The seed for Habitat for Humanity was planted at a community farm outside of Americus, Georgia by farmer and biblical scholar Clarence Jordan. Jordan along with Habitat founders Millard and Linda Fuller developed the concept of partnership housing. Those in need of shelter would work side by side with volunteers to build affordable homes at no profit. House payments would be combined with no interest loans provided by supporters which would then be used to build more homes. In 1973, the Fullers took their house building concept to Zaire where they worked for three years. When they returned to the United States they founded Habitat for Humanity International in 1976. President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn became involved and raised awareness. Habitat is now in all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. They have helped 29 million to be able to afford safe shelter. In 1991 Habitat for Humanity launched the concept of the ReStore in Winnipeg, Canada. In 1992 the first Habitat for Humanity restore opened in the U.S. in Austin Texas. The ReStores accept donations from the community and home improvement stores and then resells the items to the public at a discounted price. The profit from the ReStore supports the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate. This ReStore is located in Delray Beach along Federal Hwy. I was pleasantly surprised by the breadth of items they carry. There were some very nice and reasonably priced furniture pieces along with mattresses, home decor, books, small appliances, art, paint, ceiling fans, and even clothes. Basically anything you would find in a home is sold here. This was actually one of nicer ReStores I have been in. I love their mission and this store is definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. read more

Shame on me Went there to find a magazine holder (sits on the floor, wooden, you know ... old). Found it right away. Waiting on line. Guy comes up and asks if that's all I'm buying . Price is $10, discounted 40%. He says right there $6.42, hand him a twenty. He goes to other register, people behind me want to get to the register I'm in line for. He comes back hands me change and receipt. I pocket the change, pick up the stand go out drive off. Next store reach for the $10 which should be part of my change...it's not there. Looked at the receipt. Son of a.... Shame on me for not checking...forget that I'm in Florida. read more

Sometimes you find stuff and sometimes you don't. It's definitely good to repurpose items. I've gone before and they had all clothes marked for $1. Doesn't happen all the time. I think they have different sales through the week, but you can call and ask before going. read more

Service is appalling...we asked for a price of an ottoman...we were told by the "Manager" (Gail I believe)...that she needed to go to the bathroom and that we would need to wait!!!! OMG...I have never experienced service like that...she should NOT be in the service industry....she was the store manager!!!!! With all the political turmoil and racial issues going on, one would think that people would be more conscious. Bear with me and read on.. I've been trying to schedule a pick up for about 2 weeks and basically playing phone tag. Decided to go to the store and leave a note to request a follow up. Someone took time off their day today, to call me and question me "how I put the note inside their locked office". It just so happens that my area code is from Puerto Rico (787)... And this person called me, and assumed I broke into her locked office to leave said note. That's kind of comedic.. in a sad way May be the very real possibility that your coworker, who has access to your office, left the note there for business purposes(?). Had I "broken into the office", a lot of people would have seen it happen. How would I know where to leave the note(?) Let's see if the call back and scheduling happens at last. Was looking for a place to donate some old furniture, so we dropped by our local store. This store is so much bigger and nicer than the Boca one. They have lots of furniture, especially diningroom sets. Prices are a bit on the high side, but they have sale days. I'm sure if you wanted something, they can work with you. If I could 0 I would. Came while still open technically for another 10 minutes but staff wanted to close anyway. Saw 2 rusty metal stools which I would have bought to repaint. Other better condition stools were selling for $30-40. Woman refused to sell them. I offered 10-20cash and she said $85 each just to get me out of the store. Not the way to treat customers. Don't bother buying or donating. read more

We tried to buy two couches that had just been dropped off and they made us wait over an hour for a decision then priced them more than brand new. And walked away laughing because they new they way over priced it. Looking for some used furniture. Their pricing is confusing ... White board says 50 percent off most items. Then another sheet says colored tags represent 10, 20, 30 percent off. Which one is it ??? Went alllllllllll the way to Delray to go to this store to look for some furniture to either redo or use in a living room I had redone. Was excited the whole way there at the thought of getting a bargain. What a joke. The prices are so expensive!!! I don't understand how stuff that is donated can be resold for such ridiculous prices. I saw a small end table. Maybe a foot across and maybe 2 ft tall. The table top had multiple scratches on it and 2 legs had big scrapes down they side. They wanted $75. Excuse me?!?! Maybe worth $40 at the most. I should've taken notice that there were only 4 other cars in the lot when I pulled up on a Saturday. Nothing really struck me as worth what they were charging so I left empty handed and disappointed. Definitely won't be making a trip there again. If you have money to burn and just want to spend, then go here. If you are looking for a bargain, keep looking. read more

