We dropped by H K Market, in Greenbrae, in Sparks because my brother-in-law and niece wanted to get some food from Wings next door. I've only been in this store a handful of times, and I only pick up an item or two. During this visit, I found a couple of flavors of Milkis that I haven't tried yet, so naturally I had get those and I happened upon an individual serving of mild-flavored Jin ramen featuring WWH BTS' Seokjin, so of course I had to get one of those too. There were some other interesting items in the store I wanted to try but maybe we'll come back in next time we're in the neighborhood. read more

We needed sweet chili sauce for our lumpia and we're were in Sparks. Found HK Market on Yelp and stopped by. The store is very tidy and the lady that checked us out was very friendly, inquiring if we found what we were looking for. Sparks Asian Supermarket tour 3 out of 4. Another Asian supermarket that is Korean focused. Quality/Quantity - Business looks very clean and organized, thank you. Frozen sliced meats for hot pot. All the Korean snacks that my wife eats are sold here, see picture. They have reasonable prices. Good selection of frozen foods, see picture. Very limited produce department. But all the main favorites are here. Small Korean side dish selection. And of course kim chi - probably homemade. Atmosphere - Small locally owned Asian/Korean supermarket. Open 6 days a week from 9:00am to 7:30pm, closed Sundays (Yelp has different posted hours). Service - Lovely couple working, I believe the owner's son. They are working while their parents are vacationing in Korea. Very nice and friendly. Price - Comparable to the other 3 Asian supermarkets. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1993. A more smaller Asian market with perhaps all the essentials. Look around the corners and behind the counters as they have sundries and other items there. Friendly cashier. Located in a strip mall. No prepared foods. Go next door to Hana for a great Korean meal. read more

I can't wait to make the KFC.. not Kernel Sanders .. but Korean fried chicken..with the Korean fried chicken mix.. I needed to get some red Korean pepper flakes for my kim chi receipe and my go-to market was out of the flakes. This place was the 3rd place I tried and I am glad I found it. It is in a small strip mall on Greenbrae, between El Rancho and Sullivan. When I walked in, I initially thought it was very small but it has a lot and the store is very clean and organized. I was greeted with a smile and a warm hello from the owners. I found what I was looking for right away but I spent a little time walking around. Their fresh produce section is small but the prices are competitive with other similar stores in the area. I try very hard to support small and local businesses in my area so I will be back when I need more Asian supplies. read more

This was the first Korean Market I had ever been to. It's located right next door to the restaurant Hana Garden and back in high school we would drop in to stock up on Korean snacks. While it is quite small, they do have a lot of things at very affordable prices. They have a lot of the standard items like Kewpie mayo, sauces, oils, vinegars, ramen and curry to name a few. Their items do tend to lean more Korean so you are likely to be able to find more specific items like Korean spam or a particular oil. They have a lot of popular freezer items that I haven't seen elsewhere like Buldak spicy and carbonara rice, mozzarella katsu, or cheese balls but these items do not seem to be consistently available. They also have things like kimchi both freshly made and packaged, shabu/KBBQ meat, and soup bases. Overall, it's a very cute shop that is smaller but more specialized than other Asian markets in town. Do check it out! read more

I shop here almost bi weekly to replenish parts of my groceries. They are MAINLY a Korean grocery store, the owner is also Korean, and she's lovely and polite. But the store also offers SOME Chinese, Japanese,Vietnamese condiments. My favorite sections about this store is the side dishes fridge and the frozen food section. I grab tons of side dishes here every time I shop here. They have tons of frozen korean foods like Kimchi dumplings, kimchi stew in a bag, soup in a bag, rice cakes, fishes, seafoods etc., u get the point. It saves time when cooking breakfast( I'm Asian and I refuse and cannot eat cold breakfast like milk and cereal. I want my breakfast to be hearty and steamy filled with carb and protein. And about 1000000mg of sodium too. LOL) They also have tons of korean stuff like Ginseng gel, Ginseng drinks, rice beverages, coffee, ice creams. Def love this place. read more

Located in older Sparks inside the Sierra Center strip mall is this quaint and friendly Korean Market. This strip mall has seen better days. This shop is owned by a kind and friendly couple. They are super helpful and will answer any questions you may have. The shop is small but clean. I think there is a large variety of items on the shelves. Not sure if they had any items that were in English. I was looking for Umeboshi and they had something similar from China not Japan. I wasn't really paying attention to what was on the shelves. I do know there was sesame oil, rice wine, rice wine vinegar and other items that I have purchased at other Asian Markets. They have rice flour, and large bags of rice. They have cold and frozen items as well. There is a small area where they sell other items from Korea, China and Japan such as dish soap, laundry detergent, kitchen tools to help with cooking. There was a small array of chopsticks. and Senbei (rice crackers), candy etc. The owners were so kind to me they were teaching me Korean. I laughingly joked that if I made a return purchase they would teach me Korean. They laughed and said sure. On the plus side I met one of their delivery guys who spoke Hmong and was from Laos. He taught me how to say hello in Laos just wish I could remember. read more

Hidden gem, the kimchi is delicious! Love all the meat options and they have really yummy drinks to pick from.

So clean and organized! The owner is so nice walking us to what we needed and suggesting items. I know the cost of things are pricey but we got what we needed. We wish we made our grocery stop here before other places. The butane pack is the best deal in town. I also liked the variety of broth choices. We purchased a seafood broth, and it does no make the house reek of anchovies. It's a sachet of kelp, fish, shellfish, even crab leg, and spices. Located in the shopping plaza next to Hana Garden, H K Market is a one-stop shop for exotic Asian ingredients, and items unique to Asian specialty stores! From house-made, delicious kimchi to high quality meats for Shabu Shabu and Korean BBQ: this market offers it all! The market staff welcomed us into their store with smiling faces, and were incredibly helpful. They were ready to answer any questions we had, and gave us the warmest goodbyes as we left with our goods! I stopped in just now, I left my phone in the car, I couldn't find it on yelp, make sure to space the H and the K. It's hidden and small, and off the beaten path for sure! You'll see if you ever go to Hana Garden (korean restaurant). First impression, is CLEAN! Smaller selection that the other asian markets I've been to in Reno, but this will be my first stop from now on. Not really anything in english, I think the ladies would be nice and help you though, without too much judgement. I couldn't find any crystal shrimp or ebi or tuna for sushi. I think I found some salmon, but not sure if sushi grade. Small selection of fresh produce, most of it in door refrigerator units, instead of an open case. But the kani kami, osaki brand (the best), is only $9.99 here, its $3 cheaper than anywhere else in town. Since it is Korean owned, more Korean items, I plan to start tackling some of those dishes next, in my home kitchen... Jap Chae I'm looking at you! Basically, this place, is just so clean, not dusty or spiders on things (Yes, I've seen spiders on the items in the aisles at other markets). Another little grocery store to find Korean basic food ingredients or basic Korean food ingredients. You know what I mean. They don't have as much as Yim's, but still good! Ordered chop chae on a Thursday for a Saturday party. I paid $30 for a 1/2 size foil pan. They said as long as you have other foods on the table, it would be good for about 30 people. It's about right. Anyhoo, everyone loved it! Heck yeah, I would definitely order from them again! (They also do orders for bugolgi and kalbi but they couldn't quite give me the price because I guess the person who does the pricing wasn't there.) P.S. If you want to ask about something, you'd have to ask the kids there. The older folks can't always understand what you're saying. Or maybe they just can't understand me. read more
