I visited this place in March 2026 because I received a letter from the IRS that said I owed money for my 2023 taxes as well as a huge penalty for late payment. I stated I was confused as to why I owed taxes for 2023. I asked several times for this to be explained. Instead I was charged $149 to ask the IRS to reduce the late payment penalties. After I paid I just knew in my gut that something was right. I searched around and found out that I DIDN'T in face owe anything. There was just a mistake made by an H&R Block accountant that was fixed after some back and forth. That isn't the problem, mistakes happen. I am giving a one star review because this location is refusing to refund me the $149 that I paid to reduce penalties that I should've have received to begin with. As I said, I asked several times why I owed money and that it didn't make sense to me and I was ignored. Basically, I was charged $149 to fix a mistake made by H&R Block. I definitely won't be using them again. read more

Go anywhere else besides H&R Block to do your taxes, especially this location. They lowball you as much as possible and basically treat you with no respect. I called them and asked if they had enough time for a walk in they replied, did I say we were busy? I said I was just asking and they said yeah I think we could do a walk in so I showed up 10 minutes later and the guy at the front desk told me to wait for the person to come back but he didn't know where he went, there was at least 5 other people working there not doing anything but I had to wait for the guy I was on the phone with so I waited about 15-20 minutes until he showed up and basically was rude and like I said disrespectful the whole time. I had to make a phone call and by the time I was off the phone he said that I couldn't be helped anymore because he needed to help the person who had a appointment so I just left but before I left he stated two things one it was going to be about a $600 return and I said that would be the lowest return I would of ever received and then he said it might me more he didn't know but if I had never said that he would have not cared I don't think he cared at all anyways and the other thing he said was that he didn't want to kick me out but no one else could help me that day. They didn't close for another 2 hours but I just left went to another place and they offered me way more than double $600. They are racist only white people working there and he kept saying the wrong job description about my w2 form on purpose after I told him what I did and where i worked trying to get a reaction out of me. I am so thankful that I had to leave and I will never go back I don't like H&R Block now at all and I know other people have warned me not to go there, I don't understand how they are able to run the company with those guys treating customers like that. No person of color should go there! read more

I saw the so called Tax pro Nagamalleswari or Malle for short. She did everything in her power to not answer my questions correctly and straight out lied saying she got me the best tax return possible. She said writing off my crypto losses and medical expenses would not matter at all. I kept asking her to do this and she said it wouldn't "really" make a difference. Then she flat out told me it's not worth her time and I should just complete the return. Fast word a month I file on my own with turbo tax and write off my own crypto loss and I got $1,500 more than she did. DO NOT GO TO Malle there. read more

Robert Ritzman was very transphobic to me. He intentionally dead named me and then argued with me when I respectfully corrected him. He told me it would be hard for him to call me by my chosen name. I told him it's not that difficult but he would not listen at all. Not only was he very rude and discriminatory this is also illegal and violates Washington states Public accommodation discrimination laws. I moved to Seattle to get away from this kind of small minded ignorant bigotry. I am still in shock over the way I was treated. Absolutely unacceptable!!! read more

Do not give this branch your business. I tried working with a woman named Malle and she was the least helpful and so rude . She then denied me service, and then another person denied me service even though they were the ones being unprofessional and incompetent. DO NOT GO HERE THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. I contact customer service to hopefully fix this matter. Stay away. read more

Had a confirmed appointment for 12 pm. The front desk clerk said they've never heard of the tax expert? After 20 min of waiting and watching other customers be told their appointment isn't an actual appointment I was finally taken back to another tax expert. He was so condescending and told me this is "a fight for you and the IRS" told me I wasn't priority and then had me leave. He also told me that my tax expert I had scheduled with doesn't even work there anymore. Would not recommend, very unorganized. read more

If you want to get screwed up royally then come here. Tien Auckley filed my tax for my 2016 and 2017 tax INCORRECTLY which makes my account supposedly positive to few thousands dollar in debt. I came here to ask for advice back in 2018 and they told me to contact Tien since she doesn't work there anymore. read more

I stopped by to ask some questions initially and proceed to have them do my simple return should it arise.. I sit down with Roberta Herk and we chat as necessary. She's very friendly and warm the whole time. After we find out that it's cheaper for me to do it on my own, that becomes the plan... I guess she misunderstood and starts guiding me through the online paperwork for her to do it. I stop her after 2 screens and reconfirmed that I'm going to do them. She swiftly apologized and said that we're all done. No upsell. No uncomfortable vibes or anything. She was friendly from greeting to going. Now. the gentleman who greeted me up front, I think he's from Office Space. read more

I'll title this review "insult to injury". Injury: being charged over $450 for a mildly complicated return that ultimately took less than two hours to complete. Upsetting but acceptable if the story ended there... Insult: my wife (who was not at the initial appointment) catching a careless error made by the tax preparer that would have cost us close to $1,000 if it had gone unnoticed. While we were subsequently given an amended return, it doesn't change the fact that I paid H&R Block hard earned money to screw up my taxes and almost hand a grand of that hard earned cash to the federal government. I've been using H&R Block for over a decade (mostly self preparing online) but will definitely never be using them again in any way, shape or form. I refuse to reward sloppy work with my business, especially when all these people have to offer for their (big) mistakes is excuses and hollow apologies. read more

Malli is amazing and super fast will my taxes. She is knowledgeable about taxes and makes sure I'm taken care of!

