This is my first experience at the salon with the owner Hannah. I booked a hair appointment with Hannah via text (as I found her through her IG page) and she was very accommodating in my schedule when there was a last minute change. Upon arrival at the salon, you could tell that it was very busy and I was quickly rushed into the a wash and into the chair by someone else. Hannah finally got around to me and asked what I wanted for my haircut which was a very basic maintenance trim. When she started cutting, she didn't talk to me the whole time and was engaging with the guy waiting for his haircut (with another stylist at the salon). It felt really awkward and I felt like I wasn't really getting her time of day that I paid for. By that, I don't mean I require her to talk to me (I much prefer silence) but she wasn't really paying attention to how she was cutting my hair. I don't care how long you've been doing it for or how skilled you claim to be, but it was really unprofessional. It was overall a very average experience and while $40 is reasonable for a women's haircut nowadays, I rather pay more for service that is more attentive and caring. The haircut was a little sloppy in my opinion and didn't grow out very well (I could see unevenness in length). I honestly just felt like she was really half-hearted in the service she provided me. I understand that she is managing her business as an owner but I felt like if I'm your present client, as a hairdresser, you should be engaging with the person whom you're cutting hair for. read more

I don't remember her name but the person at the front desk did my hair when I came in (no appointment on a Friday morning), and offered to wash my hair less than five minutes after my arrival. I was then directed to a seat where she immediately began to ask what I wanted to do with my hair, and since my hair was well overgrown (one would call what I have a pixie cut) I asked if I could get certain areas cleaned up. She happily said yes and began cutting away at the growing mullet down my neck. There wasn't much "small talk" or conversation throughout the whole process but when there was, she wasn't forceful about it and respected that I wasn't talkative, which I appreciated. I noticed that she and the other hairdressers spoke (in Korean) to each other as they were tending to people's hair; I didn't really mind it but I felt kind of awkward, although she did let me know what they said from time to time. She also offered suggestions on what I could do with my hair and wasn't persistent about it like some hairdressers can be. Overall it was a good experience for me and I can say with confidence that I might've found my new go-to salon! I rarely trust anyone with my hair and it's often a risk going to a new place, but for good service at a decent price ($30), I would definitely revisit. read more

Thank you Hannah for making my hair so beautiful! There was a little miscommunication in the beginning because of the photo I showed her that didn't give a very good representation of what I wanted, but she made sure that I left with the hairstyle that I wanted. I had been looking for a hair salon that could do a ombre balayage and so happy I found H2GOA. I felt comfortable here, knowing that my hair was in good hands. Thanks for being patient with me Hannah! Great location and awesome staff! read more

I have been getting my hair done by Hanna and her staff since 2005! Unfortunately, I don't live in Toronto, but whenever I'm in town I always try to come in for a trim, treatment or colour. Treatments at this salon are AMAZING! 100 % worth it and effective Hanna and her staff are always on top of new trends, products, education and the integrity of your hair which is why I always go back Over the years we've built a great relationship. Services I've gotten done and recommend: magic perm, colour, cuts, treatments. Highly recommend hair manicure read more

First off let me tell you that I'm by no means the easiest customer to satisfy, nor am I the toughest critic either. But this was a wonderful atmosphere, good people and remarkable service. I would definitely return to Hannah as a regular stylist. The salon is really nice! Hannah, as always, is very sweet, attentive and listens to exactly what you want. What I like about her is the fact that she will tell you her opinion but she's not pushy about it. She's colored my hair and I received compliments for it. My recent visit, I colored my hair back to a more warm blonde to cover up a balayage job and I got a hair treatment that was recommended by Hannah since my hair was damaged. As expected, she did a wonderful job and her prices are reasonable compared to other salons around town. Hannah is just great and I definitely recommend her! I'll be back again. read more

Let me start off by saying, I LOVE MY HAIR COLOUR! Thank you Hannah! I used to see Hannah for haircuts at Goa a few years back. Then I moved away, but since I moved back to the city, I decided to check out her new place for a colour change. I wanted an ashy/grey brown colour...and I got exactly what I asked for. Hannah is very meticulous with her work and as many other yelpers have mentioned, she KNOWS Asian hair. At first, my hair didn't turn out as she expected, but she was quick to develop another formula that worked VERY well and got me to the colour I wanted. The results were AMAZING, but it took a lot of time. Just a tip (for any appointment, whether you're cutting your hair or colouring) - if you need to be out of the salon by a specific time, tell her. If she can accommodate for it, she will. read more

The worst service I've ever experienced. Spend your money and your time in other hair salons more worthy.

