Some of the walkways are dirt/gravel, peeling travertine, there are stairs and slightly uphill in some areas so elderly or anyone with mobility issues might have some challenges. There is a beautiful home you can walk through and regular "talks"/tours where you can learn more. There is a restaurant on site, "Quail Cafe", that serves salads, sandwiches, desserts, coffee and more. The food was pre-prepped but the salad was fresh and good. There is a nursery on grounds with good prices on flowers and shrubs. The entrance fee was $45/person (kids are free) but it was reasonable given the upkeep and tours provided. I would say a must see between the historical aspect and natural beauty.

Flowers were abloom this summer afternoon in late June. The lavender herb bushes were oozing fragrance with the wind, the dahlias were on full display and the lilies were blossoming. Our first was during the fall. Not a lot of blooms but the autumn colors and the holiday decor were a sight to remember. We usually spend a good 3 hours here. Taking in the scenery and snapping a lot of photos. Though patrons come here for the garden, the mansion itself was a mini-castle worthy of a visit. I compare it to the likes of the the Hearst Castle and European palaces with a vast array of art and antiquities from allover the world. This place is very well maintained. It is easily one of the best maintained Historic Buildings and Gardens I have visited.

We ordered extra inspections, shifted requirements more than once, and after closing needed plenty of help with contractors. Adam and Colton (and their other staff) were knowledgeable, hardworking and responsive throughout. Perhaps more important, they were truly looking out for our interests. On a couple occasions they were willing to walk away from placing offers on properties that would not have been a good match even after they had put in significant work on researching those properties. Ultimately, we were able to buy a property at a price we considered something of a bay area value when Adam played our cards just right with a motivated seller in an iffy market.

Jeff's incredible pictures speak for themselves, so I'll do my best to cover what it was like working with Jeff below: Initial Meeting * Jeff was easy to coordinate with and responded very promptly to all emails setting up a meeting * He brought his portfolio, walked us through his packages, and helped us create a package that was exactly what we wanted * He was funny, nice, and someone we immediately clicked with. My sister's piece of wedding advice to me was to pick a photographer and videographer you will enjoy spending the day with, because much of your wedding day is actually spent with these vendors! Engagement Photos * Jeff pre-scouted the area that we wanted to do our engagement photos at, so he knew exactly where we should stand to get the best lighting and angles. Because of this, we saved so much time and were able to get in more locations. * Jeff was thoughtful, creative, and encouraging through the entire process. While we might have been awkward in the first few shots, Jeff quickly put us at ease. * The pictures turned out amazing. We even used one of them for our cake topper! Wedding * Jeff did an amazing job setting up for and capturing the wedding. Memorial church has a lot of restrictions, and Jeff was able to work within all of them to capture every detail of the ceremony. * The quality of the photos is great--lighting, resolution, etc. * Jeff always went the extra mile, whether it was getting me some water when I was thirsty or helping me find people I was looking for. * After the wedding, Jeff was very quick in getting our photos to us, and in communicating about them! I should also note that Jeff has a really special network of people that he works with. We found our videographer and my makeup/hair artist through Jeff, and were very happy with both. I would highly recommend Jeff as a wedding photographer! Get him now before his prices go up!

He was also very attentive to small details and showed great foresight in helping us hash out details for the wedding far in advance, making sure our timelines and plans were realistic. But Jeff is far from just being an effective paper-pusher. Eunice and I have never done a photo shoot in our lives, but he was able to make us feel comfortable and really draw out our silly personalities through the shoots. We've had friends complain that their photographers just churned out portrait after portrait without any variation, but we were blown away by the creative poses and angles Jeff had set up for us. Lastly, I wanted to point out Jeff's willingness to go the extra mile for you. We had our wedding reception at the Lawrence Hall of Science, where they were featuring exhibits of giant robotic bugs. Due to some extenuating circumstances, we were running fairly late in our schedule, and decided to abandon several of our shots, including many of the exhibit photos. As the night was winding down, Jeff pulled us aside for some last minute photos; he had talked to the Lawrence Hall coordinator to reactivate the lights and exhibits just to help us take one last set of memorable shots with the bugs. It was a touching gesture that I truly appreciated. tl;dr, Jeff is a professional, creative, and accommodating photographer who will capture your event with style.

His communication was clear and responsive, and he was very patient with me no matter how many emails it took! On the day of, I was nervous if things were going to fall into place, but Annie, our photographer, shared her location with me and arrived early in just the spot I wanted. She was also wonderful to work with--her photography and editing skills are great and even though we never really posed for photos before, she made it easy for us. She even had the presence of mind to turn us away from family members who were coming from behind to surprise us. We received a few photos the night of the proposal to share with friends and then the rest of the photos after a quick turnaround. We were very happy with how they turned out and appreciative of Annie's great work!

They were the first vendor we booked after securing our venue, so we got to know them over the course of the year leading up to our wedding in August 2025. After coming across their photos when researching different potential photographers that had experience at our venue, we were very interested in meeting them. We had an initial video call with them and knew immediately that we wanted to book them for such a critical part of our wedding journey. There aren't enough words to describe how skilled and professional they are--they are amazing photographers (individually and as a duo) and clearly love what they do. Our proposal photoshoot was the only prior experience we had in terms of taking professional photos as a couple. We met them in person for the first time at our engagement photoshoot--they immediately made us feel comfortable and were seriously thoughtful about the entire process, whether it was the location choices, minute-by-minute weather changes/forecast, outfit changes, etc. It really feels like they plan for everything and care about the little details. When we asked them about another vendor they would potentially work with on the day of our wedding, they even referenced notes they made when they had worked with them for a prior wedding. Throughout the whole process, they were prompt communicators (frequently responding to an email within minutes!) and guided us with experience and patience that we really appreciated. Whenever we had something to discuss with them (including choices we needed to make as a couple), they never hesitated to give us suggestions and feedback. Even if they offered an alternative suggestion to an idea of ours, it always felt like they genuinely cared and they wanted what we wanted, and it never felt like criticism. We received our wedding photos just about 2 months after our wedding, and we love every single one of them (all 667)! They are truly the best photographers to work with and just lovely people to be around. We definitely plan to keep in touch with them for future photoshoots! :) TL;DR: You should have booked A Tale Ahead Photography yesterday!!

Graham (Final Frame) was the perfect fit! He is very professional and readily available for any questions, etc. He has a quicker turnaround for the video which is a bonus, and I really liked that his presence was very subtle (doesn't feel like you're on a movie set with a ton of bulky equipment). He edited a wonderful video (documentary edit), and I feel like I really get to relive the wedding day, and I love that I get to re-watch all the speeches/special moments of us with our friends and family. Graham is very responsive and easy to work with. The day of our June 2021 wedding, Graham showed up on time and got right to work. You hardly even know he's there, which is exactly what we wanted from a videographer. He films "documentary style" and gets all the parts of the day that are such a blur to the bride and groom. My favorite thing about his style is the interviews he does with the bride and groom separately and the interviews he does with guests. It's such a nice touch that makes watching the video even more special. Graham is so affordable given the INCREDIBLE work that he does. I can't believe some people don't get a videographer for their wedding as it was such a special experience to rewatch our day through the eyes of our guests. My sister used Graham a few years ago, and I will be recommending Graham to every future bride and groom. His work is stunning, he doesn't interfere or get in the way, and he adds special touches that make the video even more fun to watch. Thank you so much Graham!!