I had the misfortune of going here in 2018 for my taxes. I had switched states and had cryptocurrency I needed advice on. Big mistake. Firstly, they refused to tell me outright how much my taxes would cost ahead of time, that was my first hint that I should have gotten the hell out of there. Next, they knew NOTHING about cryptocurrency or how to handle it, second big red flag. In the end, I had to tell them how I think they should handle the cryptocurrency sale and that's what they did. Lastly, they charged me $360 at the end of the appointment! That wouldn't have been so bad, I figured "Hey I was dumb enough to go here, I deserve this." Fast forward 1 year, I start getting calls and emails from them again to do my taxes. Obliviously I wasn't going to do that so I ignore them. Then, 2 days ago I start to receive fraudulent text messages saying I have an appointment with them when I made no appointment! These text messages said I have an appointment with them in February and even had some bogus time on there! I have these text messages saved because they're so ridiculous. I called their office and the guy that picked up flatly denied and lied that he knew anything about the text messages. He was full of shit and spewed some bullshit about how "he was just trying to help" and then promptly hung up. Worst place ever, very shady, never go here. read more

H&R Block - This is the shady business practices these guys engage in. Acting like I made an appointment when I never made an appointment. - Tax Services Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Take your taxes, and your money, anywhere else. My appointment felt rushed, the process wasn't communicated well, and the customer service was lacking overall. There was absolutely no benefit to going here instead of trying to file myself online, and it cost significantly more. After having filed through this office, I called and left a message with the receptionist asking to speak with my tax preparer due to having received information from another financial institution that conflicted what they'd said. No idea which of them was right, because no one from H&R Block ever called me back. read more

Is it possible to choose zero stars?? My husband and I had a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE at this establishment! We have never used a tax service before. But since we had recently bought an investment property, we decided to go to H&R Block to make sure that all of our i's were dotted and t's crossed. My husband went to the H&R Block (Pine St. location) to get a cost estimate for the service and was quoted approximately $160. So we decided to move forward, sent them our documents, and made an appointment. Few days later, we met with our tax preparer Mali. She was friendly (at first) and as we went through our documents she made a comment on how we had a lot of documents. Fast forward to when she showed us the cost. They were charging us $547!!! What happened to $160? She told us each document was extra (no wonder she made that comment earlier). We tried to explain to Mali that we were quoted a different price and my husband wasn't informed that each document was an additional cost. And that's when she did a 360. She didn't want to listen to our explanation. She just kept on saying, "You can do whatever you want." And under her breath she even said, "I hope you don't give a bad review." (Umm...really?!) We were basically just trying to let her know that the front desk was providing customers incorrect information. And Mali just kept shooting us down saying, "That's fine, you can do whatever you want." As we tried to explain the situation to her she started packing up our documents, put them in an envelope, left the envelope on her desk, and walked away. She left us in her cubicle!!! Unbelievable!! My husband I were surprised by such TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! This place is shady and has the worst customer service we've ever experienced! NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

They charge 10 times for what I could have paid at an Online Tax Filing service. They charged TWICE more for any regular tax attorney would charge. The guy who was filing my return had ZERO idea of how to tax my dividend, capital gains earnings.. I had to guide through the entire process. He even FORGOT to file one of my 1099 earnings report which I had to point out. What a waste of money.. i'm still fuming for the amount of money I had to pay for their unreliable, inaccurate and overpriced service. read more

State-registered domestic partners needing assistance in filling out their forms under the brand-new IRS domestic partnership/community property rules: See Holly Woo. She's competent, professional, and personable, and she's willing to answer any questions you may have and help you understand your return. My fiance and I were pretty apprehensive, but Holly made what could have been a complicated, confusing process relatively painless. I cannot vouch for the rest of the tax-preparation staff at this location because the preparer next to us seemed pretty inept and kept coming over and asking for help (hence, one star deducted), but Holly gets four stars for her awesomeness. read more

Amazing service from Robert Ritzman and his team! I left my business state filing to the last possible second, and was saved not only from a hefty fine, but from over reporting the state tax owed. Robert went out of his way to get the job done, staying beyond operating hours and giving me the guidance and time to help calculate the correct amount. Thank you H&R for your choice in professional, approachable and proactive staff! read more

