So, since there was a tap water ban in the effect, it seems like it was a good opportunity for Stripes to sell some high end, marked up, expensive drinking water. At these prices, it seems that the sparkling clear water must have been imported straight from the slopes of Mt Everest, trekked in by Sherpa, in the most lavish way possible. I was disappointed that they didn't just have cheap-o water available, something cheap to brush your teeth with. Instead, just the fancy stuff, which felt a bit like I was getting gouged. Beyond the prices, the store was clean- freshly mopped floors. They choose to mop during rush hour for some reason, making for slippery wet floors. But it was clean. The service was about what you'd expect at a Stripes. Nothing out of the ordinary. There's plenty of parking.

I usually choose to shop at the Portland HEB. The store doesn't have a car wash and the parking lot can be a bit challenging at times, but the store is clean, well stocked and there are several great HEB partners that make shopping there enjoyable. Andrew is a very knowledgeable and trustworthy pharmacist. Alex in the seafood department is always very helpful and friendly. The seafood department sanitation is outstanding. The seafood quality at this store is consistently very good. All of the cashiers are friendly and well trained. I find Pearl to be one of the fastest cashiers and always very attentive and friendly. Chrissy is a bright light of energy as a bagger. She sometimes forgets to bag quickly because she is busy spreading cheer, but she did both very well today. This store has very good perishables overall. Deli is well run and produce is consistently well culled and merchandised. The floral department outstanding for a smaller store. The flowers always last a long time which tells me they order, rotate stock and handle the flowers well. The cut flower stems are always freshly cut. They have made nice arrangements and corsages for me too.

This trip we stayed in a TownePlace suite, with a mini kitchen that has an oven, so we made dinner ourselves each night. We visited this HEB twice. Once we were able to get some Texas shrimp, for a great shrimp-and-rice dinner that my wonderful wife cooked. Great help from the lady in the fish section. A clean store. Great food selection. Great staff.

This place is a literal life saver! I dropped my friend off in San Dia in the middle of the night…read moreand I didn't realize I was almost our of gas. Unfortunately the only gas station there was closed, So I turned everything off on my car and slowed down from 70-75 to a brisk 50 to squeeze all the gas I had to the last drop(less than a gallon!). 20 miles later I was able to arrive to this gas station with my tank exactly hitting miles as I pulled up into it. I was so glad that the pumps were operational despite the store being closed. This saved me from calling AAA and waiting about an hour and a half for them to come out here and fill up my car. Not to mention the gas was cheap too! 5 stars goes to these guys for having a gas station in the middle of nowhere that won't close. Hats off to you, K-2
