We visited this HEB as it was on the way back from the beach... this is the grocery store in Port Aransas on the mainland (not on Mustang Island)... we visited on Pi day, 3.14 / 3/14 / March 14. And, like so many grocery stores now a days, they had pie specials... - $3.14 for two slices (mix n match flavors) - $3.14 for a half pie (same flavor) - $3.14 off a full pie We got a couple slices and some chicken which we grilled back at the restaurant. I usually choose to shop at the Portland HEB. The store doesn't have a car wash and the parking lot can be a bit challenging at times, but the store is clean, well stocked and there are several great HEB partners that make shopping there enjoyable. Andrew is a very knowledgeable and trustworthy pharmacist. Alex in the seafood department is always very helpful and friendly. The seafood department sanitation is outstanding. The seafood quality at this store is consistently very good. All of the cashiers are friendly and well trained. I find Pearl to be one of the fastest cashiers and always very attentive and friendly. Chrissy is a bright light of energy as a bagger. She sometimes forgets to bag quickly because she is busy spreading cheer, but she did both very well today. This store has very good perishables overall. Deli is well run and produce is consistently well culled and merchandised. The floral department outstanding for a smaller store. The flowers always last a long time which tells me they order, rotate stock and handle the flowers well. The cut flower stems are always freshly cut. They have made nice arrangements and corsages for me too.

Their prices are definitely better than those convenient stores that you find closer to the beach. It's also one of the better merchandised Dollar General's that I've seen. They have a big frozen meats section, prepared foods (like dumplings, buns, eggrolls), snacks, fresh produce and herbs, sauces/seasonings, rice/noodles, and more. All of the workers here are very nice and will answer any questions you have. They do have some items for sale and it changes. You will see a nice handwritten sign by the on sale item. Most items here are fairly priced and I come often!