I have to say, this was quite a disappointing and painful experience. I lost my Mom last year, so August of 2021, I went to her home to clean it out. I thought it would be a nice thing to donate her stuff to the Habitat for Humanity. There are two in Delray Beach, FL. Needless to say, it was a very emotional time for me. So I call up and get a woman on the phone who was very short with me. I get that you have to ask if the couch is in good shape, dirty, ripped, etc., but her tone was curt and just the way she was speaking with me, sounded like she was accusing me of giving her junk, like she was above me. I usually get names, but I don't remember hers but MaryAnne is ringing a bell. I told her my story how I was only in FL for 2 weeks and I was pressed for time and needed to get a date and she said, well, I got nothing for you, and kept putting me on hold and with every time she put me on hold, she sounded more and more annoyed. My Uncle saw I was upset and said to call when I got home and he would stay and wait for them on whatever day they gave me. Well, I've been trying to get in touch with them for 2 weeks. They never answer and call back when I can't answer. Finally, I get a man on the line who had zero personality as well and and he gives me a date for November 15th between 3pm & 4:30pm. My poor Uncle sits there and they are a no show! I tried calling to see where they were and of course, they didn't answer. I just got a call from the same lovely women and she asked if they showed up.....Really? You don't know? I said no, they didn't and started to tell her that I tried calling, and she cut me off and said, "well hold on miss and I will find out what happened!" and threw me on hold so I hung up. She called back and left me a voicemail saying that I told them to reschedule! What?? I certainly did not! And now they lie! Nice! I called the Breast Cancer Organization and they are coming next week and were very grateful. Since my Mom was a two time Breast Cancer survivor, I was very happy to have chosen them. You would think that Habitat for Humanity would be grateful that people are donating bags of clothes, a pull out couch, two chairs, decorations, lamps, pocket books and more. There was NO HUMANITY in this at all! read more

If you have furniture to donate, don't call these folks. I called them with a Thomasville dining table and 6 chairs to donate. Intake phone person said 'yes' they would accept it. Set appt (for a week later). Pick up team arrived, sent photo to manager and he said 'no, don't want it'. What a waste of time for all involved. read more

If you are looking for gently used furniture definitely check this store out. The selection is excellent and the staff members are friendly and helpful. We bought a sofa bed that looked new and the bed had never been used for $180. as well as a dresser, side chest,coffee table all for $275. which includes the sofa. The store is clean and well organized. I will definitely shop here again. read more

I have never found anything in this store, in spite of visiting numerous times. Prices are high, esp. considering there is a Goodwill center 1/2 block south. I visited the ReStore in Dundee FL recently, and the differences were amazing, The Dundee store was clean, well lit, very well organized, and the staff was super friendly. read more

Me and my boyfriend came here to just look around since we were in the area. I was looking at the shoes and as i was trying on a pair of boots, after no longer than 5 minutes of being there, an employee (old lady, frizzy blonde hair, glasses, looks unkept) started standing right by us asking us how we were and calling for someone to help her in the area we were on the radio. We tried to ignore her following and staring at us, my boyfriend picked up a jacket and duffle bag and we decided no on the jacket and the duffle bag was way over priced ($25 at the thrift??) so the woman following us is calling on the radio to "check camera 10" and when we walk out ,with nothing, she says bye and waves and as we get in our car she brings 3 other employees out pointing to see where we went and telling them i guess what she thinks happened and is clearly looking for us.. so we pull up in our car and i asked if there's a problem and she says no and i said "are u sure ur looking for us and following us" and she tries to say we were holding a bunch of stuff and we're putting it in the duffle bag even thought we were only in there for max 10 minutes cus it was NASTY and HER, i told her i wouldn't want anything in there anyways and she continued to blame us while the manager tells us to "have a good day" while her employee continues to accuse us of theft. So anyways 0/10 don't recommend if u plan on looking around and holding things u maybe wanted to buy while here. read more

Out of all the ReStore locations in South Florida, this one is my favorite! The manager Dee along with the rest of the staff are friendly and great at what they do. This location is fair with their prices and they have a great selection of items to choose from. They make it easy to donate items and get a receipt for tax purposes. Also if you are in need of getting community service hours done this is the place to go. They make the work environment fun. They truly are a great organization. read more

Unlike the other H4H ReStores, this location had used clothing and dishes, etc. for sale. They are closed Mondays but open Sundays, and had quite a crowd today. I thought their paint prices were way too high especially compared to other ReStores. Many of the paint cans did not have a paint chip or sample on them either. Example of high paint prices are $5 for a paint sample container that I can get from Lowes for $3.99. Lots and lots of off street parking. Open Tuesday through Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 11-5. read more

This is a good organization and a true charity from what I have seen so far. The team they have at the front desk is very friendly and helpful. Not only are you having fun shopping.
