5/20/22 Hot Deli, very limited items, selection today
Lee D.

Sparks Asian Supermarket tour 4 out of 4. Asian supermarket that is Vietnamese/Chinese focused. Quality/Quantity - Okay. Atmosphere - Only 4 hot items at the deli today. Ready to-go Vietnamese snacks, see picture. Produce department. Meat and seafood department. Good size frozen department. Plenty of parking. Open 7 days a week. Service - Okay, you need to do a better job labeling the front door. Price - Comparable to the other 3 Asian Sparks supermarkets. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1985, can I suggest a website?

They sold noodles that expired a year ago. Moldy noodles

Small Asian market. Not too many things here for Japanese cuisine. I bought a pack of cold Chinese noodles from the fridge, but when I opened it up it was moldy. Checked the date and it expired a year ago... Wow. I suggest you check everything here before consuming.

They have their own little parking lot so finding parking shouldn't be a problem. It's smaller compared to Yim's or 168, but if you're in the area, it's worth a spot to look around just to check out their Vietnamese desserts :P Everything was priced similarly to all the other Asian markets in the Reno/Sparks area, so if you need some something you can only find at these markets, then this place will do. They have some unique snacks and items, but as most of these Asian markets, the aisles feel cluttered and the entire store is on the dirtier side... but I grew up frequenting San Francisco's Chinatown so it's pretty much the norm for these type of stores lol They have minimal options in their hot food section. I left with some noodles, snacks, and the pandan soybean pudding (YUMMMMM!!!) Will definitely come back just for the pudding :)

Thai basil in the back, papaya and dried shrimp. Mmmm, ready to make some Thai papaya salad.

If you are looking for food to prepare for the Lunar New Year - Tet, this is the place to go in Reno. I was very shocked at how much Viet food they had stocked and the good brands. They even have a deli and prepared food if you don't have time to cook or want to cut down on preparation time. The owners are awesome and so helpful. The prices are higher than in Sacramento, but it is worth it when you need to grab things without making a huge trip to the Asian Supermarkets in Sac.

ALL THE BOBA

Great great great service and variety of products I went with. A huge boba craving and inspiration to try and make my own. They had everything from ready made tea ajd pearls to the supplies needed to make your own. Their produce and seafood looked fantastic and we will be trying it out definitely! They have their own parking lot off the street The owner picked up the phone and answered my questions and was also at the store with a huge smile Greeting everyone

A lot of hard to find items! Anytime I try to make my own stir frys or egg rolls I stop in here and go sauce , noodle, and sweets shopping! There's so much to try. They also have hot food for those that don't like to cook as much as I do!

$7.99 for this small black pepper. RIDICULOUS! dont believe me go check it out for yourself.

Would not recommend anyone trying to stock up on their asian ingredients from this place. The owner is price gouging majority of their products/ingredients and price always seem to go up by $0.50 every 3+ months or so. Ask any asian if fish sauce should cost $12.99 and I'll guarantee you they'll say WTF! "Thats so expensive" and fish sauce is always in the pantries of a south east asian family home. $7.99 for black pepper only goes to show you that this place is robbing you. This place is just RIDICULOUS now.

I wish I could say curiosity drove me to stop into this little market but that's not the case. My wife saw a recipe for vegan BBQ Jackfruit that is supposed to taste so much like meat you wouldn't miss it. She remembered seeing canned jackfruit at this store so.... the request goes straight to the top of the Honey-Do list and off I go! I like to try new things and experience different cultures so this was my cultural adventure for the week. When I got to the store I was pleasantly surprised to see the store was clean and well organized. The staff not only spoke very good English, they were friendly and engaging. I didn't feel like a total stranger just because I didn't speak their language. More importantly, the prices are very good compared to other Asian markets that I've been to. I love to see the different products that are popular in other cultures and this little market did not disappoint. I was completely enthralled by the variety of different drinks that they had in their refrigerated section. I will definitely be back to explore some of those. One thing to note, the store was very cold and everyone was wearing a coat so bring one if you come.

Everyone is super friendly and helpful! They really care about customer service and I feel very comfortable asking for help when I need it. They have a lot of delicious house-made food. The banh cuon is still my favorite (steamed rice batter filled with ground pork and topped with onions, cilantro and Vietnamese fish sauce). The filling is very flavorful and the rice noodles are nice and thin. The nc chm is sweet with a nice kick of spice. There's a good selection of frozen fish and fresh veggies. They have a lot of Filipino food, and the prices are very good! They've moved the cash register since I've last been in, and it's much more open at the entrance. This might be my favorite Asian market in town, because of their excellent service and nice selection.

All these for over $50. I left from the Store with a whiplashed. I thought I bought a gold. Not going back there.

Everything here is over priced and they sell fruits that should have been thrown away already. Ok

a snack i always get there

I love this store because I can get all my favorite Korean stuff there. its quiet and peaceful no ones ever mean to me there not only are the workers very nice but so are the customers. it smells amazing because they also cook fresh food and its always clean. I like how the oldest cashier always smiles. i just go there sometimes to walk around and buy random stuff to make when I'm sad and miss Korea because its the closest thing i can do to feel like I'm in Korea again they have all Asian foods though not just Korean. The staff here is extremely welcoming and helpful, last time someone asked us what we were making and shared all of his personal tips to make the dish better. This was totally awesome and led to a kick ASS meal back at home, pork belly adobo.... I'll always keep coming back here, it's super clean and has great prices. Too bad last time the kitchen wasn't open, I would love to try it out one of these days.

I was actually pleasantly surprised with all the different stuff they have here for your Filipino comfort foods. I could not hold back on certain items because I knew I wouldn't be able to get them unless I drove 2 hours to Sac for seafood city. Pricing wise , I really can't tell as I do not go to Seafood city much, but I personally think the pricing here is decent especially with everything they have on inventory. It is pretty clean , organized , and easy to navigate certain sections. I also like that the restaurant is right next door if you are hungry and want to grab a meal. However I do think their selection is pretty limited with the basic: sinigang ang baboy and Longinisa with garlic fried rice. Also keep in mind if you are getting the sinigang it is about $17. Like I said, probably the closest store you will get to a seafood city and pretty well stocked of items. I do recommend checking this one out .

I found myself out and about with just my son and and we both thought a char grilled kebab sounded like a fun dinner experiment. We popped in and found who were guessing is the owner's child at the register and placed our order for their signature kebab made from ground chicken and Afghani spices. The plate came with sumac spiked basmati rice, two pieces of the chicken kebab and a small green salad plus a green hot sauce. The kebab was tender and juicy with a great flavor profile and a nice bit of charcoal flavor. We thought the rice was actually exceptional light and fluffy with a hint of that citrus sea tang from the sumac, in a buttery finish, made this a nice light side to the kebab. The salad was fresh and crunchy with cucumber, lettuce, and bell peppers and that green hot sauce was really great and we used it as a dressing because the salad did not come with one. For $16 I just felt like the value was a bit often the plate needed at least one more piece of the kebab because when finished with a small tiny salad and the kebab, we were left with a mountain of rice and that is south wasteful. I just wish the plates here were a bit more valued oriented and I guess it will take more people eating here to kind of drive that up. Highly recommend giving it a try plus the market has some really fun fines too. Share your review and let me know what you think.
