I just despise HEB for the monopoly it is here in south Texas, but it's all I have. Recently this store has become unbearable as they have all the online shoppers crowding aisle and people having to bag their own groceries as they scan their own products. It was telling that EMS had pulled up just as I arrived, probably to collect the most recent customer to succumb to this store's apathy. Cosmetically, it's a nice store, but, as I have found to be the case with the Plus store in Kyle, it has no soul or character. I think at some point, these stores get too big and lose their sense of HEB identity and community. For some inexplicable reason, the Plus stores seem to always be reduced to vast wastelands of mass-merchandise serviced by uncaring and disinterested staff who can't be bothered to be customer-friendly (i.e. Walmart). The abysmal service I received at their pharmacy desk early one Saturday morning is a great case-in-point. Staff minimally complied with my simple request, without stating why they won't fully comply--one that another location honored just two days before. The pharmacist-on-duty when I was there early Saturday morning (an older blonde female) was perfectly content to shelter in place behind her pharmacy helm so as not to interact with customers. Instead she let the technicians deliver the puzzling verdict to the customer. [Op. Ed. I'm not sure why one becomes a pharmacist if it's not to help people. Cranky has no place in healthcare.] The pharmacy staff's blasé attitude extends to other departments. This isn't a matter of a staff shortage, mind you, since staff members can be all around you stocking, yet still fail to offer help. I finally found one staff member stocking snacks across from the frozen food section who broke a smile in response to mine--but no offer of assistance. Ultimately, the finger has to point at impoverished unit management for not motivating the staff to excel. Sadly, the attitude of the staff is mirrored in the attitude of the customers. Of the dozens I saw, only one who appeared cheerful. To put it bluntly, I've seen zombies with more zest for life. So I concluded this must just be an unhappy area of metropolitan San Antonio, likely inhabited by nouveau riche in debt up to their eyeballs. Either that, or hayseeds who never have recovered from losing their triple-tin-shed "flagship" Garden Ridge store across the highway. Otherwise, come here to load up your groceries, and carry on. If you want the worlds best grocery store, this HEB is it. I had a hard time finding some items and the one associate Mariela H was the best help for that. I definitely would like to hear a shoutout for her because she provided excellent customer service and definitely deserves a raise! read more

One of our favorite grocery stores when in the area, they carry clothes too. A nice restaurant just outside the store makes is all in one store. I like their wine deals, produce, HEB BRAND - coffee, popcorn, ketchup and sanitary napkins. And gas station is just outside the store too. read more

Wow! I went here to purchase items to make a cheese platter and mimosas for my niece as I was in from out of town for her wedding and wanted her to have something in her hotel. This is what they called their "supermarket" and super is was. I am used to large grocery stores but this one takes the cake. The store sold clothes, which had a separate section in the store, as did they have a section that sold cowboy boots, high end purses, electronics, workout clothing and jewelry. The store was ginormous. Not in bulk such as BJ's or Sam's type just a large supermarket. I was able to find everything I was looking for at a very reasonable price. Loved the gourmet cheese section and the bakery had amazing cakes and pastries. The meats looked wonderful as did the seafood section. Staff was friendly and helpful. read more

For those of you who work for HEB and turn in stellar reviews, it won't work! This store in particular, is a mess! Parking is a nightmare and when you look at their prices, well, They are the highest priced store in Texas! If you have the sense to write down some Brand Name items that are no different in quality no matter where you buy them, go across the street to Walmart, who has way better parking, you will find a significant savings! Then there is the Handicapped Scooters! HEB stores them outside!!!! They get wet and cold which is an insult to handicapped customers including Disabled Vets! No other food store in the US does that, really, they don't! Everyone else parks them inside! I have traveled with the Air Force for 40 years! Been in every one of the 48 states, shopped everywhere! If you ask me what I love most about Texas, I"ll tell you three letters: H-E-B Native Texans don't get it, and I don't get why they don't get it. HEB is amazing. I've moved around a lot and super markets tend to be feel super commercialized and nationalistic. I love HEB's focus in getting local products to the consumers as well as other amazing choices. It truly feels like I'm stepping into my community when I visit my local HEB. This location by the freeway in Schertz used to be smaller, but now it's a plus size! They have everything from electronics, boutiques, clothes, pharmacy, food, to even a restaurant. The employees are always super helpful whenever I need help finding something. I've never had a bad experience here. I appreciate that they're open late for when I need a last minute ingredient or need to pick up a late night medicine from the pharmacy. I've heard complaints about the parking lot, though it hasn't bothered me at all. I love that the location is super easy to get to from Ih35. Makes it an easy stop from my adventures in downtown San Antonio when I'm heading home. If I ever move away from Texas, I will miss HEB. read more

