This place gives me mixed feelings. They have a good selection of fresh produce, lots of frozen options and much much more from ramen to snacks and drinks. They also have hot foods, like fried fish and Vietnamese sandwiches brought up from California, which is wonderful. The issue is I had bought a bag of beef jerky from here and after coming home and eating the jerky, I looked at the expiration date. IT HAD EXPIRED FOR OVER A YEAR AND A HALF. Another time, I had bought one of the "fresh" sandwiches. Went home and started eating it, and the cucumber was SPOILED because it had the weirdest texture and taste. Things here can come as a hit or miss. Just check the expiration dates, ask the staff when the "fresh" goods were picked up, and you should be fine. read more

We dropped by the Asia Market. located a few blocks away from Victorian Square, in Sparks, in search for an ingredient I needed for my cooking, and although I didn't find the ingredient, I did pick up a couple of cans of coconut cream, a six-pack of taro-flavored milk and an instant pack of porridge (or goto). The prices were a little higher than in the other Asian stores I regularly shopped at but I marveled at how this store's fresh seafood and vegetable section was so clean and well-organized plus their inventory looked really fresh. I've been wanting to leave a review for Asia Market for awhile now. I do a lot of my grocery shopping here especially when it comes to Asian spices, snacks, and vegetables. My husband believes they have the freshest Asian veggies and we also enjoy their premade foods located in the front when you enter. Every time we come, I get the spring rolls. They're made fresh and thick. At 8 months pregnant, I visited just for the spring rolls and they were all out. The young guy apologized and then offered if I wanted him to make more. Yes yes yes!!! They have their own little parking lot so finding parking shouldn't be a problem. It's smaller compared to Yim's or 168, but if you're in the area, it's worth a spot to look around just to check out their Vietnamese desserts :P Everything was priced similarly to all the other Asian markets in the Reno/Sparks area, so if you need some something you can only find at these markets, then this place will do. They have some unique snacks and items, but as most of these Asian markets, the aisles feel cluttered and the entire store is on the dirtier side... but I grew up frequenting San Francisco's Chinatown so it's pretty much the norm for these type of stores lol They have minimal options in their hot food section. I was really excited to go to Asia Market since I'm from Vegas and I don't see many Asian grocery stores here but I was beyond impressed! They had so many options and great selections for all kinds of dishes , I love Korean , Japanese and Chinese cuisine so I was happy that they had many produce from these places! The employees were nice telling me where certain things were and I just felt like I was in a traditional Asian market! This is a small grocer but it is full of unique finds. Their fresh takeaway food options looked really good but I arrived after a big meal - next time I will come hungry! They have many different kinds of fresh and pre-packaged Vietnamese specialty items as well as fresh fish and other seafood on ice. There was ample parking in their private parking lot and the owners/employees were helpful. It's nice to know there's an Asian grocery store here so you don't have to drive all the way to CA to get what you need in a pinch. read more

If you are looking for food to prepare for the Lunar New Year - Tet, this is the place to go in Reno. I was very shocked at how much Viet food they had stocked and the good brands. They even have a deli and prepared food if you don't have time to cook or want to cut down on preparation time. The owners are awesome and so helpful. Would not recommend anyone trying to stock up on their asian ingredients from this place. The owner is price gouging majority of their products/ingredients and price always seem to go up by $0.50 every 3+ months or so. Ask any asian if fish sauce should cost $12.99 and I'll guarantee you they'll say WTF! "Thats so expensive" and fish sauce is always in the pantries of a south east asian family home. $7.99 for black pepper only goes to show you that this place is robbing you. Since Northern Nevada seems to lack the Asian supermarkets you would find in places like SF, LA, LV etc., I am always on the hunt for stores like these. It is located on Prater Way, west of Rock Boulevard. There is a small parking lot with most of the stalls on the west side of the building. When I entered, I noticed right away the merchandise is primarily for Vietnamese cuisine, but I found a few other Asian type groceries such as kim chi, Thai curry paste, and pansit noodles. I did find something I have not seen elsewhere in the frozen section and that was frog legs! Might have to go back and get some. Iit was a little early in the day when I went there so the hot food line was up and running yet. The staff working there spoke Vietnamese to each other and most of the patrons, but it did not take away from their friendliness. They all were smiling and helpful to the questions I had. I wish I could say curiosity drove me to stop into this little market but that's not the case. My wife saw a recipe for vegan BBQ Jackfruit that is supposed to taste so much like meat you wouldn't miss it. She remembered seeing canned jackfruit at this store so.... the request goes straight to the top of the Honey-Do list and off I go! I like to try new things and experience different cultures so this was my cultural adventure for the week. When I got to the store I was pleasantly surprised to see the store was clean and well organized. The staff not only spoke very good English, they were friendly and engaging. I didn't feel like a total stranger just because I didn't speak their language. More importantly, the prices are very good compared to other Asian markets that I've been to. I love to see the different products that are popular in other cultures and this little market did not disappoint. I was completely enthralled by the variety of different drinks that they had in their refrigerated section. I will definitely be back to explore some of those. One thing to note, the store was very cold and everyone was wearing a coat so bring one if you come. read more

My new favorite Asian store! They have everything Asian you could possibly need. There's a selection of fresh veggies, a display case with a wide variety of fish along with frozen fish. There is also a prepared food section. Really reasonable prices too. I come here at least once a week to do some shopping. Not to mention the workers are always so happy and helpful! read more

