My chiropractor scale is as follows... avoid like the plague, bad, meh, decent, solidly good, & damn near magical. Most chiropractors rank in bad to meh categories, and offer superficial adjustments after getting through their overpriced paywall of useless assessments and needless x-rays etc. Many of these also reek of somewhere between used car salesperson and cult leader (and if you've seen a few chiropractors, you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about). Enter Dr. Mark Northrup, who easily stands in the "damn near magical" category. Chiropractors of this caliber not only offer skillful adjustments, but directly target the root cause of your injury/misalignment + teach you methods to address the problem at home and to prevent it from returning. What makes Dr. Mark stand out even among top providers is his genuine and caring demeanor, completeness of his treatments (which always include stretching + soft tissue work), his ability to articulate what's gone wrong + how to fix it, his lived experience as an lifetime athlete, reasonable pricing, plus being someone I can trust to treat both my buddies along with family members like my aunt and pregnant sister. Highly recommend and an easy five out of five stars.

(It also helped that he has almost 100 5 star rating on google and not a single negative review) I had slept on my couch for a few days while my brother was visiting me and had such bad sciatic pain I couldn't drive or sit for very long, my doctor at Kaiser told me to just wait it out and after a month of pain I decided to try a chiropractor. What really impressed me was the thorough and in depth information that he provides. You get an X-ray which he analyses and explains to you during the following visit, followed by a treatment plan. Dr Rueben was able to identify trauma to my neck, and the age around which I had received it, stemming from a snowboarding accident where I landed on my head (thanks for the helmet dad!) that I had completely forgotten about. It's been a few years since I've been, but Trent really saved me from the extremely painful lower back pain I had. A relative highly recommended him, as Cortisone treatments weren't effective and living with so much pain isn't something anyone should go through. I'd always feared Chiropractors and was against their work (possibly due to a bad experience when younger). However, my relative managed to convince me. My 1st visit began with me waiting in the waiting area completely in tears & unable to sit properly, I was practically against the wall. The evening of my 1st treatment was the first night in months that I was able to sleep much better and in less pain. We had established that I go in a couple of times a week and after my 2nd to 3rd appointment, I slept throughout the night without pain and without waking up stiff as a board with the added pain. I wasn't aware of what exactly I had, but after he felt all areas of my back and areas of targeted pain, I learned that it's Piriformis syndrome. When he described the symptoms, all were 100% on point with how I felt and the pain I had. Trent is amazing at what he does and I trust him 100%. I hope he stays in practice forever because he's a true healer. read more

At the time, the pain was very manageable and was not significantly affecting my daily activities. Unfortunately, immediately after the chiropractic adjustment, my condition became significantly worse. Since that appointment, I have been experiencing severe pain and difficulty lifting and using my right arm. It has now been almost two months, and the pain has become unbearable at times. I had X-rays done, and fortunately, the bones appear normal. Because the pain has continued, I have now scheduled an MRI to determine whether there may be an injury involving the muscles, tendons, ligaments, or other soft tissue. What concerns me even more is the lack of follow-up. I informed the chiropractor about the significant increase in pain after the adjustment, but I did not feel that my concerns were taken seriously. I also requested an appointment to meet with him after August 10 to discuss what happened, and I did not receive a response. I understand that complications can occur with any treatment, and I cannot say what the MRI will ultimately show. However, my experience has been extremely upsetting because I went in with very minor, manageable elbow pain and left with a much more serious problem that has persisted for nearly two months. Based on my personal experience, I would not return to this chiropractor and would not recommend this practice.
