Pre formed meat patties with fake grill marks.
J D.

I'm sorry to say this because I was excited for this place to open but it was TERRIBLE. Couple of nights ago we picked up food to take home. First strike was the gyro meat is pre formed strips with fake grill marks that they just warm up. Second strike was the chicken and beef shawarma was old and completely dry and hard. Third strike was the tzatziki sauce was spoiled!! Gross! Don't waste your money here, we have much better options in town

Top: flaffel wrap. Bottom: beef & lamb wrap (both ordered "crispy"
Alesia i.

So happy to see a new place in Marina where the brewery used to be. Came around 330 for a late lunch & was immediately greeted. Service was fast. We each ordered a shawarma wrap both "crispy" but when we got it, only one side was "crispy" I was expecting something like a chimichanga I guess. Great flavors on both wraps. 1 beef/lamb & 1 flaffel. We ordered some flaffels to go. Definitely home made w/great flavor. Will be back to try other items on the menu!

Lentil soup with cilantro
Baxter D.

First try at this new restaurant and really wanted to like it. The server was attentive and friendly, but everything we tasted was bland or just not tasty. Prices are a bit high at around $25 a plate. Lentil soup was watery and mostly tasted like cilantro since that was fresh on top. The hummus was my least favorite thing on the plate. It tasted weird. The rice was the best thing on the plate. I found the meats, chicken and beef to be dry and overdone. Had to add a lot of sauce to it. Pita was also a bit bland. I don't know if they are just not salting the food right or maybe it was an off day. It's just didn't mesh with my tastes. I wouldn't return. I'm not sure how all these high star reviews found their way here. Maybe they stopped at the dispensary around the corner before eating here.

"Mediterranean Salad" and a tiny pickle dish.

I was excited to try this place. Went on a Saturday afternoon, place was empty. Wait staff was pleasant and attentive. Ordered hummus, which doesn't come with any pita and was lacking in flavor. Ordered pita, 1 piece of pita for $2. Ordered the Mediterranean salad, which was described as cucumber, tomato, herbs, crispy pita chips $13. What came out was a small bowl of chopped tomatoes, spices and peppers. I thought it was part of the hummus order and the salad would come with the meal. Ordered the beef and lamb wrap with a side of Tzatziki sauce ($2) and pickles ($4). The wrap was decent, the Tzatziki came out in a tiny ramekin, the pickles in a tiny dish. When it came time to pay the bill I asked if the dish they brought out as the Mediterranean salad was a mistake as it wasn't as described nor did it look like it was worth $13. The server went back to the kitchen a few times and told us the chef said the description was a mistake. The server offered to charge us for something that was less expensive and went back to the kitchen again. The server said sorry, there is nothing we can do about the price. How is a tiny dish of tomatoes almost the same price as the wrap? I will never come to this place again. Mediocre food, ridiculous prices for their sides and clearly don't care about their customers.

Baba Ghanouj is delicious but need to give 1 more free pita or naan refill

The good! - friendly service - huge menu selection - generous wrap filling, delicious authentic seasoning - beautiful job converting the bar Caveats: - the Baba Ghanouj is a large portion but you only get 1/2 naan, when we asked for an extra naan they brought 1 pita and charged $1.99 - Be prepared: $5.00 for soft drinks and 3% charge for using a credit card

Dolmas and lamb & beef wrap
Cristian C.

The value proposition is unmatched in the area. Huge wrap filled with meat for $15-16, tasty as well. Very quick service. I recommend

Dolmas!

In the old English Ales - really tasty food! Owned by a local family and it sounds like they have great plans for the place! Pics of food in comments! Highly recommend the lamb wrap! Delicious! They were great with our son's dairy allergy too! https://www.instagram.com/habibis_kabab?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Chicken Shawarma they should call the mega Shawarma
Mike B.

Habibi Kebab is one of those hidden gems you want to keep a secret but just can't stop talking about. This little hole in the wall is serving up some of the best food I've had in a long time. I ordered the chicken shawarma, za'atar fries, and a side of hummus -- and honestly everything was perfect. The hummus had just the right amount of tahini and olive oil -- it was smooth, rich, and fresh. You could tell it was made with care. The za'atar fries were something totally unique. I've never had fries like that before and honestly they were on point. A different experience for sure, but in the best way possible. The shawarma was absolutely fire. And let me tell you -- this thing was HUGE. I'm talking the size of a Chipotle burrito. Literally the biggest shawarma I've ever had in my life. The best part? There are no fillers. It's just pure meat and goodness. The chicken is clearly high quality, the crunch is spot on, and every bite is packed with flavor. They do not cut corners here. If you haven't been, do yourself a favor and go. Habibi Kebab is the real deal and I will definitely be coming back.

I told her the menu board said it came with salad. It sounded like she thought I was ordering a shawarma plate, which maybe does come with sides dishes. A man behind the counter spoke loudly to her (and me?) saying the sandwich doesn't have lettuce. I don't know how they make their sandwiches; she just asked if a I wanted lettuce. He seemed very irritated about a few pieces of lettuce in the sandwich. He asked me did I order a classic? I pointed to the item on the menu and read what it said the ingredients consisted of. He loudly stated that's a classic! Okay. It's classic. Fine. He took over making the sandwich. The woman rang me up. I felt sorry for her, having to work for someone who behaves so aggressively to an employee and a customer. I paid and was happy to leave and will not be returning. I feel badly for the woman. It's possible she was a new employee and maybe not fully familiar with the menu. Nobody should have to endure that kind of treatment.

We had tried Yafa (Michelin stared) a few days earlier and it didn't meet our expectations. Dametra was by far the winner in our minds and tastebuds and we thought deserved the Michelin star more. We shared the combination appetizer which was lovely, my favorites being the taziki dip and spanakopita (best I've ever had) The dolmas were also the best I've ever had by far! They were served warm and included tomato, which I hadn't had one's like that before. My husband had the gyro salad and really enjoyed it because it included so much meat. I had the Greek salad with falafel. The falafel is definitely the best I've ever had and is now my golden standard that all other falafel has to compete with. The serving sizes were generous and I left with leftovers to take home. The service was good and they gave us free baklava before we left. I'm looking forward to eating here again next time we're in Carmel. Also, it was much quicker to dine here than yafa, we were able to walk in and be seated quickly.

The restaurant is located on the lowest level of the Carmel Plaza, I really loved the location because there are plenty of places to park right around there. Between the two of us, we shared: - Miso cacio e pepe: we came specifically for this! It's one of their most well known dishes, and I highly highly recommend! So creamy and savory, and the mafaldine pasta has such a nice texture, the ruffled edges hold on to sauce perfectly. We also added a bit of gochujang that came with the bibimbap and it was so good with some spice. - Dolsot bibimbap: my husband's favorite Korean dish so of course we had to get it! An excellent variety of veggies, which was nice since we barely got any veg on vacation. The kalbi beef was so juicy and delicious, and not overcooked. - Matcha Tiramisu: absolute must get, so unique. The cake layers were soaked in matcha, and topped off with some fresh fruit. - Grapefruit sake spritz: I was on the fence between this cocktail and the yuzu champagne spritz. Our waitress said that the grapefruit spritz was much less sweet, and I am so glad I decided to go with that option! It was the perfect amount of sweetness, not overwhelming. Overall, my husband and I agreed that the matcha tiramisu was the best bite either of us had all weekend!
