was the three young girls at the entrance would not stop talking amongst themselves to acknowledge us so I had to waive my hand to try and get their attention. After we were called for a table we had the same problem getting them to stop talking and assist us. Finally we were seated right at the kitchen service area in a table for kids. I asked for another table but was informed that would very another forty-five minutes behind people who came later. We decided to leave because of their lack of common courtesy. read more

The food was great, we ordered fajitas, paella, a burrito, ceviche, and the grilled octopus. The waiter, Christian, was very knowledge and charismatic. The host, who we believe to be the owner, was frazzled and slightly backhanded. The food and ambiance made up for that interaction. 100/10 recommend the fried ice cream as well. read more

Went here for lunch with hubby and a friend. The decor is beautiful, but the food was definitely lukewarm and unremarkable. Lunch was $90 for us and I brought leftovers home and tossed them. So looking forward to a great experience at a new restaurant in Bolingbrook. The remodel of the old Red Robin is outstanding with a beautiful bar and many large seating arrangements for large groups. You don't see that everywhere. So nice! Quite upscale and very well appointed. Great patio. I realize they have only been open about two weeks. BUT... took well over two hours for a dinner for 6 people. Had to ask for water. Had to ask for cutlery. Had to ask for menus. Waited forever for drinks, then apps, then dinner and finally had to get up and find our server to request the check (and as others have stated, the table had been COMPLETELY cleared as our family waited at an empty table before leaving). Unable to serve a Shirley Temple for the kids?  No grenadine??  Six meals were served cold on burning hot plates. My meal in particular was covered in lime juice, which overpowered everything.  My son ordered the burrito macha- pork. Came served with shrimp. Luckily, we don't have food allergies but WOW, that's a service 101 basic you don't get wrong.  Automatic 20% gratuity PLUS 3% for a party over 5 people. Overall terrible service. Mediocre food. Very expensive.  Not what we expected.  Unfortunately, with service like this, and less-than-stellar food, it won't survive. read more

Service was terrible. The manager is a total jerk! I understand that they are just getting settled with new people but we've been there 3 times and spent well over $1000. Went back tonight and had terrible service, received the wrong order food, they bring out the food without the tortillas and it took a long time to get them. By that time food was cold. My wife complained to the manager and he was a total ass. Thought they would compensate us with at least a drink but instead he thought it would be a great idea to insult my wife. Well I don't care if the food is free. We will NEVER be back there and I'll happily spread the word to stay away from this place. Change your name to Hacienda Unreal. read more

First off this is NOT your traditional Mexican restaurant for normal families. I don't know what idea they're getting at at this place. It was recommended to me by family that lives in Yorkville and had been to the Yorkville location some years ago so we were very excited when we saw it opening up here I couldn't wait to try it. It was just my husband and myself (We're in our 60s) expecting to enjoy a nice pretty much quiet dinner and it was I believe Saturday night Fourth of July or the day before, at any rate upon walking up to the place the front doors were open and there were two women standing outside of the restaurant smoking, but because the doors were open, cigarette smoke was pouring into the very front of the restaurant. Then we asked for a table and not a booth, but upon looking around the restaurants, they're really are not Any, or if so, very very few tables for two. this restaurant is more set up for large parties or groups maybe to celebrate special occasions. As we were walking in, which should've cued us right there to turn around and walk right out the door, club music was playing very loudly in the restaurant why we stayed. I have no idea we just wanted to try the place that we heard so many good things about. So the music was loud to begin with thumping, heart-pounding club music not the traditional Mexican music like we usually come to expect when eating at a Mexican restaurant. So, as I said, there's a lot of groups celebrating certain occasions and that's where the Texas Roadhouse type vibe came in. You have all the waiters and waitresses coming out with some type of dessert or drink and sparklers all screaming and singing and what not for the person's celebration birthday or whatever they're celebrating that adds to the noise level now. this was like about 9:30-10 at night. We were sitting next to a family with a baby who was I'm gonna guess between six months old and a year-old which when they were in their carrier were nice and quiet, but I don't know what prompted it to start crying, but it cried and it screamed and cried and screamed and cried and screamed, and mom and dad just didn't seem too worried about removing the nuisance Child from the rest of the restaurant guests. I do gather it was so noisy that Most people were not only probably not in earshot because of the other noise around the entire restaurant, but also probably quite in an inebriated state from all the celebration drinks they had. And they all seem to be quite younger. So After experiencing this restaurant, we've come to the conclusion that it is not for us. It is for people who are younger much younger, who enjoy a very loud celebratory vibe while dining. The waitress was good and honestly I can't even remember the food. I was so disgusted with the place and getting a headache from the boisterous obnoxious crowds and the heart thumping club music from the DJ that all I could think of was to get the heck out of there as soon as we could. So we rushed through dinner and just chalked it up to lesson learned. If that's your thing you might really enjoy this place But for us there so many other typical boring Mexican establishments in the surrounding areas that we really like that we will continue to enjoy and leave this place to the younger generation. Enjoy young ones!!! read more
