The good of HEB is that all the employees are very friendly and, for the most part, helpful. The produce and meat selection is fresh, fairly diverse and plentiful. And they actually have a small selection of sushi that isn't too bad. A minor downside is when it comes to dry and canned goods finding something specific can be hit or miss. However, a more frustrating downside to this particular HEB is the bagging staff. Every time I shop here with the intention of getting a cart full of groceries I'm always disappointed in how the baggers decide to bag my items and how they put them in my cart. I always make a point to group my items on the belt based on weight/fragileness, refrigeration needs and edibles vs nonedibles. Which in other grocery store visits has resulted in things being bagged as such and helps prevents produce getting bagged with cans and bleach bagged with bread. But not here and today's visit was enough for me to want to address this irritation. The two baggers who put my groceries away did not seem to notice my pattern on the belt and decided to bag all of my items haphazardly. The above mentioned cans and produce being one of the many issues. After I finished my transaction and I was waiting for them to finish bagging I noticed they were putting the lady behind me's groceries in my cart. I had to stop them because they weren't paying attention. On top of all that, every thing looked as if it was just thrown into my cart. Its a good thing I caught them giving me the other lady's groceries when I did because they were about to drop a whole chicken on top of all my produce. While walking out the door I had a bag fall out of my cart and spill because it was placed on top of everything sideways. If they would of packed the cart with any care my groceries wouldn't have been piled high enough to fall out of the cart anyways. When I got to my car bags were spilling open because they weren't paying attention to how they put things in. Not to mention my bread, which I put at the end of the belt, was being crushed by a box of trash bags I put towards the beginning. Honestly, I do like a majority of what HEB has to offer, but I just wish they'd train their baggers better. It's enough to make me prefer to go to Wal-Mart since they bag how I put on the belt and I can make sure my bags are nicely put in the cart. It may sound petty but when you spend a couple hundred dollars on groceries a week it's important to make sure they don't get smushed, bruised or flat out destroyed on the way home. read more

Where to even begin! We waited like always to do our last minute holiday meal shopping a day before Thanksgiving! Not the best idea we've had, but well it was needed. The store was packed, not an empty parking space, we had to park a short walk away from the back of the parking lot. (Not complaining) As we grabbed out things, shelves were a little bare but well that's what we get for waiting last minute in the evening. When checking out there was two very flustered faces. Scanning and bagging as fast as they could, very courteous and very friendly, David was our cashier and I didn't get our baggers name. She was going through it, you could tell she was very frustrated. Someone pushed our cart out of the way making it a way for her to bag our items in awkward angle for her. The janitor was sweeping around her causing her to stop every time he went by. I know he was doing his job as well but in a busy situation like that id say go around her. She bagged up and as she finished, she said thank you have a great night! I stopped to tell her how much she was appreciated. Not just by our family, but all the families she helped that night. I speak for myself when I say I am always rushed, that night I took a quick second to appreciate all the hard working staff at the Uvalde HEB who worked around the clock to make our dinner a great success! I do not like to give negative reviews. I usually just do not comment! I have to say this is the worst constant experience in getting prescriptions filled that I have ever had. I fill prescriptions every week for my father, my husband, myself, fatherinlaw and children. After today I will use Walgreens. We used Rexall/Lifecheck for so many yrs and now that we have had to use HEB it is a nightmare! Very understaffed, rude and unwilling to help. When driving 40+ miles each way to get a prescription to find out it's really not ready... It's upsetting! Very poor service! read more

The staff at this location demonstrated awesome customer service! I was in need of a specific item...after looking at a few other stores who where either out or didn't carry, I decided to call this H-E-B before I drove in to town. The customer service team promptly took my call and transferred to an associate to help me and he walked to where the product was to make certain it was there and then gave me specific directions to where I could find it when I got there.
