Brandon and Cole from Drainfield Solutions arrived bright & early to begin the process of draining and excavating our septic today. We were all signed up for a new distribution box installation as well but that's on hold now that the guys discovered the old box is fully eroded and our drain field is failing. Oh no. That's the bad news. The good news is, in our experience, the office is responsive and easy to communicate with regarding schedule, payment contracts, etc. The workers are friendly and enjoyable to talk to, but also professionals when explaining their findings to someone like me who's never seen an excavated septic before. I can't say we did a ton of research on pricing but although this is an expensive endeavor, I don't feel gouged. I am taking some comfort in previous Yelp reviews, assuming others have looked into that aspect. We were quoted up to $3700 as a ballpark w so much unknown until the dirt was removed. Now that the unexpected has happened we are waiting to hear what the damage will be, all told. Again updates as we go but if you are in the market for septic drain or repair, give Drainfield Solutions a holler.

Problem was he asked me if my wife wears the pants in our relationship. This was prompted by me saying I would talk to my wife concerning something he informed me about (as married couples do for news that involves their house). I could have let that slide as a poorly timed joke if it weren't for him then telling me that he believes women do not belong in the military, police, or as fire fighters. This was stated when I received a message from my coworker and upon me telling him I needed to go assist her, he decided to tell me that viewpoint as he took offense to the idea of a woman working for the military. Having worn the uniform myself, I can say some of the best people I ever served with were women, and this person's viewpoint would not be welcomed in today's military. I told him I respectfully disagree and went back inside to let him finish because at this point I needed to walk away from him. When I called to let the company know the employee sent out was sexist and was freely sharing his views, I was never even asked what was said and their response was "ok I'll tell my boss." Now I would hope my complaint wouldn't fall on deaf ears, but the response to me felt like my complaint would just be "filed away". Due to that, I believe I'll use someone else next time. I do not want anyone who believes women are the lesser sex, or the business that employs them without seeming to care, in my house around my wife or two daughters.

While stationed overseas, my realtor sought Patriot's services to inspect my septic system before an imminent closing. Unbeknownst to Patriot, I had already serviced my septic system prior to vacating the property, ensuring it was fully functional and in need of no repairs. The previous company provided detailed reports and photographic evidence of the system's condition. Additionally, a separate company, separate from the first and Patriot, was hired to empty the tank for the convenience of the new owner and to facilitate any necessary home inspections for their loan. Nonetheless, Patriot conducted their inspection without any supervision; and to my shock, they recommended a complete system replacement. With my closing rapidly approaching and me being overseas, Patriot seized the opportunity to take advantage of the situation. Please be cautious, as Patriot may be proficient in their work, but they clearly lack integrity. I arranged for my own company to reevaluate Patriot's recommendations, and they disagreed with the need for an extensive system replacement. Furthermore, the other company provided supplementary documentation supporting the system's good condition. The most concerning part was Patriot's manipulated the system so the pump could not be further tested. The house was only 7 years old, had a complete inspection and service, but Patriot advocated for an entire system overhaul, including a new pump, control box, and various components. As I shared my experience with others, it came to light that Patriot's practice of recommending unnecessary upgrades and charging for them during inspections is not uncommon. This unscrupulous practice benefits Patriot, as they assume that homebuyers won't be alarmed by an approximately $5,000 bill since these costs are often covered at closing, and sellers are more concerned with the overall profits and selling of their home. As a result, Patriot can unjustly charge exorbitant fees for services that were neither required nor actually performed. In sum, Patriot Septic & Waterworks is a company that must be avoided at all costs. Their lack of professionalism and unethical recommendations and billing practices render them a hazard to anyone in need of septic and waterworks services. I strongly advise you to seek a more reputable and honest company for your septic needs. My experience with Patriot served as a costly lesson for anyone searching for a reliable home services provider.

A few months ago, I noticed one of my gutter covers on the ground, so Cody took it upon himself to check my entire gutter system and make sure every single cover was securely screwed down--something that wasn't even on his schedule for the day. To top it off, he encountered a active wasp nest while working on the roof. She would not tell me anything about pricing and said someone had to come out, but that "there is no charge for an in-home inspection." These people have done a job for me before and I was happy with the price and everything like that, ...but I think they're using variable pricing and sizing you up by sending someone into your house first to feel you out on what you can probably afford and then they present you with "fixed" price options off of a tablet anyway. Well, I've got to ask. If the option prices are fixed on a tablet, why can't the person answering the phone give somebody a price range??? Anyway, the guy came out and told me it was going to be $520 to unbolt the toilet, lift it up, reseal, and then bolt it back down. He was literally not even in there for 22 minutes. This tactic is designed to make you feel pressured and under the gun to just go ahead with it because now you've got someone standing in your house waiting for an answer. If the lady had told me over the phone that it was going to be over $500, I probably would've said "Thank you for your time. I'm going to call around and get some more prices." They knew that once they had someone in the house and ready to do the job, you're probably going to go forward with it because the next company might say "yeah I'll do $400 and I'll see you in three weeks" I talked to some friends later who had similar work done recently and they said "You paid how much????!! The standard for that job in this area is about $350. You got had." I'm never going to use Smooth Plumbing again, I strongly recommend you don't either.