This was by far the worst salon experience I have endured in my 31 years of life. In summary, go to H2GOA if you are looking for horrible service, have over an hour of your time to waste waiting in a crowd, opaque pricing, you don't want your hair washed, you want your hairdresser to barely look at your hair when cutting it for only 5-10 minutes, and you want a hairdresser that doesn't listen to you. These are the details of my experience today: - the owner only said hi when I walked in - it was my first time at the salon and I had to speak to another customer to figure out what to do (they don't take appointments for haircuts) - I signed up on a list that I later learned was not being followed - the other customer asked the owner how long the wait would be for me - the owner just said there were several others ahead of me (no estimate on time) - after over 1 HOUR of waiting I was asked to sit in one of the chairs - the owner barely listened to what I wanted to do with my hair and suggested what I should do (which suspiciously was a lot less work than what I asked for) - she continued to push back on anything I asked for - she started cutting my hair and I had to ask her what we landed on in terms of what style was being cut - she did not wash my hair she did a dry cut - she spent less than 15 minutes in total cutting and curling my hair - there were no price lists anywhere, my friend that recommended the place said it would be around $25 for a cut but the owner charged me $40 for no wash and less than 15 minutes of actual work - to top it off, she didn't even give me my jacket back - I had to ask another hair dresser if I should go to the back to get it myself My Recommendation: save yourself an hour and a half and 40 bucks. You're going to have to go to a real salon after anyway. read more

Waited 40 minutes for a haircut even with an appointment. The hairdresser barely looked or talked to me and kept doing a million things at once like running around to check on other people. Paid $45 for the haircut and it was definitely not worth it. Left the salon with bits of hair all over my face. Not a good experience and definitely won't be coming back. read more

I've known Hannah for quite a long time. I've followed her from the other GoA place to her own store. I found her through Internet reviews a few years back, and continue to see her. She's very nice and has a great memory. The place is always busy, so I recommend making an appointment. Like another reviewer said, if you're there for a long time, you'll probably get a snack/tea. The last time I went to her was in May for a cut and style. It was great. I love the hair cut and she did my bangs exactly as I wanted them. read more

I've been to this place several times. And every single time I really don't like the result. EVERY .SINGLE . TIME. I don't know why I keep going back. Also ,they really push for treatment things which are soooo expensive. Telling me as if it will somehow magically get my hair smooth and shiny and of course it doesn't. What a waste of money and this place is pretty pricey for a Korean hair salon in the neighbourhood. I won't be returning to this place. I just miss my old hair salon that closed down Ps. I know this place pretty famous because of hannah, the owner and I never had a cut or anything done from her. So I'm not saying that she is bad and apparently everyone is praising how good she is but I think she's the only one that is capable. Just book it with hannah or go somewhere to at least get decent pricing. read more

Love how quick they are - I hate paying $80 for a haircut that just seems to be the stylist trying to fill the hour with fluffing. I've never had to wait longer than 5-10 minutes, and often not at all. read more

I've been here multiple times for colour and cuts. My first time experience was great but each time that I came back, the experience started to decline. Sometimes the stylists' constant chatter in Korean feels uncomfortable.. it can feel like they're talking about the customers behind their back. The prices are very reasonable compared to other salons, but the results are not consistent. Hannah was overbooked on one occasion and my hair did not tone evenly. It may be a while before I decide to visit this salon again. read more

over the years, I have been to H2GOA a fair number of times. Although I have always had good experiences, in recent years, I have seen a decline in the service that is being received. I used to always book with Hannah, but as other reviewers have mentioned, you rarely get serviced on time and Hannah is always so busy she doesn't really pay attention to you when she cuts. As much as I used to love getting my cuts here, I think it's time to move on. read more

Make sure you ask for the price before unless you want them to price discriminate. The male hairdresser charged me $45 (excluding tip) for a haircut. Tip: let lady hairdresser to serve you! Apparently she charges less and looks more experienced read more

Paid 50 bucks for a 5 min haircut. Thought the owner would do a good job from all the good reviews, but man..my hair looks like it was cut by a 5 year old when all I asked for was some layers. read more

I have been here 3times to give it an honest chance and I'm always left disappointed and frustrated. I don't know how u can mess up a simple men's haircut but they do here. The hairstylists kind of do whatever they want. When I ask them why they didn't do what I asked, they get a translator. So essentially you have some nodding along to everything you're saying because they don't understand your English. I also find the talkative lady to be extremely obnoxious. I was waiting in life for 45 minutes and I was being promised to be next. Yet I see other drop-ins go before me. I really just find the people here rude and I always leave with a bad experience and patchy haircut. read more

