Excellent supermarket with very good perishable departments and many friendly partners! I live in-between several HEB stores as well as Walmart and other grocery options. I usually choose to shop at the Portland HEB. The store doesn't have a car wash and the parking lot can be a bit challenging at times, but the store is clean, well stocked and there are several great HEB partners that make shopping there enjoyable. Andrew is a very knowledgeable and trustworthy pharmacist. Alex in the seafood department is always very helpful and friendly. The seafood department sanitation is outstanding. The seafood quality at this store is consistently very good. All of the cashiers are friendly and well trained. I find Pearl to be one of the fastest cashiers and always very attentive and friendly. Chrissy is a bright light of energy as a bagger. She sometimes forgets to bag quickly because she is busy spreading cheer, but she did both very well today. This store has very good perishables overall. Deli is well run and produce is consistently well culled and merchandised. The floral department outstanding for a smaller store. The flowers always last a long time which tells me they order, rotate stock and handle the flowers well. The cut flower stems are always freshly cut. They have made nice arrangements and corsages for me too. read more

Good selection of food; helpful staff ... March, 2023 Visit For spring break we visited Corpus Christi, to enjoy a bit of sun and relaxation, and we enjoyed the trip. This trip we stayed in a TownePlace suite, with a mini kitchen that has an oven, so we made dinner ourselves each night. We visited this HEB twice. Once we were able to get some Texas shrimp, for a great shrimp-and-rice dinner that my wonderful wife cooked. Great help from the lady in the fish section. A clean store. Great food selection. Produce department is horrible! Placed HOCO order for a specific date! I had no other options to pay. I had to pay 3 weeks before date. Total disregard to date I wanted horrible service. They were not clear nor did they tell me about date I had to pay by. School colors are same as GP I don't understand why I could have not paid that day that I scheduled for the order. Really bad service absolutely not courteous, and could have had better customer service by simply having to pay by date that I specified. read more

Cashier was Extremely rude to me. She did not know the particulars of a specific meal deal and when I explained it to her she became very angry and proceeded to attempt to go through all my bags to satisfy herself that I was telling the truth. This went on in front of several other customers and humiliated me. That happened yesterday and I am still upset by the entire experience. Super clean store, well lit, open, lots of options, well staffed. It was a pleasure to be out-of-state and in an unfamiliar store and have the staff go out their way to help me. It is rare. Bakery selection was pretty phenomenal, check out was like talking to my favorite neighbor. read more

Every time Im there everyone is on a great mood in every department. I also want to shoutout the florists for their hard work, even though I had to pick up my flowers before their opening time they took care of me. And someone from the produce department got my order for me. read more

This is a normal HEB not the Plus kind. This store seemed super busy when I was there. There were plenty of cashiers on hand to handle the amount of customers unlike the other big box company. This store was clean and had the items I was looking for at a great price with those yellow coupons. I just love bargain hunting at HEBs they make it so easy. read more

They do a great job getting unique products that keep us from having to drive into Corpus to a bigger H-E-B. We especially love the nice selection of simple meals. It helps on busy nights. They also have a nice selection of organic products and every team member I've encountered has been friendly. read more

WORST BAKERY EVER. I bought a cake on last week left it with a very nice young man name Brodie great service but somehow, they forgot to make it fresh gave me one from the case which was old it was my husbands 55 birthday. Well should have known I ordered a 2 second cake young girl had attitude and still placed the cake order only one here in Portland went by to pickup the order which they could not find and then the young girl found the paperwork which by the way I had requested at 12 noon pickup I heard the manger tell her get her a frozen one. Hello the party is at 1 we ordered a fresh cake and then I was not even crossing the line and the manger yelled get behind the line like I was a child her name is Girsielda instead of ma'am m can you step back which I was not even crossing the line. They said oh, she's having a bad day. That is not the customers fault and you leave personal thing at home...They gave me an old cake from the glass not even well, I apologize for the inconvenience. This is the BEST grocery store in the gulf coast! I have to say that after hurricane Harvey, this HEB was quick to open...just 2 days after landfall. To top it off, they never price gouged their gas prices and when they ran out of regular, they sold premium at regular price. They gave away TRUCK LOADS of free ice and water to the community. The service was friendly and hospitable and the employees made everyone feel relaxed as if all was normal. read more

I am surprised by all of the negative reviews. This HEB is my favorite. Everyone is always very nice to me and my kids. Sometimes I have to bring them all to the store and the cashiers will help me unload my cart if the baby is being fussy. I can always find someone to help me if needed too. It is a smaller town heb so I don't expect them to have some of the items you might find at a Houston or Austin HEB but overall they have an excellent variety and a nice staff. read more

Was spoiled by the HEBs in Houston. This one lacks the robust fruit and veggie section. Also found some members of the staff less than cordial, afternoon bakery personnel in particular. The selection is better than mostly and parking is difficult, as is with most HEB. read more

Just moved from RI to Portland TX and never in my life have I visited a grocery store with such great prices along with excellent service. Any employee will be glad to help you any why they can & they do it politely and with a smile on their face.I give then a 5 star rating but would give the store manager & staff a 10 star rating. Good store, but with all the growth in Portland it has become very congested. I guess since they have added curbside service and delivery service there is a belief they can meet the needs of the community. However, my preference is to do my own shopping so I'm beginning to find the store uncomfortable. read more

Okay, I know when gas prices went up so did the cost of food... especially meats. Gas prices have been down now for a while and food/meat prices have stayed high. HEB can't sell their meat when it is fresh and now they have a bunch of old meat they are selling. It does not matter if I buy pork, beef, or chicken, it is bad. Tastes bad, tasted spoiled, and someone needs to do something about the bad meat. My son has been sick more times this year with intestinal problems and I think they are part of the problem. I am sick with intestinal problems and am not happy. Today I went an bought some meat and cooked it this evening. It tastes rotten to me. Before you say that I just can't cook, you need to know that I have been cooking for many years (40+) and am considered a good cook by friends and family. The Health Department needs to check out their meats. I am looking into driving to Corpus to a meat market to see if I can find some fresh meat. read more