Everyone is super friendly and helpful! They really care about customer service and I feel very comfortable asking for help when I need it. They have a lot of delicious house-made food. The banh cuon is still my favorite (steamed rice batter filled with ground pork and topped with onions, cilantro and Vietnamese fish sauce). The filling is very flavorful and the rice noodles are nice and thin. The nc chm is sweet with a nice kick of spice. There's a good selection of frozen fish and fresh veggies. They have a lot of Filipino food, and the prices are very good! They've moved the cash register since I've last been in, and it's much more open at the entrance. This might be my favorite Asian market in town, because of their excellent service and nice selection. read more

We have been searching throughout Reno and Sparks for a particular brand of ramen noodles: MaMa. In California (Sacramento), you could find them in some Targets, Wal-Marts, and local supermarkets but no such luck here. We tried everything from Old Northwest Reno to the Cost Plus World Market near Sun Valley to various Targets and Wal-Marts. Finally, we asked the clerk at the Cost Plus for some suggestions and explained that we were looking for a particular brand of Thai ramen and he suggested this store. We were pleased to find our coveted MaMa Ramen and a variety of supplies (wasabi, sesame and chili oil) as well as Boss Iced Coffee Drinks from Japan. It's an old building but clean and easy to navigate wider aisles, and the owner/cashier was extremely friendly. It was easy for my wife to shop and the only thing stopping us from giving it five stars is they only had nine packages of ramen on the shelf. We will happily come back to see if we can buy them in bulk next time! read more

I love this store because I can get all my favorite Korean stuff there. its quiet and peaceful no ones ever mean to me there not only are the workers very nice but so are the customers. it smells amazing because they also cook fresh food and its always clean. Close to where I live, has all the herbs I need for spring rolls, and they have a dining area. I believe they said they get their shipment on every Wednesday or Thursday (I could be wrong, I do have horrible memory). This place has all the basic things I need for pho and spring rolls. I do remember calling once when I first move here to see if they carried Thai chili, the person that answered the phone was very nice and helpful. The parking lot is a pain but it's never filled up. This place I have been going to for years and years. I love this Asian store now with more variety. Now they have a restaurant inside thearket. Also for all you helpers that didn't know you can eat and do your shopping menu varies from pho soups, vermicelli noodle bowls, spring rolls, ect. I got the duck noodle soup, first look of it delicious, first bite delicious, every aspect of the soup has flavor the noodles, vegetables, duck. I added wontons. There is a really nice asian store on Rock that is the opposite of this place. my advice would be to go there. I'll never step foot in this stinky asian market on prater again. my caveat-- this was a long time ago. it might be better now, the from the outside, the store looks unchanged. 2016- Ammendment: this store is under new ownership and is significantly better than it used to be. I came here on my lunch break this week, being an idiot thinking it was Yim's... I've never looked long enough at the map to look past anything other than Sparks and around prater/rock area. As soon as you walk in, the smell is pretty potent. They look like they have or had a food area with the hot holding display case etc. Not sure if that is something they do at all or its long gone. Looked like its not currently in use. I browsed the store, the frozen section has everything in Chinese (I'm assuming, and not sure which dialect obviously) and was sparsely full. I found imitation crab, but it was a brand I've not seen and small packages. They have a large fridge area of sodas and drinks too. Continued on and see they have like a butcher block area that presumabley would hold fish and other meats, again, it was hardly in use. Some fish were frozen, some were thawed and it smelled bad. I didn't even go by the produce area. Grabbed a bottle of hoisin sauce for my homemade spring rolls back at the office and left. The cashier was nice though, and is probably from here, didn't detect an accent at all. As I was pulling out I was fairly disappointed thinking it was Yim's, came back to the office to write a review and saw I wasn't, in fact, at Yim's. My point is, there are far, far, FAR better Asian markets in town, I will not be back to this one. read more

This is a pretty good little store. They have some fresh hot food items by the front I've never tried though seems to be Filipino. They carry a lot the stores not particularly clean ie smells of fish and dust, but that doesn't take away from its 'charm' just adds to it I guess in some sort of sickly 1st world way. I think they have a good price on Shrimp Chips. Some hard to find items. The vegetables are cheap small selection though. Also some surprise items in coolers. I found a very cheap package of already seasoned Unagi and some good priced Calamari pieces. Spring rolls too of course but way cheaper then anywhere else. I like this store. It has a very almost inhabited feel like the owners live there but they don't. It's a little hard to find. Don't miss it its pretty small you can park on either side though. read more

Been coming here for years. The new owners have transformed the place. Its awesome , clean and a lot more variety. The little restaurant is awesome too. I had the roast duck noodle soup and my daughter had the deluxe pho...flavor and portions were spot on and the crispy eggrolls were delicious. We stopped here while visiting Sparks and was very impressed with this store, especially with the selection of fresh fish. Also, we were surprised to see that they also sold hot cooked food as well. After shopping around town at some other Asian supermarkets, I realized something I take for granted. An Asian Market with Asian Workers that speaks English with no accents but also knows their products. I'm being dead serious. Think about it. Have you ever walked into an Asian supermarket and thought to yourself... where shall I begin? You googled your recipe and you take a gander at your ingredient list and you look like a deer staring into oncoming headlights. Well I'm Chinese and Vietnamese and with some ingredients with only "Asian" names, I find it comforting that I can ask the employees here for help. Not only they know what I'm looking for but I can understand them. No longer do I need to bust out google translate or have to listen to the employee who works in America tell me they don't speak English. I actually find that offensive. I personally enjoy the fact I can go find Asian ingredients and product with someone who speaks English. read more