I came here a while back to dye and cut my hair. I initially found out about H2GOA from Instagram and saw all the lovely balayages and dye jobs Hannah did for her clients. I was able to book an appointment with her through text message which was convenient. Upon meeting Hannah, she is a very nice, bubbly person and has a lot of energy. She is very talkative but will tone it down if you're the quiet type. Onto the service I received, I asked for a haircut, which was probably the only good thing to come out of this trip. It was quick and looked not too bad though I believe it could have been a little more even and less choppy. I specifically asked Hannah for a balayage and showed her some pictures of what I wanted, maybe there was a misunderstanding but I did not receive a balayage at the end. I asked for a more "natural" dye job with SOME blonde and received pretty much my whole head blonde! I also wanted it a very light ash blonde and requested it to not be brassy at all I still received a orange/yellow mess! Nothing came out right for the service I wanted. Hannah had lots of clients and kept rushing back and forth and I felt like she was rushing the service and trying to get me to leave as quick as I can because there were more people after me. I would've asked Hannah to fix my hair but after seeing the mess she did with my hair I couldn't bare to go back and had to go to another salon to fix my hair. Everyone that works there also speaks Korean so I did not understand anything the hairdressers and assistants were saying, they were all speaking frequently to each other which made me feel a little awkward because I had no idea what they were saying. I wanted to give this place a chance because I saw there were some good reviews previously however I'm upset that I decided to come here upon reading all the bad reviews (which I guess is partially my fault). There are also NO prices listed (I did not see any or was not aware of them in the store, but I asked for a quote first to make sure it was going to be the same price range) or no website to check. If you do end up going here make sure you get a quote first or prepare to get random prices thrown at you. Overall I was not happy with the service here. read more

BUYER BEWARE - there is a ripoff artiste extraordinaire at the helm of this salon's ship. They operate on surprise pricing and gouging strategies. There is no set pricing listed anywhere - the owner makes up prices as she pleases so there is no accountability. Get all of your quotes written out for you by the owner before you bother sitting down. After they shampooed my hair, they applied something without informing me of what it was (I naively thought it was some sort of leave in conditioner) which turned out to be some phony-sounding treatment they charged me 100 DOLLARS FOR (wtf?) but you won't know this until the end, when you're settling up and ready to leave. When businesses start to resort to gauging, careless tactics like this, it usually means they're desperate for cash because they're not planning to be in business for much longer, and therefore don't care who they piss off in the process of their demise. Tip: If you do decide to waste your money by going here, make sure you ask your stylist what they are applying to your hair and confirm it is what you want and are willing to pay for BEFORE THEY EVEN TOUCH YOUR SCALP. It's tricky because although they are very nice, almost none of them speak english - another sneaky move by the owner. If the customer doesn't know what's being applied to their hair because their stylist can't communicate it, it is justified that then you, the silly customer, get to pay for that, because it's 'already been applied to your hair'. And trust me, she will try to guilt you on this - don't fall for it. You are not obliged to pay for anything you didn't agree to. It is an upsell that wasn't consented to. Don't fall for this unethical tactic, and give your business to a more professional salon that will respect you and your money. Not worth the 300 dollar surprise I got, and for further insult to financial injury, the person behind the counter even tried to defend it by saying that was with a discount! For that price I could have gone to a higher end salon and received classier service! read more

Hannah was my stylist since 2014. She was my go- to, because she was the only one who knew how to cut my hair right. I've had many bad haircut experiences, and I was scared to let anyone cut my hair, until I found Hannah. The first experience was really good, I really liked my hair and she made sure I was comfortable. However, second time I went back, I didn't know what she was doing to my hair or putting to my hair but my simple bob cut turned into an extensive 300$ hair treatment / cut/ dye, and I asked her how much it was going to cost me, and she kept telling me she'd give me a discount. The end result was pretty decent ( or so I had to tell myself to not get upset about the 300$ ) so I kind of just let it go. After a year or two, I went back again. Big mistake. I had an appointment with Hannah for 5:00pm, and ended up waiting until 730pm for my hair to be cut. I was late for my own birthday dinner reservation (yes, I went to get a haircut on my birthday). She spent about 30 min cutting my hair really fast, didn't apologize or offered me a discount or wtv (given the fact I waited 2.5 hours after the appointment time ON MY BIRTHDAY) after I told her I was late for my dinner reservation. The hair cut was decent when I just walked out of the salon, but the longer I had it the more I wished for it to grow out faster. I'm really disappointed because I was set on Hannah, but after these experiences, it's time to move on. Luckily I was able to find a another stylist at another salon, who will replace Hannah moving forward. read more