I really love H-E-B but this location has expired food on shelves. I got curbside assistance and received moldy bagels and missing items. I emailed and no response yet. This is a true story of how my day just started at 5:50AM after just over four hours of sleep in Schertz, TX. In my case I also happen to be a tired commercial truck driver. Last night I got a late start on my shift as I drove southbound on I-35 in Texas. I was still two hours from my destination when my body told me it was time to get off the road and sleep. Not being familiar with the area where I was driving I was relying solely on my eyes to find a place where I could safely exit the freeway and shut down for a 10hr reset. As luck would have it I spotted two service stations with big green numbers alerting me to the availability of diesel at their locations. They were across the freeway from me so I exited and crossed over the freeway to reach them. I pulled in to the first entrance that I reached and feeling exhausted I pulled through their parking lot into a much larger parking lot that was very nearly empty. It was 1:30AM and I decided that fuel could wait until I had gotten some sleep. I shut my truck off and got laid down. I was out as soon as my head hit the pillow. As I lay peacefully sleeping in that big empty parking lot I was suddenly awoken by a loud knock on my truck window. I sat up, startled, and tried to gain my bearings. I was soon able to ascertain that the noise must have come from the blue shirted man standing very close to my truck door peering through my window at me. I placed my hand on my truck key and turned it one click to the right so that I would be able to lower my window and find out what this person needed, that couldn't wait. As the window jolted to life, opening to the early morning air, my ears were suddenly accosted by a hasty demand that I no longer park there. I looked incredulously at the person and tried to formulate my thoughts. He was obviously quite serious so I looked around, thinking that I must be, unknowingly, blocking an entrance or exit or somehow impeding other people's ability to use the location for the commerce that it was designed for. It was very obvious upon my search that this was not the case. As I hadn't formed a word yet the man must have felt compelled to explain to me further as he forcefully informed me, "This is not a parking lot!" Words now came, almost too quickly, from my mouth. I couldn't help but smile as I let my aggressive accoster know that in all actuality this was in fact just that, a parking lot. A nearly empty one at that. No other car was within eight hundred feet of me and he and I were the only humans in sight. My rhetorical question of, "You cannot be serious?"(Which he obviously was, quite serious.), was met by a threat that if I did not leave the premises immediately the police were getting called. I cordially invited him to proceed with that request for "emergency" assistance as he turned on his heel and pulled his phone to his ear. It was only then that I wished I had thought to use my phone to record the entire exchange. Placing my thumb to my phone now, it opened to the map which I had been driving by just a few short hours before. I was able to see just exactly where I had parked in proximity to all surrounding businesses. That is when I was shown that I was 800ft from an H.E.B plus! that had the same signage that appeared on the blue shirt that fit so snugly on the man who had just begun walking back from whence he had come. (The store wasn't opening for at least two more hours according to the information provided on the map app on my phone.) I drove back across the parking lot to a Valero service station, with a Circle K convenience store, located in a corner near the intersecting streets that I had used to enter the original parking lot. When I exited the store and was crossing back to my truck an SUV carrying one of Schertz finest pulled up and stopped at the front of my truck. In closing: This H.E.B. plus! is located a quarter mile from the street in front of its parking lot that I entered through the H.E.B plus! service station that I had seen from the freeway as I drove looking for a safe place to sleep last night. The Valero/Circle K is located next to it in its own corner of the parking lot with a McDonalds in between. The grocery/department store is a quarter of a mile away, deep back across the large parking lot, behind the service stations. H.E.B. plus! has lost my business forever. What a clown show. read more

