What Sea Cocoon offers is a comfortable, centrally located hotel with friendly staff, helpful recommendations, a great breakfast, and a wonderful view of the bay. Our room was clean, the air conditioning kept the room at a comfortable temperature, the front desk was able to order tricycle rides a bit cheaper than we could find on the street by ourselves, was able to direct us to the locations we wanted to visit, and had several connections within town. Each floor also had a water dispenser so you could fill up your travel bottle with water without having to rely on tap water. Outside of the hotel was a spot with an air compressor so you can remove sand from your shoes and sandals. Each room also has plenty of shelf space and a rack to hang things so you can pull all your clothes and gear out of your luggage and have everything easily accessible. I was in a more upscale hotel in Manila that didn't have all the great organization space Sea Cocoon offered. The facilities did look a little old, but the staff kept them clean. The elevator had a glitch where it didn't stop level at the floor you were exiting, but it was manageable. The sewer system in El Nido does smell, but the sink has a stopper in it; so long as you remember to use the stopper after using the sink, you won't get a smelly bathroom. I would absolutely stay at the Sea Cocoon the next time I visit El Nido.

However this hotel has a no refund policy, so here's a fair warning to any potential future traveller: Cons - There was a moldy smell during our entire stay. The first day we checked in there was a strong vinegar smell but that dissipated in a day, but the moldy smell persisted. That can't possibly be healthy to breathe in. The room is very humid, even more humid than outside. Mind you there hasn't been any rain in the past week so it wasn't humid because of a recent thunderstorm - The AC unit points down directly at the desk and bed and there was no way to change the direction. Hence the cold air was always blasting on my face when I'm sleeping. I wake up 6 times every day because of that - The sheet felt like a solid layer of humidity. I'm not sure if it's the material or how they wash it, but when I have it on me my skin feels very uncomfortable. That also keeps me up at night because the AC is too cold so I need the sheet on but that makes me feel very humid. I couldn't turn off the AC because then the room gets way too hot and humid - The WiFi is very unstable. Front desk said the typhoon from last December affected the whole island so WiFi is unstable on the entire island, but the WiFi is actually very fast and reliable in the hotel I just checked into - Not so much of a con, but they charge extra for beach towel rentals and there's no drinking water refill except for the first day you check in. I've stayed at many beach/island hotels and all of them had free beach towel rental and free water refill We originally booked 5 nights on Agoda but decided to extend 2 nights prior to check in. They suggested we pay in cash for a discount. We ended up staying only 3 nights because I have been inhaling moldy air and not been able to sleep properly for 3 days straight. I've brought up my concerns with front desk and they told me they have a no refund policy. I've had many bookings in 3 star hotels on tropical islands, so I'm well aware of the limitations of those hotels. However, Sea Cocoon is the only one that I felt like I had to leave because it was affecting my health.

The water here is filtered and safe. Highly recommended. They discourage tipping, but if you insist, they centralize the tipping. They make sure you don't miss your flight back. Awesome!

Every team member I've encountered has been professional, warm, and attentive. Their genuine care for guests is the standout feature of this property. Regarding the rooms, I've experienced two very different views. My first room featured a breathtaking look at the limestone cliffs, which was a highlight of my trip. Other days in another room, however, overlooks a residential area with visible, modest living conditions. The contrast between these two experiences was significant. While I understand the hotel cannot control its surroundings, providing more transparency about room types during the booking process--or when arranging a room change--would greatly help manage guest expectations. A quick tip for future travelers: The local wildlife is very active! I highly recommend bringing earplugs or noise-canceling headphones, as the neighborhood roosters begin crowing around 1:00 am. Additionally, I noticed some stained/mold issues in my current and previous bathroom that may need attention. I'm sharing this feedback constructively, as the service here truly deserves to shine.

They said that if they could book our room for that night, we wouldn't have to pay. We arrived early in the morning, and they said they had booked our room. So, we spent the entire morning waiting in the lobby, exhausted but were ok since we weren't paying for the night. When checking out, they gave us the checkout receipt that I requested, which showed the nights we had stayed there for proof. It's been an exhausting four months trying to get our money back from this hotel. They're total liars!

We pretty much had breakfast and dinner at The Nest the entire time we were in El Nido. We also did the couples massage, which is right above their bar/restaurant. The view was fantastic!! I mean, every morning and watching the sunset was just amazing - you get the view of the Helicopter island. Since they are new, their bar and pool wasn't ready during our stay - the location of where they plan to have the pool is so perfect! - Can't wait to go back to this resort! I would definitely recommend the Nest. We left early for our early flight back to Manila so we didn't have time to have one last breakfast, but when we checked out, they had to-go breakfast ready for us. (WOW!) We also met the owner and the owner's son, very friendly/down to earth people. They also have complimentary tricycles, we were able to get picked up/dropped off at the Airswift airport and got dropped off at the Canopy Walk. One other downfall is that the location is right on the beach, but it's not in the nice part of the beach. Too many rocks - you can't really swim either. But even that doesn't discourage me from wanting to come back to this resort....

But you can still make it here as a backpacker if you want too.