I have been here a few times for hair cuts and straight perms. Happy with the results of both. Salon is on the subway line, which makes it easy to get to. Pricing was reasonable but I found that it wasn't at all transparent and varied every time. While there is the option to book an appointment, I noticed that appointment times are generally not honored. I have waited 30+ minutes on multiple occasions for my "appointment" despite showing up on time, while walk-ins were seen ahead of me. As I don't like waiting 30+ minutes for a hair appointment, I chose other salons over this one. read more

I did not have a great experience here & was disturbed by the lack of overall cleanliness at the salon. When I was going to get my hair washed I had to listen to 4 women arguing & yelling in Korean the whole time. This was followed by one of them brushing her teeth right beside me while spiting & rinsing her mouth in the basin directly beside me...where they had just finished washing another customer's hair. I was pretty disgusted. I had gone for a simple dye to cover a small area of grey around my part line. The dye wasn't left on long enough & you can still see the grey. They said my hair was stubborn...& to come back another day. I was then quoted a price $15 higher then what I had paid previously for the exact same job PLUS A CUT. I'm not sure what that is all about... My recommendation is: call ahead to get a quote & hold them to it, be very specific about what you want, and don't expect a relaxing experience. read more

I was recommended to this salon by a friend, who specifically mentioned seeing Hannah. Unfortunately she was fully booked and I went with another stylist. The service was quick and I didn't have to wait despite being a walk-in with no appointment. I got my bangs cut and absolutely love them! The lady did a really good job and despite the language barrier seemed to understand what I wanted. I showed her a few pictures as well. The only thing I didn't like was the head massage while my hair was being washed was far too rough! I had to ask the guy doing it twice to massage more gently. It really hurt! Despite this my experience was overall good! I would go back but maybe skip the massage! read more

Great staff, service and hair know-how! As a non-Korean at a Korean hair salon, everyone was super nice and friendly. I tried the Korean Magic Hair Perm + additional smoothing and it came out SO shiny and straight. It's crazy. My gross frizzy lion's mane has been transformed into beautiful silky Pantene Pro-V looking hair.... this is what I thought Asian people just naturally had and were born with. Owner Hannah is very friendly, kind and professional. All my girlfriends go to her and her staff to get their hair done. - Prices are insane. They told me they start at $200 for long hair CUTS. Since my appointment was for balayage, I paid $340. When I called over the phone and asked for pricing, they said they have to see my hair first. The price made me assume I would be extremely satisfied with my results. This combined with the following points turned my experience at H2GOA into a 2 star... - EXTREMELY LONG WAITING TIME. I was a new client. I got there at 5:30 and waited for an hour to be sat in a chair. I thought I would finally be seen but instead I had to wait another 30 minutes before I was actually seen. My impression is that they are very disorganized time-wise and they alternate between too many customers at once. - It took 4 hours to finish a 2.5 hour job. (5:00 to 9:00) I don't recommend this place if you plan on getting in and out in a hurry! - By the time the chemicals were applied, it was getting closer to closing time. They applied the chemicals slowly on my left side and eventually rushed towards the right and back of my head. This caused uneven highlights. I have yellow-blonde highlights instead of regular blonde. I felt that the process was rushed for me because I am not a reoccurring customer and they wanted to go home. - They said that if I paid debit they would have to charge more... So they asked me to go to the TD down the street to pull out cash. Hannah mentioned a points card at the beginning but after paying $340 plus tip, I was never told given a points card. Maybe she forgot, but I still take it as another reason I didn't like my experience here. I've gotten a balayage before and it only costed $250 for better results and customer service. To top it all off, my hair was even longer at the last time I got it done. I wouldn't go here again for the same procedure. Overall, pricing vs. value and bad time management are the reasons for my 2 star. read more

I've been going to Hannah for many years, I think it's about time that I left a review. x) Hannah is the only hair stylist that I can trust. Going anywhere else is such a gamble but when I come here I know that I'm in good hands. :) One time a perm didn't work on my stubborn hair and she told me to come back to fix it for me. ^^ I've recommended Hannah to a couple friends before and they were also really happy with their hair. read more