I came into HEB looking for gluten free bagels, and after searching to no avail I called on Victoria, who was stocking peanut butter, for assistance. I demonstrated to her my predicament and she politely explained that if there were none on the shelf, then the store did not carry them. I left empty handed, but Victoria made me feel welcome and at home as if it were my local HEB. This review is for Schertz, Tx. H-E-B. The delicatessen is lacking in some areas of expertise, when it comes to customer service. I have experienced, on multiple different accounts, the unfriendliness of staff, as the demeanor came off very passive aggressive towards me. Like when recently, I had asked for a 1/2 lb. of Boar's head boiled ham sliced on one, and she deliberately turned around and gave me chicken, as if she just expected me to take it anyway. I had made it very clear that I wanted the ham, as I pointed it out the first time, and said "not the lower sodium one, please." This whole time, the two other women working were very unprofessional as they made condescending remarks towards me, and continued to laugh about it. It seems to me if you are not happy slicing meat, you may want to find something else to do. Why should the customer feel like they're doing something wrong, when their requesting your service? read more

This is a review from a visitor based out of Los Angeles. My cousins and I went here for an ice cream run. Just looking at the outside, I thought it could have been home improvement store as there were plants and BBQs outside. When I went inside, I was surprised to see super large bakery/produce area. Like seriously, there's so much space to walk around, and that was just the bakery and produce area! Our grocery stores in LA are small compared to here. Then we walked on over to the other aisles. Wow! So many aisles, so much space, so many items being offered! So clean too! This was definitely a "everything is bigger in Texas" experience to me. Oh yeah, we ended up getting up ice cream. I didn't know Blue Bell Ice Cream was a thing here in Texas. We ended up getting two half gallons and they were pretty good! Cool fact: my cousins named their dogs after this ice cream, Blue and Belle. After coming here and seeing the ice creams, I understood the background of their names. My dude and I ended up going to another HEB near the Austin airport but it wasn't as impressive as this one in Schertz. I really liked this location's HEB. I'll be looking forward to shopping here when I move out to Texas. read more

Deli trays are always tasty.... Meat selection is very good. Produce department needs work. This being TX I would expect a larger selection of chile peppers. They've never heard of a Fresno chile even though Central Market has them.... I also don't like that the dairy is right next to dog food. Not a good flow to the store and the aisles are too tight. Convoluted set up next to seafood area and bananas are either very green or completely gone. I can get in and out of Walmart faster because I'm not stuck in aisle traffic jams. But they discount wine, so that's the 2nd star. read more

This place is impressive in terms of the deli, bakery, and the number of unique products. They also have a great cleaning, party, and book section. However it's always a bummer to use the large carts because of the amount of people in this place. I usually shop with a basket and weave like a football player past all of the slower people. Don't come here during the holidays. It's hectic in the parking lot and in the aisles. read more

I agree totally with Ronald, another reviewer on here. I live in Cibolo and I'd rather drive all the way to HEB on Kitty Hawk. It's a total nightmare getting in and out of this place. I'm so fearful of having a car accident every time I come here. You walk in there and it's like people will run you over the minute you step in that store. Very unpleasant. The way they constructed the parking lot is stupid. I sure hope some rich person decides to open one in Cibolo that's hopefully better than this. After going in for a consolation for wedding flowers it wasn't until 4 weeks later that I had to make a call & ask about the price. The lady who helped us told me THEY would get back with me in about 5 days. When I called them to ask about it, she told me they had been so busy with Mother's Day and prom. But I had had my consultation 4 weeks before all of that. So that's why I am giving 1 star. Poor service and slow at getting back to you. 1 star for the parking lot!! The parking lot here is terrible! We stopped by on a Sunday and there was no parking available. We finally found a space, but our truck wouldn't fit there because of how someone parked. We witnessed people trying to cross from the store to the parking lot almost get hit by speeding cars. I don't think I'll stop by here again. I'd rather drive out my way to go to the H-E-B on 46! While I'm on a rant, I wish there was another options for other grocery stores besides H-E-B and Walmart. read more

We LOVE HEB!! Great prices, Great people, and its not Walmart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The produce and meat dept are far fresher than their competitors. The yellow coupons hanging all over the place and are easy to find. My wife clips coupons from the Sunday paper but often finds a better coupon hang right there with the item she's looking for. They are a Texas based company and very supportive if the community they are in. We love EVERYTHING about them!! read more

Disappointed in the laziness of an employee in the seafood area. Bought a red snapper and asked for fish to be cleaned and scaled, she claimed that they didn't have a scaler; really, this is a freaking HEB Plus and you can't find a scaler!!! I was so infuriated that I called the store to speak with the department manager. After explaining my plight he asked me to return and personally cleaned my fish...to his credit he did not embarrass the employee who claimed they did not have a fish de-scaler rather it was misplaced.
