We found the…read morelady at the cashier (short black lady with pixie short haircut) charged me for a whole extra shirt along with $6.99 each for 3 items that were supposed to be $5.29 each per the price lists. After double checking my items/cost and having her take off for the credit for the extra shirt, I asked how she is still getting the total because it was still higher than what it should be, and she immediately became loud and hysterical. She started claiming that the jean jacket along with the 2 other jackets (i had now put back) were considered "sports/formal wear" so it's $6.99 each instead of the usual jacket price $5.29. The price for a goodwill jacket is 5.29 on all goodwill websites and price lists at the store. And there was nothing fancy or formal about this jacket, its just blue denim with buttons, no logos, no fringes, nothing. It doesn't even feel like real denim, its thinner and doesnt feel textured and feels cheap. And it's shrunk in general, the bottom edge on the back is shriveled up/shrunk. I found the jacket in question is originally from Walmart. She realized I was confused on how she is categorizing the clothes/since this jean jacket looked nothing like formal or sports wear to me, and given that there's no price tags, I wanted to make sure we were on the same page. She screamed saying she is grabbing the manager (tall blonde white man), who I saw had been friendly with this same cashier earlier, when they were both slowly hand-counting all the cash in the register right in front of me while I was waiting in front of them to be rung up. He finally came over and said after a minute "yeah its a sports jacket." I didn't get how a cheap jean jacket was a sports jacket, but I asked to see where it says "sports jackets are 6.99" on the price list, and there was no answer from either of them and cashier goes loudly and angrily, "Do you want it?" It sucks i look young for my age but she was just so belligerent and rude,// belligerently rude. And what's crazy is the manager was going along with it. By this time the entire store was silent/staring, including the line behind me. Finally she screamed that it's not on the price list and she just knows that's the price. 6.99 for the jean jacket aka "sports/formal wear". Mind you the manager was just standing there the whole time looking at me red-faced not doing anything during this entire interaction. I bought the jacket* for $6.99, but feel terrible. It's not about the money, but more about them making up prices with no price tags on the items and then how the cashier screams at you while the manager stares at you. And I would never wear this to a formal event or to do sports. ??? Overall, I wonder if it's even worth it to shop at a Goodwill like this vs. just going to the sales section in the actual store instead. At least clothing stores would have set prices and brand new clothes. Will never go back here. Beware if u find something you like, the lady at the cashier (short black older lady with short pixie cut) and the manager (tall white man with yellowish blonde hair) will make up prices on the spot and are bullies. This was 5/18/2026 around 5-730pm

The lady at the register then started yelling "no cups no cups" and when I didnt realize she was talking to me she said "yes young lady im talking to you". I understand they have rules but it definitely couldve been handled better. Respect goes both ways. I then called & emailed their HR and got no response.

The store is usually clean and organized (for a thrift store). The prices are usually very consistent and they don't seem to try and charge antique store prices for some of the nicer stuff that comes through. They get it. You move volume -- you don't run off your customers with stale inventory and a back shelf full of high dollar items that sit there for months until they get marked down to a reasonable number. Cons: The music. They play a very limited selection of "Christian" music that is usually just pop-music ripoffs with the redundant lyrics. The staff can *sometimes* be hard to tolerate. I do understand that they put up with A LOT of crazy, but I've had to overhear some pretty borderline racist things about "immigrants" over the last couple of years. Remember ladies, when you're preaching to the choir outside of of the congregation, some people might not appreciate overhearing you recite some of your conservative media talking points. All-in-all, it's a great thrift store, and since most of them are now Ebay stores that sell the junk they can't get bids for, it's one of the few left around. I recommend you not talk to ANYONE, or try to make eye contact with ANYONE. There are a lot of very "eccentric" people who are either trying to spew crazy or convert you.

They share space with The Lemon Tree in part of the second room to the store. The store is in the Renaissance Plaza Center near the Renaissance Centre and bowling alley. Since there is a sidewalk, you can walk from one place to the other easily. There is generally plenty of free parking in the parking lot unless an event is happening. When you enter, there is a ramp inside the store to take you smoothly down into the main book displays. The children's section is in the front section. Other genres are clearly labeled throughout the store. Don't miss the second half of the store in the other room. The bookstore is locally owned and has a large, knowledgeable staff, so you will always find someone friendly and willing to help you navigate the shelves. Personally, I love that the store features banned books, as I always want to read what they don't want me to read! I like the staff picks too and reading their thoughts on a book. I appreciate that local authors are highlighted here. On my last visit, I was thrilled to score a signed copy of a local author's book that is only sold at Page 158 Books. I also got another book not normally in my genre for a more fun read. Page 158 Books has book clubs, author signings, and other events. Back when they were on White Street, they had coloring nights and brought the community together and introduced me to the store. It is a great local bookstore!