He will ignore your request. * everyone complains. you can hear neighbors from other rooms complaining all the time about bathroom flooding, smell, and other issues. *staff are undertrained and have difficulties fulfilling their job because management prevents them for being able to do their job correctly. The beaches are beautiful though and the boat tours are totally worth it. The only reason this hotel gets 2 stars is because it is ocean front and the view from our room was insane). Besides that, it's very VERY basic and low maintenance. Stepping into the room, I was super underwhelmed. The room was tiny - just big enough for the bed and a little dresser. The bathroom is what really got to me. The only separation between the shower and toilet is a foot or two. No tub, ledge, curtain, anything. It was really inconvenient when everything in the bathroom got wet during a shower. This also meant that there was sand everywhere once we washed off after the beach. So weird! The AC was right above our head. It was impossible to keep it on overnight as we got terrible headaches from the cold hitting our heads directly. Thankfully, there was a fan that we were able to keep on instead. Tiny ants. All over the wall. Thankfully they didn't seem to go near the bed or bathroom, mainly just stayed near the front door. There is no nightlife in this hotel in particular - but when you walk a few hotels down, there's plenty of restaurants and bars. I loved that we weren't directly in the middle of the commotion but were just a few minutes away. All the places were super chill and so much fun. For food during the day, there are lots of restaurants in the area. But why stay in the area when you could be on a boat tour? The hotel itself seemed clean and well kept (besides being low maintenance). They did have an included breakfast buffet every morning. Not much selection, but everything was good. As far as the people in the front, most of them tried to be nice but were not always helpful. Like when I was bleeding from getting cut by a coral reef, they were unable to provide me with any bandaids. What kind of hotel doesn't have a first aid kit? The upside is that this place was super cheap - I think we paid like $50 a night. Walking along the beach and comparing to other hotels, I do think El Nido Beach Hotel was one of the best (if not the best) that we saw. Spending only 2 nights here was not the worst thing possible - however, I would not have been able to handle a whole week here. Like I said, it was totally worth it! I'm glad we went to Boracay for a few days afterwards to relax in luxury!

Qi Palawan is located about an hour away from El Nido Town and is truly paradise found…read more If the words lush, serene, and secluded speak to you than Qi Palawan is the place to be. There are seven luxurious bamboo bungalows on site with all of the amenities you could ever want: a beautiful outdoor shower with hot water, electricity 24 hours a day (El Nido is still pretty untouched so many of the hotels in the area run on a generator), super comfy bed, fridge, television and more! It was very modern but with a nice nod to traditional Filipino architecture. Spa treatments are unbelievably affordable and are hosted in a separate spa house on site that is chicly decorated. My mineral salt bath and massage was the perfect way to wind down after two weeks of jumping in and off planes around all of the islands. After eating Filipino food for several weeks, we welcomed their Spanish themed menu made with freshly caught seafood (the owner's husband is from Spain). Everthing we had was delicious and we were impressed that all of the bread was baked in-house. I'm not one to devour salad...but I devoured their salad. All of the veggies were extra crisp and fresh thanks to their onsite vegetable garden. Other things to note: The beach is perfect for kiteboarding if you are into that kind of thing, all rooms are equipped with their signature organic bug spray since you are basically in the middle of a jungle, free yoga classes every morning by the pool, pineapple shakes make the best welcome drink, they will happily arrange transfers to the airport and back as well as other hotels. Most bungalows are for a maximum of two people but they also have two family guesthouses if you want to come with your kiddies in tow. This place was definitely a highlight of my stay in the Philippines!

Let's break it down. - They cancelled our diving plans two days in a row, and didn't try to find other boats to take us until we were already leaving. - The resort boat capsized because management thought to park it in the open ocean, knowing the water was rough. - Island hopping was cancelled for everybody because of the aforementioned capsizing. - Our party got severe food poisoning from the resort that stuck with us for over 72 hours. - Brown water came out of our faucets / showers the majority of the time here. - Due to the complete lack of activities, we decided to try the only thing available, kiteboarding lessons. My expensive lessons got interrupted by one of the extremely rude managers, a white British guy who yelled at my Filipino instructor while we were mid-lesson. Who does this?? - The resort's kiteboarding lesson documents are misleading, and a resort employee admitted to many previous guests having the same issues. Let me dive into that last point, because it led to a yelling match with management. I calmly told management that the way their kiteboarding document is worded is misleading. Instead of being calm and accepting very valid criticism, they challenged me, questioning my intelligence, and boldly lying about never having an issue, when their own instructor admitted to previous guests having the same issue with the wording. After getting into it with Ananda Melo (the European female manager with brown/black hair), she called on the same rude British guy to literally come out of the back room to order me to "shush" and tell me how it's written in "plain English" on the document in my room. Ananda Melo, you shouldn't turn a guest's valid complaint into a yelling match. You shouldn't have gotten so tellingly defensive about a genuine improvement that could be made to your resort. You shouldn't have ordered our party to leave on such bad terms. The management here is ruining an otherwise beautiful resort. The local staff was absolutely wonderful. They were polite and attentive to all of our needs. My kiteboarding instructor Donald was awesome as well. I hope whoever owns this place replaces the current management, because they are managing QI Palawan into the ground. It's a shame. This is not how any visitor to the Phiippines should experience the country. Filipino hospitality should always go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed, but due to mismanagement, that attitude doesn't exist here. Sayang.

The location right by the beach has great views but very little coverage from the sun and it's very hot. The other location is more shaded at the top level and might be more comfortable. The food was pretty good but if you're looking for a western breakfast it won't be exactly that so manage your expectations. Still, the service was great and we enjoyed our time there