My close friend was a faithful customer of Hannah's for the last several years and recommended her to me. I started getting my hair regularly cut and coloured from her about 7 years ago at the old place and have followed her to her new place. I have always been happy. However, last year for the first time ever I got a bad cut from Hannah and I just chalked it up to a bad day for her and kept going to see her and things seemed better again. Another time I waited an hour for my appointment but that didn't bother me as when I felt like I was getting a good cut at the end of it. However, last month I returned and after waiting again (despite having an appointment), got a terrible cut again. She was very rushed and the cut was completely uneven. Also, parts of my hair didn't get coloured evenly. I noticed it as I was leaving the salon but she was busy already with another customer (another person blow-dried my hair) and I was late for work, so I left and I sent her a text. She didn't reply. I mentioned it to my friend who had originally referred me there so many years ago and she said she'd had a similar experience last year and now no longer goes there and she was sad about it because she had been Hannah's client for so many years. Anyway, I am really sad to have to write this review because I have gone to Hannah and Goa and now the second iteration of Goa for so many years and always been happy but the last cut was the final straw for me - I feel like I have given them a few chances to redeem themselves in the hopes of finding what I once had here but it's time for me to move on now. It's sad because I like Hannah and her staff a lot and the prices are reasonable and it's really conveniently located for me. I am sure I could go here again and get a good cut - but it seems like it's hit or miss these days. Perhaps Hannah is just too busy or something is going on with her but the quality of her cut is just not consistently good anymore and ranges from excellent to terrible. read more

I have some advice: Please, please, please do NOT be fooled by their Instagram! I went here twice and going back the second time was a mistake. I was desperate to dye my hair at a cheap salon and H2GOA was one of the first places that came up on Yelp. The first time, I asked Hannah to dye my hair brown (I was going from black to brown) and it took a bit of time. Upon arrival, Hannah acted really nice, as if she was going to take care of me but someone else actually dyed my hair and all she did was check on it. When she did check on my hair to see if it was getting any lighter, she said it was "gross" and I'm 100% sure she meant to say it in Korean (they switch from speaking English to Korean a lot). Hannah is really fake. She acts like you're her top priority but then makes someone else do her work for her! I brushed off this situation and decided to go again (like a fool) and this time, I wanted to go way, way, lighter and I showed Hannah a picture of what I wanted on Instagram and Hannah said she could do it. Being stuck in her ways yet again, Hannah made Jenny do all the work and it did NOT turn out like in the picture I showed her. I don't blame Jenny for any of this because Hannah was the one telling her what to do. Jenny is very sweet and quiet and Hannah takes advantage of that. Jenny gives really good haircuts and I honestly don't know what Hannah is good at because she gives her workload onto others. I'm giving this salon one star and that one star is for Jenny! read more

Went there last Thursday based on great reviews here on yelp, and I'm sad to say that my experience was surprisingly disappointing to say the least. I booked an appointment with Hannah as she seemed to be the most highly recommended, but when I got there, she said something along the lines of my appointment not going through or not being written down in their appointment book even though I called to confirm it about an hour earlier when asking for the shop's location. (also, there are reviews here that say she is fluent in English, this is NOT the case, she handed the phone over to another stylist when I asked for the store's location) In any case, when I got there, she said that my appointment was not made and introduced me to another stylist and promised "she will be amazing and just as good". When I asked her if she has any openings tomorrow instead, her exact response was "I don't know".. (?!! she didn't even check her schedule to see if she has any openings). But against my better judgment, I decided to give the other stylist a try and showed her several pictures on my smartphone of how I wanted my hair done and described to her how I wanted it to be trimmed (my hair is about shoulder length, and I wanted it to be trimmed in the back so that it is slightly longer in the front). About 12 minutes later, I was left with a hair cut that left my boyfriend wondering if my hair had been cut at all. I'm not sure exactly what she did but my hair ended up looking exactly the way it did before and about exactly the opposite of what I had requested. I still left the stylist the customary $5 tip as she was not the stylist I originally made the appointment with and left the shop vowing never to come back. I'm not sure why my experience here was so bad that day but it seems like the positive reviews here are from people who either know Hanna well or have been going to her/shop for quite some time. So imho, go to h2goa at your own risk if you've never been there! read more

It's my third time getting a perm and this has got to be the worst experience I had with a hair salon. Firstly my hair cut was less than 30 seconds by Hannah and I was then rushed to prep my hair. I waited for a good 10 minutes until someone realized i hadn't been helped. Preceding this, three-four stylists helped me perm, wash and blow dry and at times I was left unattended. The results of the perm looked good when I left the salon but slowly after thirty minutes the curls fell out on the one side and was completely straight. I went back the next day and was given the right treatment and perm that they had promised while arguing with me the entire time. I had perms in Asia as well as in Toronto and the service I received was extremely unprofessional and rushed. Strongly recommend going somewhere else for perms. read more