NEVER again! I never, ever write reviews unless I feel it is absolutely necessary to save someone the headache. I do my reasonably easy tax returns every single year using TurboTax. The usual mortgage deductions, charity and a child. I am relatively knowledgeable in that respect and never have an issue with my returns. In 2015 I had a home purchase with points. This was really the ONLY reason I wanted a second eye on my returns. I had already crunched some numbers in TurboTax so I knew what I would be facing either way. Long story short, I scheduled an appointment and got "Hank". He sat me down and answered my first question which was "how much am I looking at to have my taxes filed here?" He said (AND I QUOTE!) "your taxes are pretty straight forward, so you are looking at $100, give or take". Perfect. We sat there for an hour as I pointed out typo and mistake after typo and mistake (people, it pays to try to do your taxes FIRST, so you know what you are looking at!). I should have trusted my instinct that this person knew NOTHING about taxes when he started using Google and RUN for the door. When all was said and done, we reviewed the form and he told me it would be $275 to file. TWO SEVENTY FIVE. And that my friends is the biggest NOPE in history. I hadn't signed anything, asked if I was obligated to file there (he said no), grabbed my paperwork and went back to old trusty TurboTax. I will never look back. Or if I do, I will use a licensed CPA who actually knows what they are doing. Unbelievable. I can't even imagine someone without any knowledge at all going here and thinking they HAVE to pay an outrageous fee and not even know if their forms are correct. I hope this helps you make a better choice - I don't want anyone to get taken advantage of!! read more

I started working with them when an online filing (on HRBlock.com) I did myself a few years ago came back 12 months later with huge flaws and the IRS wrote me an after the fact bill for around $9,000 additional tax liability. This HRBlock office stepped in and fixed all the mistakes, refiling my past year's return and getting the amount owed down to what was actually around $400. The whole thing probably took 8-10 hours of my time, but I was really happy that the HR Block office did the whole thing without additional charge. That was about 5 years ago and I have now used the same HRBlock office every year to avoid similar problems. Going this route instead of attempting self-serve online filings is well worth the money in savings in time, maximizing your tax return/minimzing your taxes, and also in the filing guarantee. I highly recommend HR Block's in-person services and especially Robert in the capitol hill office, he is a real ace. I do most things in life myself but hiring HR Block and Robert to manage my taxes is a really simple decision that ultimately saves me time and money. read more

When I got the letter saying I owed the IRS $3500 I was in true panic mode. After calling several CPAs and reading the reviews here I met with Vern at this H&R Block office. He was very calm and competent which helped me rein in my panic. It took awhile to get them done (he has to run the place alone during slow season so he's busy!) but turns out I only owe the IRS $80! Hurray! Vern was nice enough to have the letter all ready for me, he even had it in the envelope addressed to the IRS. In this part of the deal he went above and beyond! I am very grateful for the help I received here and it was quite a bit less than the five other CPAs I called. read more

I had to walk away. I was told to let them know if I am bilingual which has nothing to do with my taxes.

I have used H&R Block for years. Let me just say, you get what you pay for. If you want to go cheap and not get excellent, current tax advice, then file online. I have always found Block to be efficient, reliable, and accurate. They are open all year and give free tax advice to their clients. You can call anytime or go by with a question. I have always been very happy with their service. read more

Have never used a tax service before (besides turbo tax). While I did not like having to pay the IRS more money, I left with piece of mind that my taxes were done correctly. We saw Denise and she was so friendly and knowledgeable. She gave us advice for the future and definitely knew her stuff. I would strongly recommend her to anyone. Also, the pricing was considerably lower than I expected. They had promotions and I don't think we paid much more than we would have if we had filed through Turbo Tax. I will definitely be leveraging H&R Block again next year. read more

I tried get some help from the HR Block on 12oth St in Puyallup on Monday. The girl at the counter asked me if she could help me and I begab to explain that I needed help with my K-1 form. She referred me to a different woman; I explained the area I needed help and she told me that since I had already done my 1040 that she really could not be of any help. I cannot recommend Rob R. at the Pine Street office enough! I came in last minute to file my tax returns, a process that can really be stressful, and he guided me with every step along the way with his tax knowledge. He explained everything, handled my return, followed up and stayed in touch throughout the multi-step process. What a pro! His calm demeanor is what especially helped me through all this. Everyone in the office is nice and helpful, but Rob especially understands good customer service and building personal relationships with clients. He did such a wonderful job that I'm already booking him for the 2017 tax season. Since he already did my taxes this year and has my records, next year's returns should be even breezier. Go in there and ask for him! read more

I filed my taxes through H&R Block's website on my own and ended up owing quite a chunk of money (for a poor girl like myself). I went in to have a free cross check done on my work and Shannon showed me how to maximize my return, fix mistakes and change my information to make next year easier for myself. Not only that, but they were very friendly and super fast! If I ever need anything I will certainly return there. I never write reviews because I'm too lazy and don't usually care, but the help I was given took a weight off my shoulders and I am more confident in filing in the future. Thanks!! read more

No one likes to do taxes. When I moved here from out of state I also moved my small company with me. H&R was quick and cost less than my CPA obviously....they made the process easy. I will be using them again next year! read more
